9 Goals in 5 Years
Okay, the long weekend’s over, and now today it was back to work. Cousins came from Montreal, we went to visit the guys in Waterloo, came back to ‘Sauga, had a magic draft, hid easter eggs, fun fun fun fun.
But that update (if there ever is one) will have to wait. From the comments of my last blog update, people seemed interested to hear my long term goals. So I’m going to write a bit about… let’s say, goals in a 5-year period.
Long term goals are harder to write about than short term goals – first, most of the short term goals are just for fun; watch this, play this, get this random something – all for fun.
Long term goals are usually more serious in nature, and they also expose more flaws. In other words, long term goals are more personal, and in talking about long term goals, I would really get into some personal details that I don’t usually go into…
Actually… it’s not that bad, is it? Nope. Nice and easy – instead of me waiting at the edge, wondering if the water’s cold, let’s just have someone push me in – so in no particular order, the first two goals are:
1) Get a Girlfriend
2) Have Sex
Okay! So now that’s out in the open, the rest of the post should be pretty easy. I don’t think it should be a major surprise, and perhaps your list would also have these two things (unless you’re Ching or Christa). I want a girlfriend, and I want to have sex. There, I said it.
So this is a goal of the 5-year period, but I wouldn’t mind having it done in the 1-year period. I guess… it’s just that our group doesn’t openly talk about this sort of thing, that I find it’s awkward writing about it. Anyway, so those are two goals in their most basic forms; I haven’t gone into the specifics yet, but most of them are pretty general (sort of an oxymoron, eh?) As in, if I accomplish #1, it should be for a long time, and preferably #2 is related with #1, but who knows.
3) Get Fit
Not so fit now. Overweight, big belly, etc… so here are those flaws that I’m talking about now.
4) Stat up – leadership skills, public speaking, confidence, etc.
5) Socialize more
I just stuck in goal 5 to make a point.
See, #5 helps in goal #1 and #2.
#3 helps #4 and #1.
#4 helps #1 and #5.
#1… well, helps #2.
In other words, #3 leads to #4, which leads to #5, which leads to #1 which leads to #2. So one of my first priorities is #3, Get Fit. I think getting fit will increase confidence, which would both increase socializing and thus getting the courage to talk to a girl =)
6) Trip with Friends, or at least without parents
7) Own a car
Goals 6 and 7 aren’t really goals, just something I’d see myself doing. We’ve already talked about #6, so I want that to happen… and #7 should happen – it’s like part of the life cycle or something.
8) Career something?
#8 is a bit hard to define… but in general, I don’t see myself working at my dad’s company forever and ever. So maybe #8 means I find a job elsewhere and make a decent amount doing something fun, with videogames or anime or graphics – or maybe it means I’ll have my own company and making lots, lots of money. It’s a very open ended goal, and I’m not even sure when it will be realized.
9) Stay alive and be healthy
This is a pretty generic goal, but it’s like a backup goal – in case none of the other goals happen, I hope to still have my health. I don’t want to be addicted to smoking or drugs – I’m not sure if that means I’ll never try it, but I don’t want to become like those people.
So, those are some pretty general goals I hope to have accomplished in 5 years. If anyone wants to help me on some goals, that’d be great (especially #1 and #2!)!
And 10-15 year goals? Well, I’m not sure about that, but perhaps they’ll be generic like some popular answers to a family feud question. Not sure what the question is, but the answer will include good house, good car, good health, good job, good family, and possibly good marriage.
