Endless Setlist Party and Bao's Birthday Party
Whee, we did the endless setlist! That was a fun party. Didn't have quite as many people as I thought we would've... Amish said he'd come by... Ryan was gonna come and bring beer, and Jody was going to come too, for the early afternoon... but then Jody became busy in the afternoon, and he was busy at night, and Jody was Ryan's ride, so neither of them come... I expected a few others to come but they didn't... so that's the negative.
The positive is that we still had fun, and we finished the endless setlist. Also, after we finished it, a few unexpected friends came and we rockbanded out a bit more, that was good. Haven't seen those unexpected friends for a while, so it was a pleasant surprise. Anyway, video should be up on facebook in a few days, and then I'll probably stream it on my blog too for those non-face users.
::edit:: Video is up! Here is 12 minutes, in a streaming flash file.

I think the difficulties we chose were pretty good. Some newcomers still had tough times with medium bass and medium drums, but what can ya do. Next time... hard all? Or who wants to skip on to do expert all? Bwahaha. I gotta do better with drums before we can even attempt that, and then when we do it, I'll probably be drumming for the 5-6 hours straight... although one of the people who came at the end was a great drummer too, she can probably do half too... anyway...
Yesterday I had the wonderful time to convert all the videos so I can use them tonight... we have lots of footage, it'll be interesting to cut it down into a short time. Also, since my computer was doing so much stuff, I had time to watch some more anime... watched 5 episodes of Mushishi, 15-19, so I'm almost done, yay. Mushishi is good.

Anyway, my birthday's coming up! Anyway, I'm thinking I want to do something slightly different this year. Actually, I wanted to do something different last year, but it turns out we didn't. This year, I want to go somewhere else... not just our house. We've always had parties at our house, but I want to try something different. Right now... I'm thinking Dave and Buster's.
For those that don't know, Dave & Buster's (D&B's) is most commonly referred to as "Chuck E. Cheese's for Adults". So there are games, pool tables, restaurants and bars. You can probably still play skeeball and get tickets and trade them in for prizes. But then there's a bigger arcade place (think Playdium) and there's a bar and you can order food likes wings and fries, but I think they also serve real dinner stuff like burgers and chicken breasts. We went there for Mai's birthday and it was fun! I don't usually play arcade games, and I still didn't play that many that night, but watching others play, and just spending time with them, that's fun.
There are other things we can do - like paintball*, go karting*, movie, dinner, bar, club... but I kinda wanna go somewhere a bit more... adult, but not too adult. I mean, go karting sounds like a little kid's thing, and this may come as a surprise to some of you, but I didn't actually like paintballing. Why not a club? Well, I think a bunch of you wouldn't like that. On a scale of wildness/exoticness, we have
0 - My house
1 - Movie + Dinner, Playdium
2 - Go-kart, paintball
3 - Dave and Buster's
4 - Bar
5 - Club
6 - ???
(7 - profit)
* wen's ideas
Well, I just made up that list right now (or is it "I just made that list up right now?"), but what I mean is... some people wouldn't like paintball, and a lot of you wouldn't like clubbing. If I force Duy to go clubbing, he won't have fun... he'll be too "out of his element", "out of his comfort zone", so I wouldn't want to do that. Also note that it seems to get more adult as you go down the list... that is, more alcohol and more women-related stuffs.
Anyway, I think Dave & Buster's is a pretty good fit between "sitting around playing videogames" and "drinking yourself blind", so I think it's a good idea. Those who want to drink can drink, those who just want to play can just play, those who want to watch can watch, and those who want to do everything can do everything. Actually, my whole idea includes some playing at home...
tentative idea:
Saturday, March 15th, 2008: Bao's Birthday Party
3:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Bao's House. Hang out, eat chips, drink pop, play 8-player halo, rockband, smash brother's brawl
7:30 pm - 1:00 am: Dave & Buster's. Dinner, play games, have fun, drink, socialize.
That's my plan. However, I want to go to D&B's only if we have enough people... if it's just me, Ambrose, Ray, Alan, Duy, Hawk, and Eric, then... mehh... we might as well just stay home and play games, or go out to eat at Baton Rouge and then go back and play more. However, if we have some more socialites like Jody, Ryan, Alfie, Meredith, and some of Mai's friends, then yeah, going to D&B would be great.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the idea of trying something new, but too new? Or would you guys rather just stay at home and play videogames and drink at home?
