Dance au France, and *edit - au Asia
****EDIT - august 3rd, 2:05 AM**** - see bottom
Hello. Long time no see.
I was actually planning to write this update on Friday, but I didn’t get around to doing it / didn’t have the time.
Anyway, this weekend I went to Montreal with family, instead of going to the Vietnamese camp. At first I was really looking forward to the Vietnamese camp, looking forward to meeting some friends from McMaster which I haven’t seen in quite a while. However, then those two (two sisters) had to go to a wedding, and couldn’t make it.
So, I could’ve gone to Song Viet; would’ve been a bit awkward, not knowing too many people, so we decided it was best to go with the family to Montreal, and that we did.
Apparently my cousins didn’t have their Gamecube anymore… pissed off their parents, cube met hammer, that old story. So, we spent most of the weekend playing Magic. We must’ve played like twenty 5-player games, it was crazy. I brought 12 different decks with me, so I wouldn’t get bored.
Saturday night, Duy and I went out to meet some of Duy’s Internet friends, whom we met once before. All we did that evening was playing Smash, and listening to videogame music while eating St. Hubert’s chicken. Anyway, so we won in Smash a lot, as expected.
“But the wall refused to change…”
So, that finishes up Montreal. Played more magic, ate food, bought cards, etc, went home. Trip home wasn’t so great, parents make me angry as usual, and I in turn make them angry, that old chestnut.
In other news… well… my mom was insisting us on… well, long story short, we are now taking Dance lessons. More specifically, ball room dancing lessons, like the fox trot, waltz, tango, swing, and meringue. At first I thought it would be stupid and boring, but it’s not so bad. Our dance instructor, Renalda, is pretty good, and pretty pretty ;) She’d be like what you want your girlfriend to be, only older.
So yes, we’re taking dancing lessons. At best, I’ll find a pretty girl during the group lessons, and then we can go dancing together and become a couple. At worst, it’s just something to get us out of the house.
-=-=-=-=-
I downloaded the Initial D Live action movie, but unfortunately… it doesn’t have English subtitles. It has, what I think are Spanish subtitles, but I’ll still watch it, probably tonight.
Jia was over last time for 224 hours. This time he was here for 202 hours, and then Ambrose brought him home. I was surprised when I came home yesterday that Jia wasn’t at our house… At the company bbq a few weeks ago, Jia and us invented a new type of poker, called Draft Poker.
As for games, we haven’t played them much lately. Duy is still playing Disgaea, but we haven’t played Starcraft nor Guildwars in a while, nor have I touched my xbox lately either. Still about 40% through Forza.
And it’s weird. Alan and Duy bought Paper Mario, but I’m the only one who’s finished it; Duy bought me Metroid Prime Echoes, but I’ve played it for two hours while Duy’s finished it; and Duy got us all into Guild Wars, and then he abandoned it quickly while the rest of us joined because he wanted to play.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
And now the usual stuff… next weekend is the 9th edition Magic draft, and sometime this week people are getting together to discuss our fake draft. I propose fake draft to occur on Saturday the 20th. Kyle’s party is on the 21st, that should be fun. CN Anime is on the last weekend in August, and I haven’t been to a con for a while so I’m thinking of going.
Wen wants to get together for a Firefly marathon, or at the least, to watch the first episode of Firefly. And Ricky wants to have a d20 campaign, in a space-western, Firefly sort of setting. I think Ricky wants Wen to be there for that too, so I’m not sure when that will happen. So, this weekend is busy, the 20th weekend seems busy, the CN anime weekend seems busy, so that leaves the 13th-14th weekend quite open, for now.
And… that makes for a good update.
*** And now for the edit! Okay, after looking at Jason's blog, I suddenly had the urge to outdo him, bwahahaha... well, that, and I feel responsible for my webpage, so blah blah blah, I've uploaded most of the pictures I plan to upload for my entire asia trip, and written a little bit about each picture. http://www.baomon.com/asia/index.html - ENJOY! ***
