January Post Two - better nate than lever
Okay, so in the middle of January I blogged and said that I would post twice in January, but I've been putting it off so it's now early February. Better Nate than Lever, right?
Anyway, so let's see, what happened in January... well, Winterlicious happened in January. Went out to Fred's Not Here, again, it was fun and delicious. I know some of us didn't enjoy the steaks but some of us (Ricky) did, I for one really enjoyed the scallops. Anyway, that's old news - pictures are up on Facebook if you wanted to see them.
The primary new thing that happened in January is that I started playing League of Legends! Groan Groan, Sigh, Sigh, yay, yay, get it out of your system. Alex (Khoi) was playing it all the time, and then Duy started playing it so I decided to give it a spin. At first I was against the idea, because I already played a couple DotA variants (like the custom map on SC2) and I wasn't really a fan... and the idea of investing time into a new game to learn all the things... I dunno, I didn't feel like it. I know in plenty of games, like when I tried DotA, or the time when Jia convinced me to play Diablo II with him, I would be lost trying to figure out what items do. I mean, there's so much text - Sword of Greater Killing, +100 Attack Power, +20% Attack Speed, Unique Activated Ability - blah blah blah. I would probably spend 5 minutes at base trying to read what everything does, while everyone else is out there fighting things. Same in Diablo 2, Jia would kill something and continue on, I would kill something and spend a minute picking up gold and reading what new things do, and the next thing I know, Jia is 10 rooms ahead of me. Overall, not a fun experience.
Anyway, I gave League of Legends a shot, and at first I was a bit rusty so we played against some beginner bots, and it turned out to be a lot of fun. In any case, I started in early January and now it's early February and I'm still playing. I'm level 18 now, but if you don't play LOL then you probably don't care, and if you do play LOL then you probably already know what that means, or whatever. Anyway, as a result of playing LOL, I've been playing less Magic. Well, technically it was because Mai and Jon were home, so there were less cars for us to use in the evenings (especially around 5:00-6:00, when Magic events would start but other people would still be at work), so yeah, I've been going out far less often.
Another thing... well, Alex's computer is pretty bad, so we managed to set up some of our old computers so that they can play LOL, so now every day he comes home, and I turn off my Mac and then he moves the mouse, keyboard and internet into another computer, turns it on, and starts using it. So during the day, i would use my Mac to program my game(s), and then when Alex gets home I turn off my Mac and stop using it for the rest of the night. So... yeah... LOL has been removing me from some of my other hobbies as well, kiinda. I mean, I would usually go to Magic, and then either before or after, I would come on youtube and check out my dailies - which I haven't been doing for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I've got a lot of videos to catch up on. Similarly, since I'm always working on my game and at night I don't have access to my Mac, I haven't been blogging either. I'm blogging right now because I just completed a milestone for my game, so I'm taking a little bit of a break today, or at least for a couple of hours.
Anyway, now that it's February, what else is new? Well, Mai and Jon have just moved into a new apartment in Toronto, where Jon is working at the moment, as an assistant chef manager or something. They took two of the cats with them, so now we're left with just Meowzers, who, surprisingly, is a little more affectionate (or needy) now that the other two cats are gone. So that's a little different now. Hmm... What else... Google Wave is Read-Only now, so bye bye Google Wave. I wonder if people are reading this blog now... hmm. Well, okay, I guess that's it.
So, it's February now, so hopefully I'll blog twice again this month. Until next time!Labels: league of legends
