Driving Questions
So the other day, David e-mailed me and said he was reading my last few recent blog posts! So that's cool. I was going to update my other blog a few days ago with a short story that happened a few days ago, but then I got lazy and didn't, but now that David is reading this blog then I thought I would post it here. It was pretty funny.
So Vinh is in the process of taking driving lessons. He hasn't taken the written test yet (so he's obviously not on the road yet) but he did take some classes to prepare him for the written test. Last Sunday morning was his last class (it was only 4 classes long), and that Sunday afternoon we drove to my uncle's place for a BBQ.
On the way there, we (Duy, myself, etc) were quizzing Vinh on different things about driving - you know, the usual. Everything was pretty basic and regular, and Vinh pretty much knew most of everything... until it was my turn to ask the questions.
So I asked Vinh - "When is it okay to drive on the sidewalk?"
Vinh took a few seconds, and then he said "If someone is approaching you very fast from behind, then it's okay to drive on the sidewalk". Duy and I broke out laughing, as our expected answer was "never", but Vinh came up with a scenario and an explanation about when it's okay to drive on the sidewalk. Hahahaha!
So a few more questions went by, and then I asked another question - "Can you drive while wearing sandals?" - Vinh took a few seconds, and said that yeah, you can drive with sandals.
Then my dad chimed in - "How'bout flip-flops?"
Vinh took a few seconds and said "no, not flip-flops, because they're not attached securely enough to your feet" - and once again, we broke out laughing. No, there are no rules on what you can wear while driving. Hahaha!
