The Breads that are Sweet
The three major influences are whether or not something is special, whether or not something tastes good, and whether or not there's variety, within itself, or when compared to other things I have had before. So below are the choices I've narrowed it down to. If you want to see the full list of choices, you'll have to go back to the main site.
Appetizers
Butternut Squash Dumplings
with Pistachio Lamb Sausage, Fava Bean Purée & Shaved Asiago
Hmm… sounds interesting and with variety. I haven’t tried it yet, and it sounds pretty good for an appetizer. The winter salad sounds a lot like the EPIC salad, which was good, and is special, but I’ve tried it before so I’d like something new. As for the soup, well… it’s soup. So unless it’s special like EPIC’s chilled pea soup, I think I’ll stick with the dumplings.
Pangaea Hot Soup
Lobster bisque, with wild mushrooms and waterchestnut relish
or
Pear & Endive Salad
Roasted pear, shaved fennel, watercress, frisée, walnuts, Stilton cheese, mustard dressing
I love lobster bisque – so it’s special, and it tastes good, but I’ve had bisque before, but it’s soo good. Pear and Endive salad sounds interesting. It’s still salad, but it sounds pretty good. Quail sounds interesting too, except I’ve recently had some quail, and it was okay. The onion rings don’t tempt me too much, and the mustard-honey sauce… is that just honey-mustard? :P
Baked Lobster & Crab Soup
or
Asian Chicken Pot Stickers and Crispy Chicken & Shrimp Spring Rolls with Sweet & Hot Sauce
I love my lobster and crab. If I had the lobster bisque already though… hmm. The grilled calamari sounds good, but kinda regular. That other appetizer sounds like it has variety, but spring rolls aren’t really out of the ordinary.
Entrées
Rosemary Grilled Cornish Hen
with Pumpkin Gnocchi, Garlic Rapini & Black Truffle Aioli
or
Risotto of Sterling Salmon
with Chantrelle and Lobster Mushrooms, Tempura Asparagus & Shrimp Cream
There are a lot less people taking the risotto than I thought there were. I myself would love to try both the risotto and the gnocchi. I’ll probably take the hen, and try to split 70/30 with some risotto. However, I have risotto coming up in “Fred’s Not Here”, so maybe I’ll just wait for that one… but…
Sweetbreads
Riesling braised cabbage with smoked apple, bacon, potato rosti,
black truffle sauce
Sweetbreads at Pangaea! Don’tcha just love bread? So it’s special, and I’ve never tried it. This one, I’m taking almost for sure. If you don’t know what sweetbreads are, check the wiki. (don’t be ashamed, I didn’t know either)
Seafood Risotto – Imported Arborio Rice Cooked in Aromatic Saffron
Seafood Stock, Roma Tomatoes, with Gulf Shrimps, Scallops, Calamari & Cuban Lobster Tail
or
Grilled Lemon Thyme Flavoured Bone-In Veal Strip Steak with Grilled Gorgonzola Polenta Cake, Roma Tomato Basil Sauce
or
Our Famous “Evil Jungle Prince” Thai Red Chicken Curry with Sweet Basil, Coconut Milk, Galanger Ginger, Cilantro & Basmati Rice
or
Ontario Pork 3-Ways – Grilled Heidelberg, Ontario Stemmler’s Garlic Sausage, Grilled Chipotle Chili Rubbed BBQ Pork Ribs & Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig with Celeriac Yukon Gold Mash
Four of the six choices for Fred’s Not Here, wow. First, the risotto sounds fantastic, with shrimp and lobster tail and more. I chose to keep the veal strip steak in my choices, just for variety, although I doubt I’ll choose it. The famous thai curry is my 3rd choice, although I think thai curry is somewhat of a regular thing nowadays. I don’t care much between high-quality and mid-quality thai curry, so I’ll think about it. I can imagine Ricky taking the curry.
And the last choice… wow, it just sounds like a lot of food. And I’m a fan of chipotle! And it still sounds special, so most likely it’ll be a choice between the risotto and this. If someone wants to do a 50/50, or a 33/33/33 (curry), that’d be awesome. Haha.
Desserts
Chocolate & Orange Creme Brulée
or
Acqua’s White Chocolate Parfait
with Espresso & Crumbled Biscotti
Passionfruit Pot de Crème
Tropical fruit salad, coconut cookies
Belgian Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake
or
Fresh Fruit Ice with Strawberries
If dessert was like last time, most desserts would become 80/20 splits, which is fine. I think I’ll take 80% brulee and 20% parfait. For Pangaea again, I already made my choice with the Passionfruit Pot de Crème. There was Crème Brulee on the Fred’s Not Here menu, but I would’ve already had some at Acqua. Not enough chocolate in my desserts yet, so I’ll try the chocolate mousse cake. But maybe if I have the 3-way pork, maybe I’ll be too full and I’ll want something light, so maybe the Ice would be good.
Anyways, we start eating in about 7 hours!
