Six Blogs at Once, and ASP

Just a short update – taking a break from playing Elder Scrolls, downloading the Tomb Raider Legends demo (actually looks good this time!), and then probably sleep… anyway, today my mom suggested I should learn ASP. Well, first she asked me to research on it, see if I can use it or if it can become one of my marketable skills or if I can use it in the future and stuff, etc… so I browse on the web, and then I see some examples and try to change them for my own benefits.

So… how can I make myself more lazy? Well, I already have the 4-blogs-at-once page, which I barely click on, for good reasons too. Anyway, so now I have a page that I can use for both types of people – people who blog about once a week, and people who blog much less than that. Also, it saves scrolling and whatever.

http://www.baomon.com/comments-3.asp

The page takes about 15-30 seconds to load, so you’ll have to be patient. If it looks like it freezes, well, it probably hasn’t. So what does it do?

Without getting technical, it tells you how many comments the most recent blog entry has! (some exceptions apply) So, for those that don’t update a lot, you can see how many comments they have. For example, if you can remember that Alan’s most recent blog entry is at 6 comments and Jia’s is at 4, then you can visit this page and it will tell you that they haven’t updated.

For those that do update a lot, sometimes you just want to go to their blog, scroll down, and see whether or not they have new comments. Well, now it does it right away! You don’t need to click around and scroll around anymore. You just load this page, and that’s that.

Anyway, that was my little adventure in ASP today, heehee. I’ll continue updating this asp script tomorrow, make it better, or more functional, or whatever. Anyway, I’m glad I can make some ASP script that works for my benefit.

Anyway, time to check if Tomb Raider is done. See ya.
