Magic Happenings and Anime Happenings

Happenings and Events

So… what’s happening lately?

Magic related

Okay, so Alan is busy on the Saturday, so the earliest good time for the fake draft will be Monday, the 22nd. Sunday (starting mid afternoon) is Kyle’s party, so we can’t do it then. Tuesday the 23rd should be relatively fine too. That’s another date, because Monday can still have remnants of Kyle’s party. Like, maybe people will sleep over, or if some people sleep over we can consider coming back on Monday just to hang out with them more. It’s not every day I see Christa and Ching…

As for the 9th edition draft, we had that yesterday. On that note, we also got in trouble yesterday with the folks, but that’s another story. I probably won’t be on msn for a day or two though :P

Anime related

OKAY! So… The weekend after that… what’s up? Everytime it gets closer to an anime-convention date, I have second thoughts about going. Logically or practically, why am I going?

See friends? I can do that in real life at other times.
Take pictures? What a crappy reason if that’s the only reason. Besides, other people will have pictures.
Buy Anime? Really, what for?
See new Anime? I can do that myself.

Experience? Well, that’s the biggie. Weighing that with the price, the hassle of transportation/walking/parking/etc, it really gets kinda fuzzy and the decision can go either way. I’ve been to the cons twice (AN 2002? CN 2003?), and both times the events were pretty meh, and a lot of time was spent in the dealer’s room. I don’t really need to buy more anime at the moment, and as for figurines, I got my fill in Japan for that. NOT everything, but if I didn’t Find it there, why would I find it here?

Okay, so that brings me to my next point. I want to have a big anime party!

Actually, let’s not make it a big party, just a small gathering, and not an actual anime-a-thon. That is, a few friends come over, and instead of a full fledged anime-a-thon involving 7 hours of anime or 14 hours spread over 2 days, we’ll just set aside 2 or 2 and a half hours for some good anime. That’ll be plenty for now. I think we’ll go through some of Full Metal Panic 2nd raid (relatively new, nobody here except me has seen it), and we’ll watch some special short, 5 minute anime’s and stuff. Those ones are always somewhat spiffy. I’m sure Hawk would agree Superflat Monogram’s worth watching… I found it pretty neat.

Plus, we’ll probably crowd around a computer monitor this time.

And I hope this isn’t a deterrent, but I think we should give Gankutsuou a try again. It’s really a beautiful story of friendship and betrayal. One episode will make you cry.

Anyway, my punishment for yesterday’s mishap starts soon, so I can’t really write more at the moment. See ya later.
