Less Rock More Talk

I love this subject title, I thought of it on Saturday night. However, the topic isn't as happy. The other day, the bass foot pedal of my Rock Band drum kit broke. Like, the thing broke in half, so that sucks. Eric came over that day and witness my pedal braking* in half, and then we went out and he bought Rock Band for himself and I bought Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore. Anyway, so we played some more Rockband later and it was okay. Had dinner at Montana's with Eric and Ambrose and Duy and Vinh, it was excellent. For some reason I always thought of Montana's as... well... not thaat great, but I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner of ribs, wings, vegetables and mashed potatoes. MMMMM.....

* - i see what you did there

Anyway, today I went to the Support/EA website and they'll be sending me a replacement pedal soon! AND THEN I will send them my broken part back, yay. So it should be okay. I'm considering spending $30-$40 on a metal-pedal thingy that supposedly works pretty well - better than the regular pedal, and pretty much unbreakable. But for now I wait for this new pedal.

In other Rock Band news (since you all love to read Rock Band news, don't you?), I'm now 62/64 songs through Hard mode drums, I'm stuck in 3 songs in Expert Drums (which I guess is okay, since I won't have drums to play with for a while), and I'm 62/64 songs through Expert mode in Guitar. I think I'm about 50/64 songs through Expert vocal, so I'm becoming quite... everythingy. In a few updates I'll probably post some kind of chart, like a sign-up sheet, for the Expert Endless Setlist.

In other news, the new Karaoke game is somewhat... unspectacular. But we'll probably keep it anyway. Besides, shaking your head out to "What is Love" is always fun.

"Mamaaaaa.... oooh ooh oooh (any way the the wind blows)..."

Portal / Portal

The writing in Portal is really good! I love the talking computer (GLaD) and everything she says, it's great writing at its greatest. Anyway, Alan requested some Portal stuff, so here it is. Spoilers of course.

Why I don't have a DS

Considering how much I play, it's kind of a surprised that I don't have a DS. Well... I just don't want one. I think I already play enough games that I don't need to play more, or I don't really want to play more. Additionally, I'm not really a fan of... small games... like... I'm not a fan of a lot of virtual console games, and I'm not the type who plays on emulators. Occasionally there may be a game I want to play (like Final Fantasy VI), but most of the time I'm not interested in such small games.

Furthermore, I still think of videogames as... sort of geeky. I don't usually like to talk about many videogames out in public. Also, I don't like to be classified as a geek while in public, nor do I want to attract attention to the fact that I'm a geek. If I'm riding the GO Train, you'd probably find me sleeping/resting, or listening to an ipod, but I probably wouldn't be the type to pull out a DS and start playing. If I did, I'd have headphones, but I still probably wouldn't be playing.

And that's why I don't have a DS.
