Asia, Guilds, Stars, and the whole shebang

So… it’s Wednesday now, and tomorrow I’m leaving for Asia. Since last time, I found out my trip is longer; it’s not until June 8th or 4th, but until the 16th. So I’ll be out of the country for approximately 21 days. And I thought I’d be gone by tomorrow morning, say, 6 am or 9 am, but nope, turns out our flight’s at 11:45 pm. I’m 40% packed right now, but I still have a lot more time to get ready.

So I think now it’s about 4 days in Singapore, 4 days in Hong Kong, 4 days in Tokyo, 7 days in Vietnam, and another 2 days spread among those 4 places. What are we going to do? Well, that’s a hard question, because we’re not sure yet. We wanted to contact Jason and ask him about it, but he’s been awfully unreachable. So far, all I know is: Buy wood sandals for Amy, and try KFC in Japan because it’s done differently, as Ambrose says.

We’ll take plenty of pictures, and maybe some video too. I wanted to get another digital camera (something less bulky than the one we have) for my own uses, but I haven’t done that yet… my mom says I should buy one there, so perhaps I will… if I can, perhaps I’ll blog over there, but I’m not sure about that yet.

So that’s it about Asia. We’ve taken some medicine to prevent… whatever.. so hopefully nothing terribly wrong happens there. Anyway, I hope they have good deals on… stuff, in Japan. Gonna buy lots of souvenirs. You guys all want T-shirts, right? ;)

In other news:

Guild Wars

Guild Wars is an MMORPG, just like World of Warcraft, the artifact of destruction that has stolen a whole lot of my friends, of their time and their ability to do anything else other than play WOW. So, the other day Duy decided that we should all get it, and that we did; first Duy, Jia, and myself, then Ambrose followed the day before we saw Star Wars, and then Ray got it after Star Wars.

Now before, I was bashing the MMORPG games, because all you do is click on an enemy and press certain #s to do stronger attacks or to heal when your life bar gets too low. Anyway, so I decided to try Guild Wars, cuz I haven’t really played this type of game (other than the WOW beta), and it’s certainly cheaper than WOW. $50+0+0+0<$60+20+20+20…

So I’m giving it a spin. In most games, I’m usually the warrior type, the strong guy with a sword that doesn’t rely on much magic. This time, I’m trying the Necro side, and warrior combined. It’s… fun. I do like guild wars, and as Ray and others said, the fun comes in playing with friends, doing a quest at the same time. Solo-ing isn’t really as rewarding, although the Necro-warrior isn’t much of a helper, other than “help kill faster so bad guy deals less damage”.

So far, we haven’t all been online at the same time, so I haven’t had much multiplayer questing yet. The most was yesterday, when my bro and Lachlan were doing some quests together. Anyway, I don’t see Guild Wars stealing people’s time like World of Warcraft, except maybe an odd hour or two within the day and then 3-5 hours after 10:00 pm.

Star Wars

On Saturday, Ray, Ambrose, myself, Duy, Jia, Alan, and… Jeff? Went to see Star Wars, episode 3, Revenge of the Sith. Long story short, I liked the movie. My score lies between 6.6 and 8.8 out of 10, so I guess 7.7 would make a good score. First things first.

It’s better than Episode 1 and Episode 2. It’s hard to compare to eps 4-6, because I haven’t seen them in quite a while. CGI was done well, I’m not sure what was real and what was cgi, or I should say, the CGI blended in well with the people and stuff. I liked how they managed to tie episode 3 into episode 4, because they had to, and I think it was well done. The story’s pretty good. Some story was a bit… simple, but overall it’s pretty good, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Wen has a pretty good review too, read that.

As Wen said, one too many light saber battles. But oh well. Hayden Christensen was good, etc… Jar Jar didn’t say a word, that was nice.

Over on Wen’s blog, there’s a link to Darth Vader’s blog. Although he’s no longer updating since Revenge of the Sith, there’s still quite a lot to read, and it’s nicely written. I suggest reading that.

All Other Stuff

Clapping in the summer is harder than in the winter, I guess it has to do with sweat or humidity. Thus, Donkey Konga is much harder now. Speaking of which, we got Donkey Konga 2, and there was an EBGames offer that we couldn’t refuse; buy the game with the bongos, get a free $39.99 set of bongos, so now we have 4 bongos, yay!

It’s been a while since I stopped playing any real poker, but nowadays I play fake poker by myself, where I deal 3 hands, where I’m only allowed to look at one, and the other 2 hands check, raise, and fold at pretty random points. Sometimes it’s surprisingly… funny, or realistic what they do, so I started a log of the interesting hands I’ve played. Yeah, call me crazy :P

The other day I put a canned pineapple ring on my hamburger. It was delicious. See, if pineapple can go with cake, fruit cups, juice, sweet and sour pork, and pizza, then it can go with anything. And I love pineapples too.

A pineapple cannot talk.

Jia was over for a lot of days… oh yeah, that happened last time I blogged. He then came over on Wednesday again because my mom wanted him to do some work with us, and then he stayed till Saturday night. Monday we went to Hawk’s house, and then I came home and Duy stayed there with Jia.

I slept for 10 hours yesterday. Went to bed at 3:00 am, woke up at 1:30 pm.

On Monday, when going home from Hawk’s, I went to a KFC to get a chicken sandwich that’s dipped in BBQ sauce, but they were out. Actually, they were totally out of sandwiches. And now… Duy bought me a McChicken Sandwich.

So we’ll be back around the 16th of June. So… 20th is a Saturday, right? That should be the day of our Magic Draft. Duy, myself, Alan, and Vinks I think are participating so far. Join us.

Cancelled my Xbox Live service. I wasn’t using it enough, didn’t play online too much, nor did I enjoy it so much. Just used it for downloading additional content. It’s worth trying out the 2month trial, but for me, not worth the $79.99 cdn annual subscription.

Oh yeah, one more thing, I just remembered. I’m trying a change of wardrobe. Haven’t worn jeans in a while, so I’m wearing those now. Also I look around me and everyone has a blank t-shirt, or a t-shirt with a tiny logo somewhere; same goes with regular shirts and hooded sweatshirts and whatever. All my t-shirts have something on them, like a picture from some city or state (souvenir t-shirts), or maybe a funny picture. So I’m trying that now… bought a blank blue t-shirt and a blank white t-shirt, and I must say I like it.

So… that’s it! For those going to Anime North, have fun! And for everyone, I’ll miss you! See ya in 3 weeks :)
