Bao's BLOG!!

Okay, so right now (Saturday night) I'm in Mississauga, typing up the blog, listening to Gankutsuou intro, and sipping on some chocolate milk. And, I'm using my new computer. ^^ Yes yes, my new computer is here. Anyway, more on that in the next few paragraphs. So I'll talk a bit about my new computer, and then about this weekend's events. Originally I was going to review or talk about certain games like Thousand Year Door, Halo 2, a bit about Wow, and other games in the past (like, whatever happened to 4-Swords?), but I'll save that for another update. (and sorry if the big line breaks are too big, it's a stupid blogger thing that happens sometimes) First, song of the day! From the latest torrent batch of OC Remixes, here's an Final Fantasy 7 One Winged Angel remix. For some reason or another, I really like it! I can really listen to this one a lot, over and over again. Enjoy. http://www.baomon.com/board/ff7-oc.mp3 (6mb) XPS - X-Pen-Sive, X-Portable - Beast Okay, so the PC! It's a beastly 3.40 ghz (I could've gotten 3.6, but Jason said it wasn't worth it), the usual gig of ram, etc. etc... and of course, as with most dells I get, a new videocard is nice. And yes... I got a new videocard. Unfortunately, I haven't had the software to test it yet. I guess I could install WoW on this computer, but Duy already installed it on the other one so no need. Gotta get games and stuff from 'Loo... Okay, so the PC is blue, which is cool. And some of it glows... well, there's a silver plate, and you can see some of the inside of the computer from there, and there's a blue light that they put there to make it look cool. So, it's a Dell XPS. Ya know what XPS stands for? X-Pen-SIVE! Also, X-Portable-System, as in, NOT PORTABLE system. It's freaking huge. Each time I look at it, I keep thinking that it's Huge! Okay, it's under my desk now, so I can't see the top of it as much. OKay, imagine this: My regular dell tower; 30% taller, and 20% wider (length from front to back is relatively the same). Yes, it's that big. I'm not exaggerating... At least, I think I'm not. But it's still huge :P So anyway, I don't need it in Waterloo yet, and Alan said he doesn't need my old computer to play WoW or anything, so I'll keep it here in 'Sauga until I move back to Waterloo for the Winter term. I ordered the adapter that lets me use two VGA monitors, so while Duy was out at his test, I borrowed his monitor, so I had two! That was interesting for a bit. Haven't found a practical use of it yet... maybe I can play WoW and MSN at the same time? ;) Anyway, is there a way to have two different desktop backgrounds? Or, have 1 bg that stretches across both of them? Cuz I'd like that... I don't like these new Dell keyboards... actually, the only thing I don't really like is the positioning of those "End, Delete, Insert, Home, Page up and Page down" buttons... I keep hitting delete instead of End....... anyway... the keyboard's okay otherwise. The graphics card... ooh... well, as I said, I haven't actually tested it out yet, but it should be good. 256mb Radeon X800 XT... .... I don't remember putting in that I wanted a 229 gig harddrive... but I'm not complaining ;) Got a Logitech MX500 Optical mouse. Jason said I might as well have it, so sure, let's try something different. Well, not too different... I've used a mouseman in the past, so I'm used to such a big mouse. It has some good buttons too, so I'll customize them for games, right? And then it'll be fun to use too. Right now it has neat buttons for scrolling and back and forward and another button too... Looks good. And works well so far. Last but not least, the sound system. 5 speakers and a subwoofer. So, center, left front, right front, left rear, right rear. This afternoon I had a good fun time testing it. There are special effects I can add, such as changing the voices from male to female (quasi-change of course), chipmunking them, etc... And of course the main thing is the environmental effects. So it changes where the sound comes from based on the effect. So one of my favourites is the "Theatre environment". So it sounds like I'm in a theatre... another popular one is the bathroom one ^^. Anyway, so I've had fun with that. Gankutsuou Intro works VERY WELL with testing the Theatre environment. It's... very good. I LOVE THIS SOUND SYSTEM! It's a novelty for me, so I'm really enjoying it now. This Weekend So, that's my new computer so far. Anyway, on Friday I e-mailed David and told him that we'd be back this weekend, so it was safe to assume that we would have friends over on Saturday. Unfortunately, that was not the case. This last Tuesday was my parents' Silver anniversary, which is their 25th anniversary, which is pretty darn important. So, today was celebration day; well, sort of. Duy had his G test (G2-exit) today, so he was preparing for it in the morning, and the test was at ~3:00. So if we had friends over, Duy wouldn't be there from 2:00-4:00, and he'd be busy preparing for it before then. And then around 6-7 we had dinner (Buffet King), so there wasn't any point for friends to come over today. As for tomorrow... well, I have my g1-exit test (AGAIN! AGAIN!) on Tuesday, so the plan is for me to stay here in 'Sauga until then; and then I'll go back Wednesday morning with Dr. Chou, an Optometry professor who's also one of our neighbours. Anyway, my mom says I have to practice driving and help clean up the house and stuff, so it's unlikely if friends can come over or not. I doubt it, but I can ask again in the afternoon. It's too bad, I really wanted to Ninja David with Unhinged, and he would've liked it too..... and stuff. But whatever, we'll see. Not sure what's happening next weekend. So... that basically takes care of the weekend. And now you know! Didn't have friends over today, can't have friends over tomorrow (Sunday). Monday? Maaaybe... Tuesday? Maaybe...
