Ruthless Hands, Gentle Heart, and the Final Atonement
Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal
When I looked at Isaque and Hawk’s order from ADV, I piggybacked two additional items onto their order, because both Isaque and Hawk bought them: Samurai X Trust and Betrayal, and Samurai X Reflection. I just finished watching Samurai X, Trust and Betrayal, and it was pretty damn good.
I’ve seen some Rurouni Kenshin, not a lot, and I hear it’s famous and good but I didn’t see much of the appeal. The movie was totally different though. For you guys:
David: The movie was beautiful.
Ricky: The movie was really violent.
Alan: The champions of Kamigawa expansion symbol appears in the movie.
Okay, the animation is smooth and good, it is pretty violent, and yeah, it’s a beautiful movie with some very artsy and peaceful tranquil thought moments. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I’ll give it a score close to 10/10.
That Kenshin guy’s pretty crazy near the end. I was sure he was going to die.
… well, this movie is a prequel to the series, so I wasn’t THAAAT sure he was going to die… but it looked like it.
Samurai X: Reflection
Kenshin has nice fingernails. Uhh, I mean…
I just finished watching Samurai X – Reflection, supposedly the epilogue to the entire series. Kenshin reflects on his past and what he has done in the series. Not having seen much of the series, I didn’t really know the characters. I remember I did watch an episode with the guy with the big sword, and I remember the intro with the little guy and the girl and stuff, so I sorta recognize the characters, but not really.
David: The movie was beautiful.
Alan: Somewhere there was a subtitle with the word “Myojin”.
This one wasn’t really violent, save a few parts. Kenshin’s not a bloody murderer anymore, with his reverse-bladed sword and all. Anyway, it was a pretty good movie, the ~75 minutes it lasted. Although I remember not liking the series all that much, I now have the urge to watch at least a bit of it, now that I know how it begins and how it ends. I would give this one an 8/10.
CSI
In other news, yesterday’s CSI Miami episode was among one of the best. Lieutenant Mac Taylor (from CSI NY) was in this episode, and at the end it said “To be Continued – Wednesday, on CSI NY, 10:00 pm”. Sweet – the storyline crossed over into another CSI series.
I think I’ll buy some CSI DVD boxsets for Christmas, for myself and my sis. They’re about $50 right now, instead of $64 or higher.
