Blog Update: October 2011

Oh noes! It's Monday, October 31st, 2011, and I have but 10 hours left to write a blog entry so that I continue the goal of 1 post per month. I've been putting it off, as usual, so today is the day I have to do it. I kinda want to get some work done today before I head off to EDH (guess who's not serving Halloween Candy tonigh!) but whatever, blogging is important too, right?

So let's see… my notes for my next blog update says I should write about…

Katy Perry - well, I was supposed to say something last month, but I forgot. Anyway, I remember hearing her song, "Last Friday Night", like, when it first came out, and I swore that I heard the line "Had a Menage a Trois", but then each subsequent time I heard the song on the radio, I didn't hear that line. So for a while, I thought I was going crazy, so I checked google and indeed, the line was in the song. Then I listened to the radio again, and yeah, the aforementioned line is sometimes replaced, and sometimes she doesn't sing during that phrase at all! So yeah, the song was censored for radio play, or maybe I first heard it on a radio station after midnight, or something like that. So the moral of the story is that I am not crazy.

I wrote that I wanted to write something about dreams, but the feeling's gone, and nobody really wants to read about dreams. But lately I've been having some awesomely vivid dreams, and/or awesomely awesome dreams. I had a flash mob in a dream, and a lip dub in another dream, and I reunited with old old friends, and just last night I was in some action tv show where some woman's daughter was kidnapped. Good times, good times. So the moral of this story is that sometimes in my dreams, I could be crazy. Also in one dream I remembered the ending to Full Metal Alchemist, and in the dream I thought it was the saddest ending ever. And you know what? It is indeed pretty sad.

Just yesterday, on Sunday, October 30th, I had my food party. So there was a Wagjag for 10 pounds of chicken wings and 10 pounds of sweet potato fries, and the deal was that I had to go pick them up between Oct27 and Oct31, and I knew I wouldn't have much room in the freezer so I decided to have a food party. Not a lot of people showed up, but overall the event went satisfactorily. The idea was also that I would have cupcakes catered, because I had another groupon for that, but long story short the deal was different than expected so I got a refund for those groupons, and alas, no cupcakes were delivered.

Speaking of Food Groupons, I signed up for a two-week meal plan, in which a special chef will prepare meals for me and deliver them to my house. It's a bit confusing, but I think a week of food consists of 12 meals, usually 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 4 dinners, but you can opt to have 12 dinners instead, which is probably more worth it. I think the deal is that they will deliver 3 meals to you, 4 times a week, for two weeks. I'm interested to see how this will turn out… also, as a thank you for buying the deal, they'll also throw in a big cake, so that's awesome. The deal was $149 for the 24 meals, so that's about $6.25 a meal, and a meal should feed 2+ people, I think, so that's a good deal.

I still play Magic, yes. Nowadays I go to card stores three times a week; once for EDH/Commander, once for Standard, and once for Draft. I made an awesomely fun standard deck and I just itch to play it whenever I get the chance.

I am still working on my iPhone game, yes. A few weeks ago I had my first face to face meeting with Jody, my friend who will be artisting my game, and we made some design decisions and stuff. Anyway, as with last time, most of the game's infrastructure is done, but now I gotta populate levels and different weapon types and enemy types. See, I'm usually good at designing and programming games, but I'm far worse at creating content… and iPhone games need a lot of content.

I've been watching more TV and movies too… nowadays, I still watch Criminal Minds, CSI Miami, Community, Fringe, and so on… but I've added a few more regular shows, such as Pan AM, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS Los Angeles, CSI (regular), and so on. Pan AM is not my usual type of show, but I do enjoy it. Not sure how to explain it. Girls are pretty and I like Christina Ricci, I guess. As for youtube, I still watch Two Best Friends Play, and lately I've been watching more Starcraft2 casts.

Ever since watching Cinderella I've been a fan of that carrying technique where I straighten my arms, and stack things between my hands and my chin.

Wanna know a secret about me? I have this thing where I don't like people to know what I did during a specific amount of spare time… for the most part, this only applies to one thing: So for example, let's say I go to work (WinMagic) on Monday, and I talk with co-workers and so on. Then, on Monday night, I go get a haircut. Then, on Tuesday morning, I go back to work and my co-workers notice my haircut and mention it. In other words, my co-workers can infer that I got a haircut on Monday night… and for some reason, that bothers me. Maybe it's because haircuts are like, a "major" change, and I don't want people to know what I did with my spare time on Monday after work.

Therefore, I usually get haircuts during the weekend. So they see me Friday, and then they see me Monday, and they can infer that I got a haircut during the weekend, and that is somehow infinitely less bothering than if they knew I got it on a certain day. So… that's one secret about me.

Anyway, that's about it. Next month it is November. Tomorrow, November 1st, Uncharted 3 is coming out, and Futureshop will ship it to me and I can start playing it, woot!! Also, Dance Central 2 came out a few days ago, but Mai wants me to wait for her to come back before I start playing it. I can however play Uncharted 3, and then she will come back with Jon and them two would play Uncharted together.

Also in November, it will be Alan's birthday, as well as Vinh's and Alex's, so look forward to more eating out at restaurants that have chicken for us to eat.
