The Psychology of Renting
It's been a while since we've rented a game, or the more general case, "had a game for a limited amount of time"... but this weekend, Mai and Jon came back, so that night we went to Blockbuster, and there I took the opportunity to rent Bayonetta. Also, Jia came back, so the next day we went shopping, and Jia bought two games, Darksiders and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
But first, let me tell you a bit about my recent history of purchasing games. Most of these were during the Christmas season, when prices are low. Let's see... Brutal Legend, Ratchet and Clank, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Band Hero, Guitar Hero World Tour, Street Fighter IV, Bionic Commando, Madworld, Assassin's Creed 2, and Halo: ODST. We've played the Halo: ODST multiplayer (which is just Halo multiplayer with extra maps), and I've started playing Assassin's Creed 2, but the rest of the games... are UNTOUCHED. UN. TOUCHED. Just collecting dust. Well, they're not going anywhere. I own them. So I can just play them... some... other time, right? Save them for a rainy day. Or if there's suddenly a poisonous plague that prevents people from going outside, and internet is down, then at least I'll have some entertainment.... yesh, that's my plan. I'm guessing Ambrose is waiting for that poisonous plague too?
BUT NOW... Jia is over, so we have Darksiders for a couple of days and Tatsunoko vs Capcom for a couple days, and I rented Bayonetta so I have that for about a week. For these games, I cannot wait for the zombie plague. I have to play them NOW, or else my opportunity is over, or, in with regards to Bayonetta, I WOULD'VE WASTED MONEY. Yes, if I don't play Bayonetta, I would've wasted about $6 or $7 dollars, unlike Brutal Legend, where it's impossible to waste the $40 because I own it. Yes yes.
So, when Jia was over, played Darksiders for about 45 minutes, then Bayonetta for 45 minutes, and we played a lot of Tatsunoko vs Capcom with the party guests and by ourselves (unlocking characters, like Frank West) for the rest of the night. It's a really enjoyable game; really pretty, a lot of fun, great characters and great graphics. Jia owes me $55, so maybe I should get it, haha. Only problem is, not too many of us play fighting games so not sure if it's worth it. Darksiders was ookay. But...
Bayonetta
I AM REALLY ENJOYING Bayonetta. I'm glad I rented it instead of buying it, haha, although it really is so great, that I should support SEGA and buy it. Also, I don't think I will complete it by the time my rental period ends, and... yeah, overall, I love the game. But yes, I'm glad I rented it, otherwise I probably wouldn'tve played it. I played the demo, and loved it, so I probably would've bought the game except that I ended up renting it first. But, I digress. Onto the game.
Fun. Graphically awesome. Very stylish; I mean, the game is stylish, the presentation is top notch, overall, Sega put a lot of work into making this game awesomer than it needs to be. It's probably easiest to describe it as a mix of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, both already very stylish games. Bayonetta takes those two games and makes it even awesomer, with really awesome cinematics, a sexy, confident witch chick main character, a very fun soundtrack, and really fast gameplay. There's also a story, although it's a bit weird and hard to follow. Every now and then there's some cheesiness but I assume it's intended. Like both DMC and NG, the game takes you through some pretty hellish levels so it's not for the faint of heart.
Game starts off pretty easy, and then WHAM! Difficulty goes up massively. There's a few bosses in each level (characters with lifebars) and eventually those bosses become recurring enemies, which is pretty darn crazy. Over the past couple of levels (and I'm a bit more than half-way through the game) I've often been in shock with the number of boss enemies they're throwing at you, and the increasing time between checkpoints...
So, it's getting hard, but I'm enjoying it so much ("that''s what she said"). And I still have two more difficulties after "Normal"... I sure hope there's a New Game +, or else I'll never be able to afford the high-cost items...

Anyway, I last posted in January, so now it's February! LOST is being amazing, or at least pretty good, and the Olympics are deep under way and I've been watching a lot of that. To be honest, I didn't intend to pay much attention to the Olympics, but I do... well, I don't pay thaat much attention to it, but I do watch it pretty often. Oh! They also have Canadian highlights on Xbox360, so I can spend maybe 10 minutes a day just watching highlights straight from my 360. I think that's pretty neat.
Winterlicious Events are over, had lots of fun and ate different foods. Hmm... I've been listening to Lady Gaga a lot more lately, haha. Maybe I consider it a guilty pleasure. Whenever we hear her on the radio we listen to it, even if it's "Bad Romance", even though I don't really like that song as much as the other two famous ones. This Saturday, gonna bake a clafoutis with Ricky :) Should be fun. I should probably prepare something for that... Sunday, Magic stuff. Should be fun too. Anyway... I guess that's it for this entry! Ciao!
