Jia, Japan, Anime, and Velveteen

Hello Internet! I haven’t blogged for 11 days, and seems like I haven’t missed all too much on other people’s blogs. Anyways, I couldn’t get online because my computer was down.

Long story short, there was a power outage here in ‘sauga Friday night, for about 3 minutes. Pitch black, everything, we started resorting to our GBA SPs for light. We thought Ganondorf used divine intervention after he died to stop us from winning. So of course, my computer turns off.

The next day, I turn it on, and everything was going pretty slow, which wasn’t unusual after an unexpected shutdown for my computer. So I rebooted, and then windows wouldn’t start up; unmountable boot volume error or something. So I couldn’t get into windows, nor DOS, and my computer couldn’t find my hard drive and stuff on it. It was really scary, thinking I could lose so much stuff. But after a few days, my dad tried some stuff around and fixed it, so it’s all good now. I should back some stuff up just in case though.

Downloads

Haven’t had downloads on my blog for a while, other than my party video which got rave reviews. So, the song of the week is: VELVETEEN

http://www.baomon.com/board/gits-velveteen.mp3 (5min, 5mb)

Amy put up some music from Ghost in the Shell, so I downloaded some. So from those, I chose this one. It’s easy to listen to, moodful, a bit weird in the middle, and overall I just like it. Give it a listen. And my next download is: DEATH NOTE

http://www.baomon.com/board/death_note_-_001.zip (6.3 mb, 47 pages)

This is the first volume of the manga, death-note. As the other download, Amy recommended it to me, as she’s addicted to it. I like it. I can put up future volumes too, they’re about half as big as the first volume. When you read it, it’s right to left, up to down. With a name like ‘death note’, it’s a bit… death-related, but nothing graphic or anything. Amy says she likes it because the whole story is carried by the plot, which is true… there’s always something happening, some decision to make. Give it a go, tell me if you want to see more.

Japan Trumps Anime North

Every May I ask myself whether or not to go to Anime North, and this year I decided I wanted to go. Haven’t been there for a few years, so I miss it; Eric will be there, Amy will be there, and Ching will be there, whom I haven’t seen in a while. All of them will be in costume, so that’d be cool. I could use some more stuff from the dealer’s room, and I want to partake in some activities.

Unfortunately… well, my family is planning a trip to Asia. Well, my dad has business to conduct in Singapore, and we have this “Asia pass”, that lets us visit a few countries in Asia. So… well, we’re going to Asia! My dad, my mom, Duy, and myself, visiting several places there, and this occurs while Anime North is running, so I can’t go to both at the same time.

So I’ll be in Singapore for 4 days, Japan (Tokyo) for 4 days, and a bit of Hong Kong, and we’ll make a little stop in Vietnam. It’ll be fun.

So, I really wanted to go to Anime North, but I can’t. I’m really happy, sure, but I wish I could go to both events. But of course, Japan trumps Anime North, so I’ll be in Japan. We’ll be there from May 26-June 8 I think. I told Amy and now I told her that I’ll get her some of those block sandals, if I find them. I’ll be buying a lot of souvenirs myself, so if some people want some easy-to-find things, maybe I’ll get some for you :)

Past Week

So… what happened since the last time I blogged? Well, for one thing we all got grounded, for the first time ever. Something finally ticked my mom off on Mother’s day, so we got grounded, but eventually that wore off. During that time I managed to read some science book and now I can almost answer some questions on ‘who wants to be a millionaire’.

On Tuesday we were to invite friends over, but we couldn’t get anyone. So I went to Futureshop, bought Forza Motorsport (because I got addicted to it) and Donkey Konga 2. That means we have 3 bongos now. Wednesday David wanted to come over, but we couldn’t have him. Thursday, Jia and Hawk (and Ihsan) came over and we went to Loblaws to shop for videogames, but we got food instead. As usual, Jia slept over.

On Friday, Jason came over, but we couldn’t reach anyone else again. Jia was still here. So Jia sleeps over again. Saturday, Jia stays over again, and Sunday morning Duy drives him home. That… pretty much describes the week. Oh, and today Vinh-Khang made his first Magic deck :)

Star Wars

… anyone wanna go see Star Wars? Comes out Thursday, so we should watch it sometime between then and when I have to go to Asia. On another note, who wants to go to CN Anime in Late August? :)

Life

On her birthday, Ching posted a reflection on life and a little plan about the future. Today, my dad asked me about that, and hinted that I should start putting something in motion, or that I have to change my ways or get better. I don’t like to agree with my dad, but I guess it’s true… I don’t really have a solid plan for the future. ‘Rich and Famous’, sounds nice, but realistically it’s a bit… dreamlike. So… I’d like to say, “we’ll see”; it sounds so nice. “We’ll see” gives me time to let it flow, see what happens… which isn’t what I should be doing, so… I’ll probably have to change something somehow……..

Wrap Up

So, that’s it for now. I’ll update again before I leave for Asia. Jia’s been here for about 66 hours this week, so not sure when we’ll invite friends over again. As for tomorrow… well, maybe we’ll watch Lord of the Rings: Return of the King with Vinks. Apparently he saw the first two movies in school and he said he really enjoyed them.

Oh yeah, and Magic expansion coming out early June, we’ll be back around June 8th I think, so there’ll be another sealed-draft around the middle of June.
