One Quarter Century down, three more to go! ..?

I'm old. I turned old on Sunday. ahhh!!...

Anyway, just for fun, going more in depth in the two marathon type parties:

11) Have a Firefly party (4eps +)

That sounds like fun. But what exactly is a Firefly party, and who is it intended for? Okay, as Kyle suggested, it can be a Firefly + Serenity party, so that extends it a bit. Anyway, there are 3 types of people:
a) People who have not seen Firefly at all
b) People who’ve seen 1-3 eps of it
c) People who’ve seen all of it.
Okay, of course, there are some people who’ve seen 4-13 eps of it, but you get the point… anyway, those are the main categories I know of. Then there’s the subgroup of people that have or haven’t seen Serenity, but that’s a small point.

People in group B are like Alan and Duy, and probably a few other people. There’s a few people in group A, I think like Jason and David. And then, there’s a whole bunch of us in group C that really like Firefly. So the point of the firefly party is to get all the people into group B or C; that is, watch a lot of Firefly, and really really like it. Heh.

Would it still be a good party if only people from group C show up? Ehhh… that’s interesting, but I think it would make it totally more interesting if people from all levels showed up. When is the party? I have no idea, but I’m guessing it’s on a Saturday, AND/OR a Sunday. If we were to watch 14 episodes + Serenity, it will probably take 13 hours + breaks.

So if it was just Saturday, what will we watch, and what will we do? Will we do a marathon run, or a best-of or selection run? In other words, will we watch 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or, according to Bao’s choices, something like… 6, 7… 10… 14… then we need 2… and for variety, stick in 8… so 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 14. (That’s Train Job, Our Mrs. Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of Gas, War Stories, and Objects in space).

And what else? Are we going to be like nerds and have discussion meetings after every episode? Watch select commentaries? :P Well, I guess if we have enough of groups A and B then we won’t need to, but if we just have group C, then it’s half pointless to have a Firefly party to see things we’ve already seen.

Anyways, any comments? Sounds good? Any date I should have it on?

12) Have a CSI party, probably when Jason gets back

Okay… and what’s a CSI party and who is it intended for? Well, duh, it’s just like the firefly party! We all get together and watch 216 episodes in a row! …

Okay, the CSI party is probably for people in group B, but instead of 1-3 eps it’s more like they’ve seen 10-30 eps, so they’re well familiar with the show. There are people that like CSI but haven’t seen it in a while, or maybe they want to join the party and watch some more. Alan doesn’t get TV nowadays, Jason’s been in Japan the last year, Wen watches it occasionally, Ambrose watches it once a week, Kyle dislikes it… okay, so the party’s not for Kyle, but it’s for the others. So in short, it’s for people who like CSI but don’t have the time or ability to watch it three times a week.

I think my favourite moment last year of
26) Get someone else addicted to something
Was when Jason sat down and watched a current episode of CSI Miami for 5 minutes and then was hooked.
Anyway, unfortunately, the current seasons of CSIs have some really good episodes, but of course, they’re not on DVD yet, so we’re stuck watching somewhat older episodes. I’m sure we’ll find something.

Additionally, when the Criminal Minds season 1 boxset comes out, I want to have a party with that. Nobody else watches that show, right? So everyone will be in group A!

13) Watch at least 15% of the anime that I own (on dvd or computer) that I haven't seen yet.

Maybe we can make a party out of this too.

1) Get David to watch an episode of Gankutsuou

This won’t make a good party… or will it? I, would actually love a party of this. And by a party, I mean a 2-day marathon, with 24 episodes of Gankutsuou, and we’ll rent the movie “The Count of Monte Cristo” (with Guy Pearce and Jim Cavaziel?) because it ties in with the show. Maybe I can have a party like this by myself. But I still have to get David to watch an episode, when he’s not tired, so he can fully take in all the … moving textures.

26) Get someone else addicted to something

I hope this will happen with either David+Gankutsuou or someone+Firefly. Maybe David? Maybe Jason.

17) Try the pizza hut cheesy bites pizza or die trying

We’ll combo this into one of the events above.

23) Watch a movie the night it opens, or buy a hot-ticket item the day of (or pre-order, and show up the day of)

X-3, M:I 3, or Davinci Code. I say X-3. Who’s up for that?
