I keep getting that messed up. Is it March the 4th be With you? Or May the 5th be With You? Or September the 28th be With You? Anyway, I was thinking I would start posting twice a month instead of once a month, but we're 11 days into March now and I've been putting it off. I think I've been more busy at work lately, so I haven't been able to write blog updates, but I digress. Actually, I posted a couple of times on my second blog - just 1 joke, and 2 little entries. Anyway, who knows - maybe I will still end up posting twice in March.
Lately I've been having a lot of dreams about parties, or get-togethers, or Len Duong leadership activities - also about cameras. So there would be a huge party, a lot of friends, or maybe we would be outside, and there would be a lot of Vietnamese guys and girls, and we would be playing soccer or something - Oh, there was this one dream where I was barefoot and it was raining outside, but there was mud and cottages and something about a herd of zebras and tons of other animals - long story short, a lot of things were happening, it was all crazy wild - But I didn't have my camera with me! So I would go through a lot of trouble to go get my camera - I would pretty much "leave" the party to go get my camera. When I got it, it will take me a long time to get back to the main event; Also, sometimes there's something wrong with my camera - low battery, low space, wouldn't turn on properly - and in the end, I would wake up before I got back to the party.
So what does it mean? Maybe it's telling me I should live in the moment, not be so caught up in trying to capture memories to save for the future - Or maybe it's telling me I should bring my camera with me everywhere I go :P Or, maybe it's the first part - I haven't been to Len Duong in a while, nor have I had a huge party like I used to have back in high-school. I haven't even been out to regular VSA events in a while - I sure miss those. It's just that I'm getting kinda old and it's weird hanging out with kids who are over a decade younger than me.
Also, part of me wants new camera equipment! My birthday's coming up, and I'm thinking about getting new camera equipment - my camera is pretty old now, and I want something so I can shoot higher-quality video - I'm thinking about uploading more videos onto youtube. Actually, this topic requires a longer entry so I'll save this for later.
We got a new Kitty Litter Device! How exciting is that? Okay, so the old way of cleaning kitty litter is that every day, you would come and scoop poo-poo out of the litter box and into a bag, and then maybe every week you clear out the entire box of kitty litter and take it out to the curb, and then replace it with new kitty litter. Anyway, this new Kitty Litter device is pretty neat - it's like a container for the cats to do their business, and what you do is you rotate the box, and it would "sift" the kitty poop for you and it goes in its own compartment, so it's easier to scoop and work with. It's quite interesting.
Restaurants have new stuff! First, McDonalds has that new Thai Chicken Bistro - I wasn't thrilled about buying another Chicken Bistro sandwich as I think they're overpriced, but I went and tried it anyway, and yeah, it was overpriced - It wasn't anything too special. Just chicken, cucumber, lettuce, and the spicy thai sauce - but also there were these "crouton"-like things, which were like battered popcorn chicken without the chicken but with a bit of spice, that was a neat part of the sandwich but overall the sandwich is overpriced. The good news is, McDonalds has the thai sauce again, so Jr. Chicken Sandwiches are back in fashion.
KFC now offers Waffle Fries, which I think is interesting. I tried it, it's worth the 50 cent upgrade. Burger King has a new sandwich (pulled pork) and finally, Sweet Potato Fries! Now the decision is tough - I like Burger King Onion Rings, but now I have to choose between ORings and Sweet Potato Fries. Firstworld Problems. Anyway, I tried the Pulled Pork sandwich, and it was... okay. It's weird, because Pulled Pork Sandwiches in regular, real restaurants aren't very special either - bread, pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and not a lot of vegetables. BK's sandwich is the same - has onions on top, but other than, it's pretty basic. The Pulled Pork probably came frozen, so it's not the best quality, but it's still okay. I think it's priced the same as a Fish sandwich - so it's not priced like a gourmet, Steakhouse XT Full Angus Burger or anything.
Swiss Chalet now offers Pasta, but I haven't had the chance to try them yet. Also, Duy and I went to Applebee's on Friday for their "Early Bird" special (if you eat between 2pm and 5pm) - Duy had something from the Early Bird menu, but they are currently offering all-you-can-eat Pasta. That's weird - AppleBee's doesn't offer AYCE anything, but they had this special for AYCE Stuffed Meatball Fettucine - for $10, less than the price of one portion. I just had to try it out - and it was pretty good! It's Alfredo Fettucine, with marinara meatsauce and Provolone stuffed Meatballs, and it comes with Garlic Bread too - it's a pretty good price! I would recommend it at least once.
I bought a new videogame! Lately, I haven't been buying new videogames - well, I guess that's a lie - in November/December I got Halo 4 and Dance Central 3 - but apart from major series, I haven't bought a random third party in a while. So recently, I bought Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and I love the game. It doesn't follow the regular Metal Gear Solid "stealth" game type - instead it's more like Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden; a very flashy and stylish action game. It's not as good as Bayonetta, but it's really good. I beat it once so far, and now I'm playing it on Hard Mode. It pretty much was an impulse buy - kiinda - I saw Two Best Friends play a part of it, and I was instantly hooked - they even said it was similar to Bayonetta - I didn't really read any reviews (like I usually do) and I just got it.
I also bought an Indie Game for $1 called Lucky, and an on-Demand title that was on sale for $3 - El Shaddai. Lucky started good so I bought it when the demo time ran out, but the game ended up being kinda meh. El Shaddai, I remember the demo being weird but really pretty, so I think $3.00 is worth it - although a lot of people on the internet consider it one of the worst games ever. Maybe I'm overexaggerating, but a lot of them do say it's pretty bad.
It's almost March 26th, 2013, which means Bioshock Infinite is coming out! Back in June 2011, Futureshop had a special where if you pre-order 3 games that were shown at E3 that year (2011), you would save a lot of money - so instead of paying $60+$60+$60, you would save $20 per game so essentially $40+$40+$40, or technically you buy two games and get one free. So I got Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Uncharted 3, and Bioshock Infinite. Call of Duty came out in November 2011 (I think), and then Uncharted came out in January 2012. So that's all good... and then there was Bioshock Infinite. For the past 18 months, every 2 weeks, Futureshop.ca would send me an e-mail saying that my pre-order hasn't been fulfilled yet because one of the things I ordered in June 2011 has not been released yet. At first it would say late 2012, and then the game kept getting pushed back, then eventually February 2013, and now finally it's been established as March 26 2013. But soon... it will be released!
That said, I didn't really follow Bioshock, so me buying Bioshock Infinite was kinda me forcing myself into a new game, a new big hit title that was surely going to be great. So I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I kinda am - in any case, hopefully it would still be fun and have a good story line and gameplay mechanics and whatnot.
I'm getting new glasses! Actually, last year, in March 2012, I had my annual optometry appointment and I was supposed to get new glasses then, but I never got around to it. So this year, instead of thinking about it, I just went ahead and pre-ordered them, so I should be getting them in a week or so. Actually, it's something I've been doing more - this time last year, I was unemployed, but right now I'm employed again, even if it's just at WinMagic. Back in June, I wasn't making any money, and I kept a budget where I could only spend so much every week. Now that I'm employed again, it's like... I have too much money. Like, no, not really, but I guess say I'm not being as tight with my money. Doesn't mean I'm buying all the Tarmagoyfs or anything, but every now and then, if I see something I really like, I just get it.
That said, I'm looking into buying new software and new cameras and whatnot. I might even get a phone! Being employed is good if you want a phone. Previously when I bought a new Mac, I bought Adobe Flash from the Adobe store, like a real person is supposed to - for >$500, because that's how much it costs. I'm thinking about upgrading my Adobe Premiere, from Version 6.0, the 'free' version I got from someone in 1999, to the newest version, which will cost me $20/month but I'm more willing to pay it now that I can afford it. I'm thinking about buying Fraps for $37, which I've never done before, but it's good software and it's cheap compared to Adobe Products :P However, I don't think I'm ready to buy Photoshop yet - what I have right now is pretty good. I just have to find it and reinstall it on my new computer.
Hmm... I think that's it for this update. If I think of more stuff I'll try to post another update before the end of March, but we'll see.
