Random Weekend Project #1
I missed a blogging day! If I blog, usually it’s a Friday or Saturday, and last week they were both sorta busy. So I didn’t blog, heh. So, I’ll briefly mention some things… not sure what order…
After 345 days, Ray finally updates his blog… twice! And for this update, I think I’ll skip the 3 videogame song clips, but they’ll be there next update, I promise.
AHHH, the new weird al song is so in my head. I guess that means I like it. And I’m listening to it right now. I heard the original song too, it’s not as good, of course. Most of Youtube seems to agree that this song’s better. Then again, 90% of the internet is white and nerdy… :P On a related note, I have about 4 songs in my current playlist – this one, the soundtrack for Noah – every day for 6 years (a youtube video) – Kazahkstan’s national anthem from the Borat movie, and… another.
Ahh, what the heck. I’ll post two songs.
Borat – National Anthem
Noah – Everyday (~6 minute piano piece)
Kazakhstan! Kazakhstan! You very nice place!
So anyway, let’s go back to last weekend. Last weekend, Borat was released, and blah blah blah, we wanted to see it. We went on Friday, but it was super sold out, so then instead we went home and played some xbox. We went on Saturday instead. Too bad Ricky was busy, or something, so he couldn’t come – it’s too bad, cuz he would’ve really liked it. I think. Yeah, I think he would’ve really liked it.
I liked it. I think Ambrose and Ray liked it the most, and then I liked it, and Alan and Duy kinda liked it too. It wasn’t as offensive as I thought it would be – but it’s still offensive. As my friend puts it, “It’s a very offensive movie, but I wasn’t offended.” Heh. I guess that’s true for me too.
On the horizon, Ricky wants to see Death of a President, but Ray doesn’t. Also, James Bond is coming out this Friday. At first I didn’t care too much, but whatever – suure, why not? Heh.
So that was last weekend. This weekend was one of those vegging weekends. Alan and the others had a draft in Waterloo, and I tried to get to Waterloo but just couldn’t, so I just stayed home all weekend. Ambrose was pretty busy, and then there was no other reason to get together. I took two 1-hour naps on Saturday, and played a bit of Magic with Vinh. Couldn’t get to the card store so we couldn’t draft… well, actually we did, using some older packs.
Also, on Friday I decided to start something… I wanted to make something in Flash. I have a bunch of secondary games, one primary game, and one primary animation. So, I decided to start an animation. Being pretty free this weekend, I decided I would start something on Friday and end it on Sunday. And that I did.
Random Weekend Project #1
So, I made a random animation. It’s about two minutes long. I hope you get as confused watching it as I was making it. But I do hope some of you, like Wen and David, enjoy it!

Ooh, new shipment!
Remember those choose your own adventure books, where you use pencil and paper and dice to fight monsters? I bought some of those books again. I got a boxset of the first 4 books, and I got book#25, something about Samurais – I think published in 2006, so they’re still making them. I’ve been so busy so I haven’t started yet, but I read some of the rules, which are unique to each book. In this book, you start with 3 honour points – certain things you do increase or decrease your honour. At anytime your honour drops to 0 points, you have to turn to page 99 no matter what. I cheated, I checked. Turns out you find out you lived a meaningless life, and you must now commit Seppuku and take your own life. At least in this end, you have acted in the way of the Samurai.
I also ordered some old Sierra collections, like Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry. That should be fun… once they’re out of my backlog. Also, Jia’s order came in today too. Who wants to have a Survivorman marathon?
Work and Living
Work is still okay. I realize there are two different types of job, one which I’m bad at, and one which I’m good at. I’m good at creating my own things. If someone wants me to create something from scratch, I can probably do it okay. However, I’m really bad at taking some existing work and editing it.
And I’m doing a lot of that recently. It’s really annoying working on those projects. I dread working on those projects. Projects that I don’t make are hard to edit for me, and I’ve been told I work really slowly on these things. Darn…. I sure hope I can start making a lot more of my own stuff…
As for living, I’m still here (duh), but my sis and are looking around. Kevin lives in an apartment, which is connected to the mall, which is a 4-minute walk to work, which is awesome. Without leaving the building, I could go to Silvercity, Dominion, Toys R Us, Indigo, Pickle Barrel, the food court, the subway, etc etc… it’s pretty cool.
He lives in a 1-bedroom with his GF for $1020 – meanwhile the 2-bedroom goes for around $1750. Ouch. I don’t think I’ll go for that. Oh yeah, the way it will be is that my parents will pay for my sis because she’s studying (like the way they paid for us while in Waterloo), but I’ll have to pay my own rent. That’s like $900, or twice what Duy is paying. Heh. So… yeah, that’s quite steep. Maybe we can find a two-bedroom for $1400 a bit farther away… still a lot, but what can ya do.
As for food at work, I’m still going out to lunch every day, but we’ve found cheaper food so that’s good. Sandwich for $2, gourmet pizza for $4, or a real meal with soup for $5 is pretty good. Haven’t tried the BK Stacker yet, don’t think I will, but I tried the Flamethrower and Chili burger at Dairy Queen. They’re not bad, not bad at all, heh. Boy I miss DQ burgers.
