Impulse Buy and Impulse Join

I just made an impulse buy not half an hour ago. Then I made an impulse decision (non-life changing though). And now I’m making an impulse blog post.

Nobody reads the other blog, so I’ll just post it here. Short update better than no update, right? So I was just checking my e-mail and I get something from Command and Conquer, the game. Apparently I signed up with them years ago, and about once every… 9 months they send me an e-mail. The e-mail says they have a new product, a C&C compilation thing with 12 games on a DVD, ranging from C&C, including Covert Ops, to Red Alert, Red Alert 2, etc. up to Generals: Zero Hour.

So I click on the link, then without a thought I logged onto Futureshop and pre-ordered it (it’s supposed to come out today). Yeah, I have a lot of the C&C games lying around, but I like this DVD edition with everything in one place. Who knows, maybe we can all buy some copies and relive these moments. And then Red Alert will run on our PCs without having to go back to Windows 95 compatibility mode.

Also, I remember reading in the flyer this morning, and yesterday, and around boxing day, about that 2.2 GB USB drive thing for $69.99 after instant rebates (no mail-in rebates). So I was about to buy it when I read some customer reviews that said it… wasn’t so good, so I looked for an alternative and saw a 1GB for $49.99 with much better reviews, and, without a second thought, I bought that one.

Then I went to another e-mail, about the beta-sign-up for RF online, another MMORPG. It’s from Codemasters, and they send me e-mails sometimes, and it looks pretty cool – futuristic, mechs, weapons, etc. I saw some trailers and stuff, and some screenshots, and they look okay.

But then I thought about… well, I don’t play MMOs. I play a bit of Guild Wars, but I wouldn’t say I enjoy it as much as… a lot of other games. So I looked at it, and I said to myself – “I don’t care. I don’t want to every play another MMO again (besides Guild Wars).”

But then… I’m not sure. I think my mind thought of Jia, and he said something like “come on bao, join me in some other game, like RO” – so for some reason, I just clicked, and signed up for the beta. Okay, so this decision didn’t cost me anything, except maybe time later or whatever…

Anyway, that’s it. I’ll probably update again Friday morning or so.
