Lunar Poker

Okay, I guess the ‘one post a week’ or so deal isn’t working so well… not enough comments :P That is, comments let me know if people are reading these, and what people think. If nobody reads, then why am I writing? If nobody downloads, why am I posting links?

Anyway, the ‘Ambrose prediction’ thing worked last time, and I thought I shouldn’t abuse it and post it for every blog update, although it DID happen for the most recent update. Except for Ambrose, damn you all for not posting. ARGH!! David said he’ll read the post and download the Dragostea, but I’m not sure if he did. He probably downloaded the Dragostea but didn’t read the rest… *hint hint* …

So… let’s try blogging every couple of days… not sure how short I can keep my posts though. But oh well.

So… Lunar Fest was on the past few days, at the SLC and the night event too. That was awesome. Spring Rolls and grilled pork was good, took a lot of pictures, maybe I’ll post some later. The fashion show portion was cool, the dance was awesome. Best dance I’ve been to so far; lots of VSAs there and friends too. Good representation of our club, so mingled with lots of people. And they played our song! Karen and I were so happy. Yeah, I got her obsessed with it too.

I also got tipsy for the first time. That was… interesting. I haven’t been drunk yet… but I got tipsy. Also, for a while I thought I really liked Kokane, the beer, but I haven’t had it since the first time. Ya know what it is? It’s not that I like Kokane, cuz later I tried a bottle of it, it wasn’t that good.

No, it was rather, drinking from a glass tastes better and everything than drinking from a bottle. I’ve had some good beer that night, from glasses… I’d say I had about 4 cups that night. I danced, had 1, danced more, had 2 more, and then danced a lot and then I decided to try that Kokane. That’s when I started getting tipsy. Walking was usually fine, but every now and then I’d lose my balance a bit, and I’d think to myself, “wow, I’m tipsy.” Visual senses seemed to work okay, audio senses were a bit different, but it was okay. That was fun. Lots of other good vsa friends there, and the night was awesome.

In other news, poker is cool. I still play the $1 tournaments, and of the last 2 I played, I won both of them. Duy was there, watching me live on Tuesday night. It was SOO awesome. I take pictures of my poker games, so I can post some later if you’d like. But there were 4 people left, (only top 3 win money), and I had 170 chips left (everyone starts with 1000 chips), and I was big blind for 100, so I had 70 chips left, and I get dealt… AA.

Perfect timing. So of course, I go all in (raise 70) pre-flop, people call, I triple up to about 600. I get K6, I go all in again (since I’m pretty much dead) and I triple up again to 1800. Meanwhile, a bit later, I go down to 900, but some guy goes all in for 2200 and loses it to some guy, so now I’m guaranteed third place.

Long story short, after many, many hands, I come out in first. And that was too awesome. From 70 chips to 10,000 chips. niiice. =)

Today… well, the best part was the first hand. I was first to act, so I call big blind (10) on 38 suited. Usually, first hand, if it’s not terribly horrible, I’d play it. Guy after me raises 10, and then 5 other people call, and since I already put in 10, I put in the other 10. Big blind and small blind folded though.

Flop comes up, 3J3. I’m first to act, I check. Guy after me raises about 360, guy after him calls and I call; everyone else folds. Turn comes up: 8. So 3J38 is on the board, I’m holding a full house. I check; we have 620 chips left, guy after me raises about 300, guy after him raises all-in; I call, and the other guy calls. The guy after me is holding AA, the guy who raised all in is holding 10-10, and I’m holding full house, 3’s full of 8’s. River comes up a king, helps nobody, and I win. 38 suited has never been that awesome to me.

And… instead of trying to think of more stuff to write about, well, short and sweet’s the way to go. So to summarize… people should read my blog and post comments, I had fun at lunar fest, and online poker is awesome. If anyone feels like joining the online poker trend (no credit card required, just bank account would be fine), message me so I can refer you. =)

In other news, Jia had a crazy dream a few weeks ago, and now he’s eating bread soup. Those two points are unrelated though.

(What a way to end a blog entry…)
