Jamaica, Jamaica, the essence of Asia
Jamaica tomorrow! Blog update today! But first, a little addition to the last post (which you should read, if you haven't yet)
Misc 6 of 5: Random Puff Pastry Night
So Random Ravioli Night never happened, or hasn't happened yet, but the cousins, Vinh, myself, Mai, and Jon decided to have a quasi-Random Puff Pastry lunch/dinner. Well, it wasn't random like the Ravioli Night will be, but long story short, we went to Loblaws, we bought Puff Pastry stuff, chicken, and lamb, and then we were to buy our own stuff to put into our Puff Pastry. So Mai had spinach and cheese and Cream of Chicken soup to go with her Chicken, I had red peppers, spinach, onions, cheese, and a touch of BBQ sauce to go with our Lamb. Vinh had Lamb and Potato. Khoi shared with me, Mai shared with Quyen, and Jon made something else, I forget.
Overall, good times, good food. Turned out pretty great.
So, time to update blog...
Anyway, I always wanted to open a restaurant, where all it served was frozen dinners, except for maybe steamed vegetables. Not just frozen dinners, but also stuff like No-Name Ribs and Chicken Wings. Sure, you could buy them at a supermarket but then you'd have to prepare it yourself and that's not fun. So we'll serve that too. So I could have a restaurant where the kitchen is mostly just microwaves. Yes, a restaurant that serves food that was frozen not too long ago.
But wait. A restaurant like that already exists: IHOP.
Okay, so IHOP is great for Breakfast, but for lunch and dinner, it's pretty bad. My fried beef steak, my mashed potatoes, even my broccoli, tastes like it was frozen, thawed, and microwaved not too long ago. I think everything that's not pancakes and egg came either in a frozen or powdered form.
My mom ordered a salad that had lettuce, chicken, and apples, and when it came out, we noticed it didn't have any apples. So we told them to bring us the apples, and they brought back a sealed package of apple slices. They don't even cut their own apples! They get them pre-sliced from some company! Ugh.
So yeah. I don't recommend IHOP for dinner, but it's a nice place to go for Breakfast. At the least, it's a novelty if it's your first time, since they have so many pancake/etc selections.
So anyway, last weekend we went to New York, checked out some places to live for Mai, and did a bit of sight-seeing and shopping and stuff. Not much to say, really. It was mostly shopping, and it was pretty hot and most of the shopping was clothing shopping, except the last day when we went to an outlet-mall-sorta-thing so I managed to buy a few used-games and some DVDs and novelty T-shirts. And that's it for New York!
Anyway, I wanted to mention a few Xbox Live Arcade or Community Games... I just bought a new one called Shadow Complex, which was highly anticipated since E3, because it looks pretty similar to Super Metroid, and it is. Alan and David saw it a few days ago, and they like it too :) It's 1200 points, so it's not cheap, but if Duy plays it then it's more worth it, right? :P
Anyway, so a few hours after Alan and David left, I beat the game, at about 8 hours and 45 minutes. Then I played another 4 hours or so to get 100% of the items. There were some frustrating parts in the game, particularly with aiming, and at the end of the game you're pretty much broken and absurdly powerful, but it's so damn stylish and awesome and I love it. I highly recommend it.
Then I got this Community game for 80 points (so like, $1.15) that is so awesome; it's called "I made a game with zombies in it", but with weird spelling... so that was a pretty awesome game for cheap. So to counteract this awesomeness, I bought a bad game for 80 points, haha. It's not so bad, it's just not good, but I felt like buying it. It's called "Who did I date last night?" The game presents you with a problem, which is you had a date last night but you have slight amnesia, but you remember a few details, like hair colour, and some interests, and stuff like that. So the game presents you with like, 30 pictures of women, and you have to guess which one matches the descriptions :P
Lastly for today's short update, I recently traded 8 games into EB, for Wii Sports Resort, another Wii Motion Plus accessory, and a PS2, because David needed one since he was moving out. Wii haven't tried Wii Sports Resort yet, haha, too busy with Shadow Complex :P And then it turns out David bought a PS2 while I was in New York, and EB is being bitchy and stupid about it so long story short, I'm stuck with a PS2, which is worth only $20 store credit. Anyone need one? :P
Anyway, that's it! It's 11:55 now, and... I guess I should go to bed now. We're going to Jamaica for a week, so I guess we'll see you on Sunday! And read the previous entry. It feels sad being still double queued :(
