Youtube Digest
Hi guys! So I said I wanted to try to update twice in March, so here I am! First things first, I updated my template - I mean, it's the same template, but I changed a few things around - the "archive" continues all the way to the current month now, instead of stopping at 5/11. Secondly, I updated some of the links - I took out the webcomic "Machismo - http://thepunchlineismachismo.com " and replaced it with a Katamari webcomic I started reading. Similarly, I changed Nedroid to his homepage instead of his outdated LiveJournal, I took out Failblog and my Comments.asp, and added Richard Wiseman's blog, the Magic Judge's Tumblr, and Maro's Tumblr.
So now without HaloScan, you can't comment on my blog, so maybe I just have to update the template - but for now, since I don't get that many visitors and it's mostly just you guys, you can e-mail back responses and whatever :P
^^ Okay, just as I was about to input this entry, I decided to connect it to Google+ - apparently you can mention other people in your blog now and they might get notifications on google+! That's neat. And I think comments or whatever can be linked to google+ now too... so that should be fun, if it works out. Let's see...
Hi +David Nijjar and +Alan Yu ! Please read my new blog post! Also +Duy-Khang Nguyen-Huu but I'm not sure if Duy has a Google+ Account...
Anyway, I thought about writing an e-mail but instead I'll make it into a blog entry - it's time for another Youtube Digest! This is where I go through my favorites and "likes" and pick out several clips and write about them, why I like them, etc. I was going to send out an e-mail with all these links, and I will probably still send out an e-mail for you guys to check out my blog, but whatever - this way it's more permanent too.
I'm currently listening to 3 tracks on repeat - all 3 tracks are featured in this blog post! And without further ado... here we go!
Do you like MIDI music? Do you remember listening to Final Fantasy 7 Midi music on your computer? I do! So my first video goes to a video I just discovered yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfrsvfcZ8ZE
This is the FF7 Battle Music, done acapella by one man, but recorded 12 times so he himself does 12 different tracks at the same time. I love the guy in the bottom left; he's responsible for just ~14 notes in the whole song, so he has a lot of spare time on his hands. This is genius, and he seems like a pretty cool guy too.
Here's another one by him, another FF7 song - the Jenova music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7SAEYbTTLI
He's done less than 2 dozen of these, so if you want, you can check out his channel and see some other videogame tunes he has done. I also like the ones where he's clapping or snapping his fingers - here's a bonus one if you don't want to find it yourself :P - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqoJAyt4NQ4
Next on my list, is Jon Cozart. I've been subscribed to him since early 2011 - I thought he makes some neat music-related videos, but to date he only has 14 videos on his channel... until a week ago, when he finally posted another one. I think this one has gotten more attention as other people started liking it too, so now I present it to you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diU70KshcjA - note, that some of the lyrics are a bit... negative? Anyway, just like Smooth McGroove whom I featured above, in this video he's doing acapella with 3 other copies of himself - singing 4 different disney songs, about why disney tales don't really end happily ever after. I think he's got a good voice, it's good to listen to. I love Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.
I already wrote about this one in an e-mail, but here it is again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4Bm3cs9TFo - A DevinSuperTramp video with Flyboards, or Water Jet Packs. All his videos are beautiful and wild and always make you feel good - and this one is especially awesome because of these Jet Packs. They're just so cool.
Oh man, I'm supposed to write this blog entry but I just spent 20 minutes watching more of these videos... oh, they made a "best-of" video, so I recommend you watch that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym4dGPLd5Ww - and now I remember, I think Lindsay Sterling is part of DevinSuperTramp's crew, or vice versa, or they know each other pretty well, cuz she's in that video.
More Family Feud stuff! This never gets old: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsoMnn7oaPo - I love the dance she does.
A few months ago I listened to Barack Obama sing 'Call Me Maybe' - and here he's singing the Pokemon theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYuZlhCPbjM
Each one of these youtube digests might as well have an entry related to "Two Best Friends Play". I'm currently watching 2BFP: Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, since I beat the game already so now I can watch them do it... I think they're better than me =/ But anyway, this entry is for Harry Potter: Kinect. if you haven't played the game, or if you also haven't seen the movies, i think it's a pretty good recap of the entire series - you can enjoy it here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTuSjpWwBxc hehe, Kinect games are always pretty funny.
Here is a Magic Trick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMvEUecUdag&t=0m22s - it uses a very popular technique called the Elmsley count - I don't think I can do it, at least not well, or in front of an audience. But overall I think it's a pretty cool trick. Andyfield posts Magic tricks regularly so I recommend you subscribe to him if you want to stay up to date - or you can just wait for me to send you the ones I like... there's another one he posted recently, but I think it's exclusively on his Facebook page... hmmm... well, here's his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/AndyFieldMagic
^^ On there, there are two videos - the most recent video, Vinh and I watched it, and we're pretty sure we know how to do it - so if you want, you can watch it a few times and try to figure it out yourself! Enjoy! And, the other video's good too, but our sleight of hand's nowhere near that good so I'm not sure how that one's done.
Anyhoo, that's it for this blog entry! Gotta go out for a few minutes, see you soon!
