Life, Live, Deuces, and the Count

Point form update.

The Usual

Last trivia answers were Faith Hill – there you’ll be; Linkin Park – One Step Closer; and Blink 182 – All the small things

This time:

1. “How can I help it if I think you’re funny when you’re mad”
2. “Out across the endless sea / I would die in ecstasy”
3. “Leaving just your picture behind / and I’ve kissed it a thousand times” (if you just guess the song that’s okay)

#1 too hard? Here is another lyric portion of number one, if you need it. (highlight below)

“Get in tune with Sailor Moon ‘cause that cartoon has got the boom, anime babes…”

And continuing on, here’s the clip of the week. David was pleased with the clip from the last update, so I put together another 3:30 portion from another episode of the same series.

http://www.baomon.com/board/gen-plamo.wmv (6mb, 3:30)

This clip isn’t as exciting, or energetic as the last clip, and it doesn’t have a sad ending or anything. It’s a lot more normal, and a bit more mundane, so it’s not as much of a picker-upper (cheerer-upper) as the other clip, but here it is anyway.

My exams are on the 18th, 18th, and 21st. Thus, I haven’t had any motivation to do any serious studying, which… kinda sucks, makes it feel like I’m taking my vacation a bit too early.

Videogames

It’s been a while already, but we’ve bought Donkey Konga and DK’s Jungle Beat for the gamecube, both which come with bongos; It’s a lot of fun. We also bought Karaoke Revolution for XBOX, and that’s pretty awesome too, although there are a lot of songs we don’t know.

I’m listening to Britney Spears right now. And now it just changed to Avril Lavigne.

We got XBOX Live. FINALLY! Well, first, I wanted to know what additional songs were available for download for Karaoke revolution, and long story short I figure out that all those ‘2 month free trial’ cards that come with games, have expired, March 31st, 2005.

So, that sucks. But then I read some messages in the official xbox forums, and long story short, I tried out the 2 month trial form which I got from Halo 2, and yes, it still worked. So, now we have xbox live.

We also have new spells for Magic Battlegrounds, new cars and tracks for Project Gotham Racing 2, and new songs for Karaoke revolution. Unfortunately, some of the downloadable content costs money, and the songs were one of those things; so we bought 2 of the expansion packs, so we got 11 songs for $16.08. Which halfly explains why I’m listening to Avril (and Michael Jackson) now.

Anime

Genshiken’s done after 12 episodes. Ended well, glad to have that something happened at the beginning of episode 12, made me very happy, even though it was a sad event.

From Gankutsuou episode 22 and its preview for episode 23, I can tell it wasn’t going to make it to 26 episodes. I was right. It ended at 23 episodes. It is an ending, but I expected more… well, first of all, ep 23 was really odd and abrupt, and I really love it when they show the ‘aftermath’. Sure, it ended, and you can’t argue that it’s an open ending and maybe the show’s creators wanted to do it, and my opinion of it is just… an opinion.

No, it wasn’t like that. It fully ended, everything answered, but I want to have another episode which shows the good guy getting back together to his friends, and how things are now… like the last 2 minutes of Scrapped Princess, which shows what happened in the future when things are back to normal. That kind of thing would be nice.

Anyway, Gankutsuou was an amazing series for me to watch. It’s based on the Count of Monte Cristo, but with enough differences here and there. I recommend it. Actually, maybe later I’ll post a 3 minute clip, to see if you can… withstand it.

I downloaded more anime, in a rage where Alan pissed me off so much, so I let Azureus (arch nemesis of World of Warcraft) run for the whole day, in which time I accumulated a lot of anime and the whole house couldn’t play world of warcraft.

Food

I suddenly got back in love with sparkling water. I haven’t had it for a year or so, I think, and recently went to shopper’s drugmart and bought 2 bottles, and now I can’t resist it, so went to sobey’s and bought 5 bottles of a different brand. Not as good as Life brand, but oh well.

Did we tell you about the Mega Roll? It’s a sushi thing, $12 (after tax) for 8 pieces, but it’s so worth it. It’s like, 3 or 4 types of sushi in one… there’s salmon, cucumber, egg, eel, tempura, etc; it’s very big, and worth it. Also, when we first bought the mega roll and ate in, they prepared a dish for us for free, consisting of warm rice and lots of eel pieces. It was really good. Warm rice with fish was really gooood. Warm rice is the key.

I want chicken wings tomorrow night.

TV, DVD, and stuff

The other day Alan bought CSI Season 1, when we bought Karaoke Revolution. Season 1 has a lot of great episodes. Anyway, since then, J, A, and myself have watched 15/23 episodes, as well as some more from seasons 2 and 3.

Today I went to pick up some notes from a friend, and then I visited HMV for a bit. I realized that if I had some Simpsons seasons on DVD… then I wouldn’t… watch them? There’s something about Simpsons that you don’t watch over and over, different than Family Guy or Futurama… so I don’t think I’ll be buying any Simpsons for a while.

Batman Animated Series has a dvd boxset now. Woohoo. Actually, all shows basically have a boxset. Gilmore girls, Dawson’s Creek, Dead Like me, Full House, Who’s the boss, Saved by the bell… you name it, there’s probably a box set for it.

There was even a boxset for Tru Calling, which I thought just started season 1 on Fox a few weeks ago… or am I wrong? Is it Season 2 now on TV? Anyway, it was 15 hours of tv for $85, so I couldn’t buy it. But I did love the Tru Calling episodes I watched, so if it was cheaper I would’ve been tempted to buy it.

Other stuff

I remember I wanted to have a huge blog update in the middle of March, but I never got around to doing it. I went to a kegger, that was fun, I blogged about it in my LJ. Had dreams, won poker tournaments (go pocket deuces!), played new collectible card games, etc…

Actually, let’s talk about poker for a bit. I haven’t played a poker cash game in about a month. I realized they were doing much harm so I stopped doing that, but I still go to a few poker tournaments. I haven’t played poker online for 3 weeks, I guess I’m growing tired of it, and my addiction or whatever is dying.

Anyway, the last tournament hand I won was pretty cool. Not sure if anyone cares, but I care, so I’ll post it. It was cool. So I already eliminated one person, so there were 2 players left (small tourney at friend’s house). So there were 4 people, $5 each, winner takes all. Peter had 69 chips, Kevin had 105, which means I had 226. Kevin was small blind for 2, I was big blind for 4. Peter raises it to 12, Kevin thinks about it and calls.

I’m holding pocket deuces, which I really don’t like too much. I call them “flop-dependent” cards, because if the flop’s not happy for me, I would almost have to fold to any raise. Anyway, so I thought about it for a while, and I said out loud that I really wanted to see the flop, so I put in the extra 8 chips.

Flop comes up, 2, 8 J. Kevin checks, I slow play and check, and then Peter goes all in with his 57 other chips. Kevin takes his sweet time, and after a lot of thinking (or fake thinking or whatever), he calls. Immediately after he calls, I re-raise Kevin all in. So he has 36 chips left, so now he goes back into really deep thinking. What the hell could I have? Maybe Peter was bluffing, but Bao… reraising like that… what the hell?

So what could Bao have? He won’t call pre-flop with 28, 2J, or 8J; so… what is it? Okay, so Kevin was hesitant, but he already put in 57 chips post-flop (69 total), so it would be almost wrong to not put in the additional 36 chips, especially with the cards he’s holding. So, of course, he calls.

Peter shows pocket Queens, Kevin has pocket Aces, and I’m holding Deuces, so I hit my trips. Turn and River were no help to either of them (a 3 and a 6 I think), and thus I win.

Anyway, so that wasn’t really a point-form update, but that was fun writing. Anyway, back to more half studying…
