Shopping Adventures and Christmas Presenting

Okay, I don’t mean to alarm any of you, but… I have Christmas presents for some of you!

AHHHH!!! Do you know what that means? It means you have to buy one for me! …

No, not really. It’s weird, I’m buying things without expecting anything in return. I guess it’s the Christmas spirit, and it’s better to give than to receive, so I’m taking the opportunity to do so. So no, you don’t have to scramble around for a few days and find me anything.

But if you want to, go ahead. I didn’t set a price range for any of the presents – some of your presents are as low as $5, while some reach as high as $30, and it’s not like I based it on how much I like you, because I like you all equally, some more equal than others. As for what to get me… well, I’m not sure what I want either. I’m more interested in the thought, and maybe even the funniness of the present, rather than the content of the present.

For example, we were going shopping for games with Isaque, and toward the end of the day he’s the only one who hasn’t bought anything yet. So we end up at an EB, and I look at the N64 games in the glass case, and I spot a few of them for $6.99 each, so I buy one. Later at Hawk’s house I check Gamefaqs to see how well each game fared – one game got 20/30, so that’s okay – another game got 33/100, which was bad. The game I got for Isaque? It got 28/70. *shifty eyes* …

So, if you want to scramble around and buy me something, go ahead – maybe it’s another Skuujagger, maybe a Robot Jox (more on that later), or maybe you all pitch in to buy me Criminal Minds: Season 1. HEH.

(Please don’t literally buy me another Skuujagger though)

So, Sunday night, we drop off Jia, and go home. Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon, Isaque decides to go shopping, so he picks me up from work. So Isaque, Jia, myself, and Isaque’s friend Achilles’-Heel (Akhill for short) went game shopping.

Akhill might come to the party. I invited him over pictochat, although we were sitting beside each other.

So first we end up at Entertainment Liquidators, over on Dixie. There are signs everywhere for 50% off sticker price, and a lot of signs like “$10 for select games, or 3 for $25” or “3 mangas for $10”. I thought 3 mangas for $10 was okay, so I bought 3 pseudo-random ones, but it turns out they’re 3 for $5! So that’s good. I bought some mangas. Maybe we should go there again.

Blah blah blah… we drive to a bunch of other EB’s, and Blockbuster’s, and GameNow and VGPlus (got a replacement microphone for Karaoke Rev), bought a bunch of stuff, happy happy joy joy – dropped Akhill off, and then Jia and I went to Hawk’s and spent the night there.

Also, Hawk has been buying anime and whatever else online at dirt cheap prices, and with them he bought a movie called Robot Jox. Best movie ever. And by best, I mean worst. And by that, I mean it’s so freaking hilarious and cheesy, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s so bad it’s funny.

I’m not sure if I should talk more about it, but it’s unlikely that you guys would watch it, and it’s unlikely that it’ll be as funny as Hawk, Jia, and I found it. First of all, watching the movie with me and Jia is awesome. I’m here to look out for cliché’s, and complain whenever any good guy or bad guy does something stupid or cliché. Jia’s there to be a jerk and complain about the movie being craptacular, and it’s Hawk's movie, and he likes mechs, so he adds to the effect.

First, it’s such a funny movie, because it’s so old, and the technology is so outdated and low-budget. People with their accent, cast members nobody knows, cheesy one liners “I kill you dead!” and… hahaha, it’s so funny. Jia, Hawk and I have some inside jokes now. The badly done robots are funny too, with their special attacks and how slow they move. Plot and whatever else is pretty funny too.

But the best part was at the end. This will spoil something, but you guys will almost never watch it so no big lost. At the end, both the bad guy and the good guy are out of their mechs, and the bad guy has a rock in his hand. And the good guy says some encouraging words like “we can live”, and then he sticks his hand out and gives the bad guy a thumbs up.

And me, I’m like “nooo… if the bad guy gives a thumbs up too, OH MY GOD, that’d be so cliché… please don’t do it, dooon’t dooo ittt!!” And then you see a close up of the good guy’s hand, and then the bad guy’s hand comes in and gives the good guy a thumbs up! And I’m like “NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” and we’re all laughing and crying about it… but then – the ending credits come!

And we’re laughing like crazzy!!!! Haven’t laughed like this for a long time (except once, on Saturday I think) – it was SO friggin funny. Just thumbs up, and then ending credits – no followup story, no nothing, just that. Funniest moment. You had to be there.

Now that I spoiled it, or before I even spoiled it, it would be hard to recreate that moment. Other than maybe Ambrose, I’m not sure how loud and amazing it could be to watch that movie. Alan would just be like “what the” the whole time, instead of Bao and Jia always yelling at the TV.

Oh well. That was fun. I highly recommend it, and then if Jia and Hawk and I keep making inside jokes, you can finally watch this movie and find out what they mean.

And last but not least, here are 4 songs. I call these the Desert Series – 4 of the 60 songs I’ve chosen which sound like they could be from deserts or yellow pyramids or something. Nothing else special about it – not supposedly hard nor easy, except that I don’t know these songs.

Desert Series - 211 | 106 | 138 | 135 |
