Blog Update: September 2011

Okay, so I wanted to get a blog update in before the end of September. Maybe I'll blog once a month, just to write a little something here and there. Lol, I wrote something on the 2nd of August, and now it's the last week in September. Maybe next week I'll write something on the ~4th of October and then I won't have to write again until the ~28th of November. hehe.

Anyway, I wanted to blog a while ago, because I wanted to blog before TV Season Premieres started… oh well, too late, I guess. Criminal Minds, CSI Miami, CSI, Big Bang Theory, Community, Fringe, and etc have all started already, and a bunch of new shows have too… Person of Interest, New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, Whitney… umm… etc… anyway, I don't really want to blog about that, so I won't.

So over the past few weeks, I've been taking advantage of the Central Parkway movie theatres and going to see the $3.00 movies. I find that I don't go out to real movies anymore, even on Tuesdays… last movie I saw in real theatres was Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but I guess nowadays we're lazy and all that so we don't go out anymore. I mean, a lot of us work, and nowadays on Mondays and Fridays I spent my nights playing Magic at Untouchables.

Anyway, so over the past few weeks I saw X-Men: First Class, Kung Fu Panda 2, Cowboys & Aliens, and just this past Friday, I saw Captain America. I wanted to see Friends with Benefits but the schedule changed and I hadn't realized, so I ended up seeing Captain America. X-Men was good, Kung Fu Panda 2 was also good, I recommend them. I didn't really like Cowboys & Aliens, and I didn't care much for Captain America. I guess I don't really follow Captain America… then again, I don't follow Iron Man but I liked the Iron Man movies. Captain America felt like too much more of the same, cookie-cutter superhero movies.

iPhone-wise, I'm still in the midst of programming an iPhone game, using Adobe Flash / Adobe AIR. I'm working with my friend Jody, and he'll be doing graphics for me, and of course he's helping with designing the game, but I'll be doing the majority (or all) of the programming. Most of the base programming is done, just gotta add levels and weapons and enemies. Actually there's probably still a lot of programming to be done, but everything's working right now, but it's not all optimized. Also, I found out early that one of the things I wanted to do (have connectivity to OpenFeint, etc) is not possible with Adobe AIR at the moment, so that's a bummer. Anyway, I'll talk more about the game in the next few blog updates, but that's it for now.

Videogame-wise, I've finished Bastion a while ago, and just recently received the soundtrack in the mail, woohoo. Yesterday (Sunday) I spent 3 hours playing The Baconing, which is the 3rd installment in the Deathspank Series. It's still pretty funny, so I'm enjoying that. At one point Deathspank told a pun, and in the next scene he had sunglasses on and the CSI Miami YEAH came up, it was lololol. In other gaming news, I have my eye open for a game called Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as it looks pretty awesome (graphic-wise) and it seems like an open-ended action/adventure game. Anyway, it's been out for a month or two, so I'll probably end up skipping it, or maybe buying it used in a few months.

On Youtube, I've been watching this series called "Two Best Friends Play", and it's about these two best friends playing videogames. Imagine if Jia and Rama were playing a new videogame, and they would be either jerks to each other, or jerks to the characters in the game, and they would often do silly things or joke to each other about things. It's kinda like that. Similarly, sometimes one of them would be Isaque-like and bring over some game that nobody knows, and they would play that. That's kinda funny too.

Anyway, I started watching this a few months ago with 2BFP Mortal Kombat, but recently I've watched them play Earth Defense Force: 2017, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Street Fighter 3, Man vs. Wild (with Bear Grylls), and a few other ones. If I had to guess, I would say Ambrose would enjoy these as much as I do. The humor is sometimes crude and rude, but overall I like it. Here are a few links to them:

Man vs Wild was pretty hilarious too, since it doesn't look like a great game to begin with.

OH MAN - I just watched 2BFP Catherine, that was okay. They had a Strongbad reference! And of course they also referenced their past videos too. Good stuff. I guess I'll put the link for the playlist here: http://www.youtube.com/show/twobestfriendsplay?s=3

Hmmm… Okay, that's enough of this blog! Next blog update in 5-35 days!
