Happy New Year and some other things
It’s almost midnight now, so Happy New Year! Goodbye 2006, Hello 2007! Anyway, like with the Christmas post, back to blogging now =)
First things first… well, I’m back from Montreal. Overall, it was a fun trip with average and good food, and some pretty fun days. Secondly, tomorrow is new years, so we’ll be doing stuff with family in the morning, but in the afternoon we’re free to hang out with friends and whatnot. The Waterlooer’s and other universitiers are starting classes again on the 3rd, so the 1st is pretty much their last day to hang out in ‘ssauga, right?
Anyway, this blog post is far from complete (or is it??), so I’ll divide this entry into the sections below, and post more about them over time, or over several posts. Maybe if you guys comment, maybe I’ll update on various things before others.
But for now, that’s it. Happy New Year, and I hope to see some of you guys tomorrow! Good night! (I’m not sleeping just yet, but… whatever)

Monkey Balls and Raving Rabbits
Rabbits
For Ambrose's Christmas present, we bought him Rayman: Raving Rabbids, but so far he kinda let us borrow it, and I've fallen in love with it. I'll have to agree with Scott from http://www.vgcats.com/ : The art style is great, and the bunnies are the best villains ever.
For those who've seen the game at our place, some of you think it's an okay game, and you think the rabbits are really scary or freaky, and you don't like them. For those who haven't seen it, the rabbits look pretty evil and pretty stupid. Maybe they're retarded, which doesn't really make you feel worse for them though. But wow, as the game goes on, you start loving the bunnies - well, I did.
See, the story is you and your friends have been captured by the evil bunnies, and you must do minigames to get out of jail. So the minigames are in a coliseum-like-thing, with thousands of bunnies watching you. At first, the bunnies sorta stare at you, and whenever you finish a minigame, they just look at each other oddly, and some of them clap but are very unsure. After you finish a day's worth of games, the big guard grabs you and throws you back into your room. When you are ready for the next day's game, you knock on the door, and the guard grabs you and brings you back to the coliseum.
But then, toward the middle of the game, the guard no longer grabs you, but instead lets you walk between your room and the coliseum, and the rabbits in the coliseum start applauding louder. At the end of the game, the rabbits are going crazy, and they have signs that say "WE LOVE RAYMAN"... and there are bunnies with presents outside your room, and they play Beethoven's 9th on their trumpets whenever you get ready for another minigame, and they have a red carpet waiting for you.
Wow, these bunnies love me. Especially the one watching my cell all the time. At first I thought he was waving, but then I notice he's just retardedly tapping on the glass. I love that bunny.
In most minigames, you might be hurting the bunnies, or helping them out in weird ways, or they might be your enemies, but always in the 4th game, it's the drumming game, and that's when you dance with the bunnies, and it's so happy feeling. So wow... it's amazing. I encourage someone to play through the single player game, and watch as the bunnies change and start loving you. I really like the bunnies.
Anyway, that's about the bunnies - now about the game. The single player campaign doesn't take too long, but you can play it in chunks, several chunks a day, and it's a fun journey. Again, like I said, the specifics are cool, how the bunnies warm up to you. The minigames are unique and exciting and different, and this is the type of game that you get for your wii when it first comes out. Some of the minigames might end up becoming full games on their own! That'd be cool.
After you complete the main game, i think there's the challenge mode... so far, it's weird, finding multiplayer games though, so I'd have to give that part a low score. It's supposedly a game of minigames, which implies multiplayer, and I think there are some multiplayer games, they're just harder to find, or maybe I haven't unlocked enough stuff. Overall though, this game is awesome in single player, and hopefully soon I can unlock more multiplayer content. Nowadays, when people come over, i start off by showing them some of the cooler single player games, and then they have fun with that.
Monkeys
Another game that boasts a collection of minigames is Monkey Ball. In the other games, the main game was the main attraction, and the minigames took a backseat but were still fun. This time around, instead of 6 or 12 minigames, there are 50, and unlike Raving Rabbids, the minigames are easy to find, and you know which ones can be played with 1, 2, 3, or 4 players. This is also one of those games you buy when you first get your wii. I thought I wouldn't get this much flexibility until I got warioware, but no, Monkey Ball also has so much stuff you can do with the wiimote.
As for the main game, it's harder now, both because of the controls, and also because the levels are harder. That's not a bad thing... well, we are done about 5/8ths of the main game, so I would hope it gets hard by now. The controls are pretty good, and pretty intuitive I suppose. So far, the Wii is looking to be a very fine system.
So with the wiimote+nunchuk, we can do boxing, we can play tennis and other swinging things, like golf clubs, baseball bats, swords... we can drive cars, play the tuba... play whack a mole, aim guns/arrows/etc, listen to the wiimote for quiet sounds... do simple 'point and click' operations, take shards of glass out of a guy's heart... go fishing, tilt mazes, draw over lines, play the drums...ooh, and in monkey ball, one minigame, you can control your machine like in Virtua-On! You have your two joysticks, and you can put one forward and one backwards to turn, tilt them sideways to dash sideways, even pull them apart to jump! It's so cool!
So what's next with the wii? Well, from the commercials... we have to conduct music, do some dentistry, and hula hoop...
