Zelda Demo - Version 2 - it's out now

My new Zelda demo is ready! It’s not perfect (hence, work in progress) but I sure hope you try it out, enjoy it, and bring back some constructive criticisms and suggestions!

Anyway, for some reason, I’d like to emphasize this – ledges. There are walls, and there are ledges – like in Zelda games, if you hold a direction against a ledge (like a cliffside), then you will eventually push through and fall down. You can see, the ground might be yellow where you can push through ledges.

The game’s not perfect yet, as there are still enemies that can push you through walls, which ultimately, sometimes gets you stuck. In the last room of the demo there are some such enemies, but I tried to make it so that if you push through the walls, you can get through. Unfortunately, this is only true for the last room of enemies.

What are the improvements over the last game? Well…

- more levels, enemies, etc – last time, the demo was about 5 minutes long – this time, it’s about 20 minutes. Last time, the demo consisted of about 20 screens, this time you have a bigger world to explore, including two towns and two dungeons, so you have more than 120 screens, if you were to visit everything.
- There are towns! You can talk to people, buy things, get a bit of information..
- Last time, David complained that he couldn’t get the sword, probably because he was so impatient and kept pressing space so he kept getting the sword over and over again. So… that’s fixed now.
- There’s 1 piece of music and 3 pieces of sound effect in the game, which I just added now. There's not a lot of other music, so feel free to listen to some adventerous, zelda-ish music while playing.
- There's a cheat code, which is different than the cheat code in the first zelda demo.
- Umm… etc.

That’s about it. There’s a lot of walking in this demo, but it just turned out that way. Well, it’s not that much walking, it just feels like you’re going from one end of the world to the other… heh. Anyway, so far Duy tried the demo, he died a few times and couldn’t beat it, but now I changed it a bit since a few hours ago, and it’s a bit easier but it’s still not a walk in the park.

The last part of the demo is probably kinda hard, and kinda misleading, but I don’t want to spoil anything for now, so I’ll mention it in the next update, or if a lot of people complain about how the ending is hard.

Anyway, this time I’m keeping it as a single EXE file, rather than the html version too. It’s 1.3mb.

ENJOY!
