Betrayers of Dragostea Japan
My last update – Firstly, was on Saturday the 22nd, which is 2 weeks ago. Of course, since then, lots of stuff happened, some of which has kept me from writing in my blog, including my anime event on the 28th, the two exams this past week, and the magic draft yesterday. So, that’s where I’ve been, and that’s why I haven’t written.
My current obsession - Secondly, is a song. Have you been to Kyle’s blog lately? I should link to it… anyway, you can get to it through Ching’s or Christa’s blog, and he has posted a link to a silly/scary flash video of a dude mouthing to a foreign song and dancing to it, whilst sitting in front of his computer.
After a while, I started distributing the link, and apparently people already know the song, and it’s an awesome song, so they sent it to me, and I’ve been listening to it ever since. For the past few days, 90% of the time my WinAmp has had this song on. Otherwise it’s one of 2 or 3 other songs. IT’S SO GOOD!
I’m not sure why it’s so good… well, it is. First of all, it’s a good song; catchy, good melody, and the qualities of a good song. And now that I’ve read the lyrics (and also made my own up before I saw the real lyrics), I can sing along to it. And after watching that guy dance in front of his computer, I can move along to it too, and since the video has captivated me, it’s a memorable song and dance, kinda.
So what’s the song called? It’s by O-Zone, I think a Romanian band, and the song is called Dragostea Din Tei. Check below :) and download it. And comment about it. And blog about it. It’s captivated me. Maybe you have to watch the video first or not. Or read the lyrics (and the translation too).
Downloads of the day – Thirdly, these are the downloads of the day. The first of course, is my obsessive song, O-Zone – Dragostea Din Tei.
http://www.baomon.com/board/dragostea-din-tei.mp3 (5.0 mb)
Next, same song! However, with my audio card and software and stuff, you can change the tone and pitch or atmosphere or whatever, so this is just the same song but with the “male to female” conversion. It’s… squeakier? Like, ya know when you double-speed a song, the voices sound like chipmunks? It’s not as chipmunky, but it’s getting there, but it’s the same speed. I quite like this version of the song too. Sometimes it’s easier to listen to it. You’d think it would sound annoying, but it doesn’t. Anyway, the file sounds a bit weird for the first 4 seconds, but the rest is fine. OH YEAH, do you put songs on repeat? Cuz that’s the only way I listen to songs, and if you keep listening to it like I do, then… yeah, that’s the way I do it :P
http://www.baomon.com/board/dragostea-female.mp3 (3.5 mb)
Next download is the lyrics. There are 3 parts to this text file; my lyrics, the real lyrics, and the English translation. Enjoy singing along to the song!
http://www.baomon.com/board/myeahee.txt
Next download is another song, which is something I FINALLY found (because I didn’t know the name of the song before), but I’ve been wondering about it for a while. Anyway, primarily or probably only I and David would be interested in this song, and it’s one of the songs on Drum Mania Version 8, that wasn’t on Version 7. I’ve finally found it! YAY! (more on the drum game later)

Lastly, the last download of the day is optional. It’s like an anime music video, yet not. It uses clips from Azumanga Daioh, and it recreates the three trailers to the three Lord of the Rings movies. It’s pretty good, Duy saw it, he likes it. So, it has Azumanga Daioh spoilers, and, well, it’s commercials for the movies, so it’s not really a spoiler for those. If you’ve seen the movies it might make more sense, but even if you haven’t, it’s still not bad. It requires the xvid codec, and it’s 90 megs (and 9 minutes). David can watch it later when he comes over…

Orisinal - Fourthly, has updated! Orisinal is a link to some flash games made by 1 guy, Terry Halim, and he used to update every 2 months with a new, innovative, novel cute game, but he’s been busy lately and hasn’t updated for a while. Anyway, since we’re all bored at some time, check it out sometime while procrastinating an assignment or something. The challenge of the day: Play the monkey game! Get more than 315. If you beat that, or give up on it, try to beat my 5200 on the newest game, in the top left corner. Enjoy! Also, if you haven’t been to the site before, the first few games, like the chicken game, are the most captivating, so I recommend that one first.
Idols are cool – Fifthly, I was going to write a bit about this but then I thought I shouldn’t. Anyway, in December I bittorrented an idol video. Japanese idols seem to be young girls who are, well, idols to other girls. Some cute, or hot, or talented or whatever, and so I started watching this video and then I downloaded some more Japanese stuff, such as commercials and more idol dvds. So I got addicted to a song in a commercial for a while too… Ayumi Hamasaki seems to be pretty famous in Japan. She seems to be in a lot of commercials for her music, and a spokesperson for a lot of other products such as Candy products and Panasonic products.
Mel’s Diner is still expensive – Sixthly, Johnny Fiasco’s does not serve lunch anymore; in fact, they’re only open ~8:00pm-2:00am, 3 or 4 different nights a week, so one of our spots for eating has closed down, pretty much. So we went to Mel’s Diner a few times. I had their Ribs special once, it was pretty darn good. Lots of ribs, for a relatively good price.
And the other day I had Hot Hamburger for $9.85, which are larger patties (about 1.3 times the size) with a medley of vegetables, and lots of gravy on it. The open faced bread is almost non-existent, yet still necessary. It was a good meal. I recommend it.
Campus Cove – Eighthly, MathSOC had a Cove night a while ago, where you can go and play games for Free! So I went, got free water and pizza slice, and played games for free; a few fighting games, a few driving games, and of course… well, two other games.
There is now a Sword game at Campus Cove. Motion sensors are pretty cool nowadays. You get a sword (or pool cue or stick), and you wave it around and a sensor detects your movements so it knows when you slash (which direction) and when you parry and stuff. It’s pretty neat. Me and 4 other guys took turns playing it to beat it, it was fun. If it wasn’t free, we would’ve spent at least 25 bucks on it, but alas, it was free. I wouldn’t mind spending a buck or two for a few lives.
And of course, I played the Drum game maybe 6 times. It wasn’t as crowded as usual, so I had the chance to play it a lot. Still fun!
The drum game – Ninthly, speaking of the drum game, when I was looking for the song, I came across a site dedicated to the drum game. At first I just wanted the song, but they forced free registration (to access the song) on me, so I did that. Since I registered, I might as well look around at the site.
Many months ago I considered ‘obtaining’ the drum game. Of course, I couldn’t obtain it for $7000. I could, however, had imported a Japanese PS2, with the Japanese game and the PS2 drum pad, and then I could’ve played Drummania 2nd mix or something, and that would’ve run me about $500.
Anyway, checking the site, I found another solution. Well, first, they have Drummania on computer; not officially, but they have like, a stepmania for it. And, they have a computer drum kit! And it’s about $150 cdn, so it’s not too expensive. So… it might actually be obtainable! So I might do that. Not yet… but eventually, yes.
Godsend – Tenthly, I just watched it. It’s a movie. It’s 11:02 PM now, so this blog won’t be up till Sunday. Godsend wasn’t a really great movie… and the ending definitely wasn’t happy. I expected a happy ending, from the way it was going, but it wasn’t happy and that… left me feeling uneasy. My mom told me the movie would be scary, and seeing how it starts and stuff, you just KNOW that it’s going to be scary and bad things are going to happen, and that is stressful enough. I felt it was a very stressful movie, that is, it made me very stressed.
Ten point five th ly – You’ve read for a while, and probably put down a lot of notes about the things you want to comment on. Thanks for reading thus far! Here, have a few minutes of break. Here is something you can download. It’s a commercial. Jody sent it to me.
http://omind.free.fr/stock/aa_30s.avi (5mb)
DVD Games – Eleventhly, we have been playing some of those lately. For Christmas, “we”, that is, us, or the household, got some dvd games from the parents, but we play them as a family. The games are Scene It, and the DVD version of Family Feud.
Scene it is a movie trivia game, but even someone like Duy can play along just fine. It asks questions about movies, in terms of questions, videos, ‘wheel of fortune’ puzzles, word puzzles, and picture puzzles. It’s actually quite fun. Not sure how David will fare though… but we should play it, I’d say.
Family Feud DVD edition, now that’s also fun. Okay, we play a different way than the directions say, because… well, the directions aren’t properly fun. We play everyone for themselves, with their own pens and paper, and it’s fun. We should play that.
Dreams – Twelfthly, lately, during this examination period, I’ve had bad dreams. Well, they were vivid, and they were kinda stressful. I can’t say they were very good dreams, although their clarity was more present than some of the good dreams. I’ve had some awesome dreams lately too, of course, but I won’t or can’t type about them here.
However, I will mention one dream. On the night of Wednesday the 26th, I dreamt that I was at the SLC and I was talking to Lachlan at a desk in the great hall. Then, I see David near the Turnkey, and he was talking to some people. Eventually, he walks over and sits down and I ask David if he remembers Lachlan’s name, but he doesn’t know; however, I ask Lachlan about David and he knows. Also, apparently my dream says Lachlan has talked to David before, and David told him some stuff that he usually wouldn’t tell other people, so Lachlan called David “David”, but in a different tone than usual, maybe because that was his REAL name. Anyway, later one of Lachlan’s friends (new person, but a friend in the dream) came by and Lachlan asked me I remembered his name, and I said something, but I (outside of the dream) don’t remember what, and then Lachlan would tell me yes, “Anish” – two different pronunciations, “Awnish” and “Danish” without the D. And that’s it.
Minority – Thirteenthly – Minority Report is on TV. That reminds me, David still needs to watch it. It does have its twists… which reminds me, Godsend would’ve been pretty sweet if it had that twist I was thinking about…. Anyway…
Poker – Fourteenthly, I went to a poker tournament on Thursday. And like in my dream, I was sitting at a desk, in the SLC. And to my left, there was a Danish guy! Coincidental, eh? Anyway, the tournament was pretty bad for me, but I watched the whole tournament, and it was pretty cool. There was a cute girl too, and she sat beside me for the first while. That’s all :)
In other poker news, Vu paid me back the money he owed me, and then I lost some of it at poker, haha. But then the other day I made $35 in poker. That feels pretty darn good! It feels bad losing a lot, but winning so much money makes you feel so good. Like, I had to leave early to go home and play Smash with the boys (Smash tournament coming up in real life, so had to practice), so 10 minutes before I left I was even, but then I hit a big hand (cash game, not tournament) and from my original 20 I made about 30. Then I stayed longer and won some more, so I totally won $35. It was freaking Sweet. Online, I’m doing pretty good too. Still got a longs way to get back to even from the first Empire Poker. On Ultimatebet, I’m up though.
ANIME – Fifteenthly – I had my VSA Anime nite on the Friday 28th. Andy was a bum and didn’t show up and help us carry boxes, nor did he even come. Oh well. It was a good event still. Mai Hime 1-3, Samurai Champloo 1, Genshiken 1, Urda, and Yakitate Japan 1. Gunslinger Girl 1-3 didn’t make the cut, because more people wanted to play more games instead.
Yakitate Japan was a fan favourite for everyone. Duy, Alan, all of them really loved it. You should see it. I guess I should download more now. By Japan, for Japan. The game tournament was awesome too, everyone had fun I think.
That which was not Taken – Sixteenthly – We had our Betrayers of Kamigawa draft yesterday. JABAD, Jason/Alan/Bao/Andy/Duy participated in it; 1 Champions starter and 4 Betrayers Booster, in our Sealed/Draft style. It was quite fun. We bought a box of betrayers cuz it was worth it, but the box had such bad coalition that we got 4 of the same rare… well, 3, cuz a holofoil rare counts as a different rare. But what the hell? We missed out on so many rares, and even some few uncommons.
It’s a good set – David will experience it tomorrow. Tomorrow, as in Sunday. Anyway, the set is good. Not sure if I’d buy boosters though, after this… well, I have enough cards for now, so I don’t think I need boosters, and… I don’t know if I’ll like boosters… like, in Darksteel and Mirrodin, whenever I open a booster, I can use multiple cards from it (cuz they’re all artifact, but that’s beside the point). Champions boosters seem to be good for that too. However, Fifth Dawn boosters are very disappointing; if you don’t get the rare you want, the rest of the booster doesn’t seem to be very… good. Not so amazingly useable cards… Betrayers is okay, better than Fifth Dawn, but not as good as Champions.
Anyway, it was a fun draft. My draft deck is okay, can’t be modified now, but it could be much better with the replacement of 6 cards or so.
So yes, we opened more boosters afterwards; 16 boosters, 8 for me and 8 for Alan. We opened a few new rares, and they seem pretty good. We’ll have a couple good constructed decks…
END! – Seventeenthly, that’s the end of the blog update. So long, yes, I know. That happens when I don’t blog for 2 weeks, due to business of stuff.
Bleyscha Bleschta, Numa Numa Yay! Numa Numa Yay! Numa Numa Numa Yay!
