April the Fourth Be with You… o_O
Another rather uneventful week… go to work, go home, play games, surf interweb… not much new. I haven’t gone to many VSA events lately, involving girls and drinking and dancing or whatever else. I guess I got tired of that scene, so I took a bit of a break. I said I’d blog about some game shows, or I’ll blog more about my game… I guess I don’t deliver, eh? Anyway, I haven’t worked on my game since that other topic, and I’ve been working more on the Beartato side-scrolling game. Here, try it out! I think it’s pretty good right now. Wen also agrees =)

China
Okay, our China trip is finally planned and booked! After a few weekends of meeting, looking over 5 different tour itineraries, comparing prices, finding cheaper alternatives and lots of planning. Now Ray, Duy, Geoff and I are going to China+HK near the end of May, with TourEast tours, going to visit a bunch of cities and see a bunch of wonderful stuff. Should be fun!
Guitar Hero vs Guitar Lessons
This seems to come up a lot when you talk about Guitar Hero, especially when the topic of “practicing” comes up. Wen and Ray always compare practicing Guitar Hero to practicing real guitar. I don’t really see it like that – I still think of GH as a videogame, and it’s a fun one. Like all videogames, this game also has challenges and levels, and if you get stuck on a level, you have to practice your techniques and practice that level over and over until you can beat it. Anyway, I don’t think I’ll switch to real guitar anytime soon…
Anyway, I was talking to Wen recently, and he’s pretty much moved on from GH. He’ll still play it casually, but right now he’s more focused on Lego Star Wars II and then FFXII. So he’s no longer striving toward perfection in Guitar Hero… but that’s okay. Although It’d be nice to play with someone the same skill level as me (I don’t want to brag, but hey, it’s true). So I guess I won’t be playing co-op freebird expert with anyone anytime soon… unless… Jason? David? Wanna take on the challenge?
On my end, I finally beat Freebird on expert. And I have it on tape too! I recorded all of the songs on expert that I’ve beaten (and died too, heh). So yes, I finally got back to Freebird expert, and beat it. However, I tried it a few times after that, and haven’t beaten it again yet… it’s still hard. Now I’m trying out all the other bonus songs, and every now and then I play with Vinh… pro-faceoff, expert mode. Needless to say, I crush him if I’m playing seriously, but he seems to be enjoying it. I guess he’s getting better.
Since I’m playing semi-competitively now (play for points, instead of survival), I registered myself on ScoreHero.com. I’m like the 2000th best player, haha. I guess I will still play GH2 for a while because I enjoy it. I also have all these recordings of mine, complete with many, many mistakes, haha. I could make it a goal to re-record them, without mistakes. I’m not a perfectionist, but I would like to have less mistakes, hehe. Also, when I get GH1 back, I have plenty of things to do on that one.
Other Videogame stuffs
Find Mii is still fun, Tanks is still fun, although I need a 2nd nunchuk. We’ve had so much experience, people are amazed that my sis and I are so awesome at looking for Miis. The others are just staring at the screen, while my sis and I spot things in an instant. Nowadays, we’re making more miis so we can see them in Mii Find… sure, we can make more people, but lately we’ve been making… weird people, people that look like animals or other things. It’s pretty funny.
Yesterday I turned on my xbox 360 after a long while of not playing it (Still haven't played Lost Planet), and shortly later I made an impulse buy of the night. I was playing Castlevania, Symphony of the night, which reminded me of Duy having fun with that Castlevania game on the DS. I read some reviews about SOTN and I hear it’s pretty good. Anyway, I got to a save point, but I couldn’t save in the demo version… so I bought the full thing, heh.
Weekend
So, what’s happening this weekend? It’s a 4-day weekend with Good Friday and Easter Monday… Friday night I’m going to Toronto to celebrate a friend’s birthday… and this weekend my cousins from Montreal are coming over. I think Wen’s staying in Waterloo, McMaster people may or may not come back, not sure yet. We should perhaps have some party or usual ‘large get-together’. Maybe see a movie?
Song of the Day
I like the Guitar Hero 2 music, so I think I should post a few of the songs. Here is my rendition of Carry on My Wayward Son, complete with beeps and unplayed notes =) (5mb)
Bao's version of Carry On My Wayward Son (5mb) - Enjoy! Haha
