one gatheRING to rule them all
It's Christmas! Right now I'm transferring files from my old computer to my new XPS computer (more on that later). So I don't want to do anything hectic while my computer's interacting with the other computer. But it's late so I don't really want to blog too much.
So, we'll start with a bit about what happened during the past few days, then the present, and then the future.
Past few Days
On the 22nd, I went to Wen's gathering, the one gatheRING to rule them all. I just call it that, it has a nice ring to it. I came, Ricky came, and his brother came. It was fun, but unfortunately a little bit into the 3rd movie, the weather started getting bad so our parents requested we go home, so we did. Thus, we'll have to finish it some other time.
On the 23rd, well, the weather sucked ass, but we still did a bit of shopping... we went to Chapters and Futureshop, bought stuff, but we didn't make it to Square One, but oh well. At night, my dad and I went to our Mercedes in the EMTC parking lot and cleaned off the ice on the windows so my sister could drive home later. Damn there was a lot of ice.
On the 24th, the weather was crappy... well, it was okay, but the driveways sucked, but long story short, we didn't go shopping. But we did shovel snow... damn it was cold.
Computer and pre-Christmas
In other news, my new computer has a few problems, one of which is fixed. The fixed problem was the network problem - this computer couldn't connect to other computers, and my old computer can see this computer but not access it. Turning off Windows Firewall and Norton Internet security firewalls and stuff fixed that problem.
The other problem is that my computer is "too good" for old harddrives. That is, I opened up my computer, so I can put the old D: and G: drives in, but alas, my new computer only accepts "serial" harddrives, and not the... old ones, so... yeah, that sucked poo. Luckily, this computer has a ~230 gig harddrive so it can copy a few files over from the other few old harddrives.
Anyway, I'm not sure how it got into tradition, but we open presents Christmas eve, rather than Christmas day. And thus, we've opened our presents! But first, stuff we had before Christmas:
- New TV! It's a beauty. We've wanted a new TV, a big TV, for a while, and now we have one. It's a 62-inch widescreen Sony Wega LCD Rear Projection. It's nice. Burnout 3 looks especially good. So do movies and things.
- New couches! In the same room as the TV, they're pretty spiffy.
- Improved Pool-table-related-stuff! That is, better cue sticks, and the correct triangle and the Blue Solid is now here.
Presents
And a few new changes here and there. Anyway, now that we've opened Christmas presents, we have now:
- Metroid Prime Echoes
- Baten Kaitos (gamecube RPG)
- Mario Party 6
- Futurama DVD volumes 1-4 (had #1 before)
- Snatch DVD
- The "Scene it?" Movie DVD trivia game
- etc
And we might get more games or whatever too, since we got Futureshop giftcards as well. And my sister made the best chocolate cake ever - the kind of cake you can buy at Red Lobster for $4.59 a slice. Also, when I opened echoes, my was creative and wrapped his World of Warcraft box, and put Metroid Prime echoes in it. So, when I opened it I thought it was World of Warcraft! And I kept thinking it was World of Warcraft until my bro told me to open the box.
Phew... I thought I was going to have to start playing it, hehe. The weird part is that I was there when we bought Prime Echoes, so I knew that he would get that for me, but it didn't occur to me that... he.. didn't get me... World of Warcraft. That was pretty scary...
Anyway, so we played Scene it, and it's pretty fun. Tomorrow will be a Mario Party 6 day and... other game day. I hear this game's much better than Party 4 and 5, which were rather disappointing. And it has a microphone! Hopefully that'll work well.
Future: Party
Anyway, I said that we'll have a party this year, and yes, the party's set for Tuesday, December 28th. Say, 2ish, as usual, stay until whenever, possibly sleepover, maybe not, whatever, we'll see. Bring games, magic cards, movies, money for food perhaps, etc. Bring presents if you want to... maybe we should do some present-exchanging this year? That'd be wicked cool! But it hasn't been planned yet, and it might be costly or whatever, and... stuff...
So for now, it'll be a regular party. So it'll be fun! Short notice of course, so attendance might be less than usual. Cousins from Montreal will be here too.
Anyway, so that's it for now! We'll be shopping on Boxing Day, most likely, unless we can have friends over; Christmas day is most likely off limits; and if there's a party on Tuesday, Monday will be un-free. Merry Christmas!
::edit:: - New SSB Term! --
It's probably been a while since Duy updated his SSB or SSBM Term-text list, so since then, a billion new phrases have been made. My newest one which I made up came about when we were playing that crappy mario stage in SSB, the one that's... weird. The term is called Wrong Side of Monkey, and if you are on the wrong side of monkey, then you die. Long story, short, at the far right, if monkey is to the right of you, and you land to the left of him, you are on the wrong side of monkey, and then you get backwards-throwed to the right and you lose.::/end edit::
