I can’t play PS3 anymore…
Originally, I was going to use the titile “PS3 sucks” but I think I’ve used it before. So anyway, I can’t play the PS3 anymore, or I won’t allow myself to play it anymore. The controller just sucks too much.
First, I noticed in Tales of the Abyss, sometimes my Guy would continue moving in some direction, even after I’ve let go of the stick. Every now and then the PS3 loses its wireless connection with the controller, and then your character would just act on its own, as if you’re still holding down certain buttons. It sucks, but usually in Tales, you won’t take too much damage, or nothing too bad happens since all your teammates are still fine.
But… I can’t play Ninja Gaiden Sigma anymore. Controller malfunctions may be “OKAY” in some games, but in a time-sensitive game like NGS, where every split second counts, I can’t have the controller stop working every 5 minutes. On average, it screws up every 5 minutes. So every 5 minutes, you might just stand there and run into a corner while an enemy beats up on you. Or you might be charging an ultimate attack, get hit, and then continue to charge the ultimate attack because “you’re still holding down” the charge. Or you might somehow charge, get out of it, and then try to throw a shuriken by pressing the projectile button, but apparently “I’m still holding down” heavy attack, so I use up a ninpo.
And the worst thing happened the other day, when MY CONTROLLER SHUT ITSELF OFF during the battle. I haven’t saved for 30 minutes and my controller shuts itself off. I was fighting a low level group of fighters, and my controller turns itself off, and I die, because I can’t move, I can’t do anything. And at the time, it’s not like I knew my controller turned off. I thought it just lost signal-connection like usual, so I’m just button smashing until I get control back, but I never did.
So, that’s it. I really like NGS, but if I’m going to get really angry every 5 minutes, I don’t see why I should play it. So I can’t play PS3 anymore.
In other news, out of the 6 Germans that came, 4 of them have gone home, and 2 are left to stay until ~Tuesday. We’re back at work every day now, and they’re either at home relaxing, or going out, seeing some more sights and doing some more shopping. When we come home, we probably play a couple games of Starcraft, but otherwise, it’s pretty relaxing. This weekend, Duy, Bao, myself, and the two Germans are going camping with the Vietnamese. Raphaela (the girl German) has never gone camping before so it should be interesting. It’s not the roughest type of camping, so it shouldn’t be too bad. Additionally, today we're having a young German visit from Germany, I think he'll be doing some contract work for WinMagic, but he'll be staying out our place. Maybe he'll go camping too!
I bought 300 on DVD yesterday (regular, not blue/HD). Not sure what else I’m looking for now, until Halo 3 in November and Super Smash Brothers Brawl in December. I hope everyone will join us when we get Smash, and we can all learn together and get better at the same time, so that everyone can participate fairly at parties, rather than the usual split between the group of hardcore smashees and the more casual group…

And like I said, here is the link to the Miami/Cruise pictures! Touristy pictures aren’t up yet, so I’ll work on that! Enjoy!
