a somewhat musically kawaii post
A short recap of some things that happened recently:
Clubbing
Last Friday was Cindy’s birthday celebration in downtown at the Mink Club; Cindy’s a Vietnamese girl from work, close friend to ours. My sister, Tony, Tony’s girlfriend, and I went, along with a few dozen of Cindy’s other friends. It was a nightclub, with drinking and dancing and all that, and it was fun! I haven’t been clubbing in a while, so it was a good break from the… umm, not clubbing.
Apparently it was Tony’s mission to hook me up with a girl, and needless to say it was pretty funny. Eventually Tony and Meena (Tony’s GF) started dancing with some girl, so I joined – I later found out that Mai introduced Meena to Christine, one of Cindy’s friends, but at the time I thought it was some random person that Meena found.
Here is a pic of me and Christine. Tony placed my arms like that… also, Tony and Meena applied some gel to my hair before we left. Anyway, the rest of the night was fun, and it was cool meeting some of the girls. I haven’t gotten back in contact with Christine yet though…
This Friday is one of Alfie’s friends’ birthday celebration at another night club, and I’m going to that, so it should be fun too.
There’s a New Guitar Hero in town…
And his name is Vinh. Recently he beat Medium difficulty with no problems, and yesterday he finished Hard mode, with having to repeat only one song, “Crazy On You”, on level 6. Wow, it’s pretty cool watching your little brother get really good at the game. He’s better than me in some ways!
He’s better with the HOPO techniques (Hammer Ons, Pull Offs) than I am, and I think his rhythm is better too. He has a higher score than me on Carry Me Home (which Wen didn’t finish yet), and yesterday I played against him in Freebird expert (which he hasn’t gotten to yet), but he beat me! ARGHH!!! … but it’s pretty cool. I’m still better in some ways, until he beats expert, heh…
So my wish is coming true sooner than expected. Soon I will have someone to co-op freebird with me…
Impulse Buy #2
Last week I impulse bought Castlevania, Symphony of the Night for XboxLiveArcade. A few hours ago, I was reading a newsletter from Rogers Video, and then I read – featured rental – Super Paper Mario! What? It’s out? That’s cool – I love paper Mario games! So, I check Gamefaqs, there are 3 reviews, each 10/10, with one claiming “best game ever made”. I call EB, they have it in stock, and within 5 minutes, I was out the door. I walked to Blockbuster, same price same everything, bought it there instead, and then came home.
On another note, C&C3, Tiberium Wars is out. I’m trying out the demo now, and it’s alright. As you can predict, graphics are better, UI is different, but gameplay is virtually unchanged. I guess there’s not much new you can do with strategy games… but cutscenes have some famous people… there’s Grace Park (Boomer) from Battlestar Galactica, Sawyer from Lost, that girl from House, etc… anyway, I’ll try the demo out for a bit longer, and then if we can get more people into it, maybe I’ll get it! Jeff’s got it already…
Mozart Lexus Music
I think I’ve posted about this before – it’s the Mozart song from the lexus commercial, and until now, I only had the music from the commercial. But the author of the song, the Grayson Matthews recording company e-mailed me because they released the full version song on iTunes, so I got it. Yay!
In case you’re wondering what I’m listening to nowadays… well, I don’t think you’re curious, but here, I’m opening myself a bit more, letting go of secret desires or whatever, haha. I’m listening to:
Madonna – Hung Up (largely influenced because David keeps bringing it up)
Alanis Morissette – My Humps (parody of My Humps by Black Eyed Peas – I like this song!)
Grayson Matthews – Madame (the lexus/Mozart thing)
Tatu – All The Things She Said (actually I started listening to this song a long time ago, but haven’t looked for more Tatu songs until recently. There. My secret. I listen to Tatu, dunno if that’s taboo or weird or anything. I think Tatu is a group of two girls who are pretty much in love with each other. Check the music video for All The Things She Said)
Tatu – All About Us (Recently searched for more Tatu songs on Youtube, so now I listen to this one too)
Movie – Inside Man (I finally “audioized” the movie, and now I listen to it a lot)
And rounding up the list, are various Guitar Hero songs. So, there ya have it.
Kawaii!
Isaque sent me a link to this video (embedded above if it's working) – it’s the opening credits to a new anime called Lucky Star. The opening credits are so cute! I especially love the very start and the very end when they’re dancing and singing. Anyway, the first episode is out so I downloaded and sjust watched it – it’s very cute. They have strange conversation topics such as food, cuteness, glasses vs contact lenses, cold vs flu, sleep, videogames, friends, and food… but it’s all very cute.
And while we’re on the topic of Kawai…
