Oh no, it is like, mmmm...damn (more elfen lied)

Okay, so here’s another Elfen Lied related post. Eventually, they’ll be another game review post, about Halo 2 and Thousand Year Door (and maybe Metroid Prime Echoes and Mario Power Tennis). And also maybe my anime/gaming event. And maybe an angry blog update, not sure about that yet. But for now, more Elfen Lied.

It seems David and Alan enjoyed the last clip. Which means it’s good. ^^ Like, that doesn’t mean David’s tastes define what good anime is. But it sure is different than everyone else’s perspective of Elfen Lied. ^^

This blog update contains 2 more clips, the first clip 16 minutes (23mb), covering most of episode 8, and the 2nd clip 4 minutes (6mb), covering what happens at the end of episode 9. If you’re like David, you can watch the first clip in its entirety; otherwise, if you find it somewhat boring, you can skip the first 7 minutes, although there’s a lot of explanations in those 7.

So, for David, you’ll watch clip #1 in its entirety, think about it, comment about it, and think about it some more. Cry some, feel some, etc, take your time, comment again, etc, reply to Alan’s comments, etc, before you watch clip #2.

And then, you can watch clip 2. Then you can post more comments on that, and think about it.

Remember. Last update, the clip was PG, mildly A with the ‘dark’ moments. These clips are more rated R, so that’s just a warning.

So anyway, if David can’t survive these two clips, then it’ll be hard to survive the rest of the series. Like, there are a lot of good parts, with great story and a lot of emotion, and then there are really… “bad” parts, and if you can’t survive the bad parts it’ll be hard to watch.

From what David saw from the last update, comparing it to the series (starting from episode 1), it’ll be like… let’s say you had a childhood friend, from since you were 6 years old until about 17. She was the nicest person ever, so generous, always so playful, always so happy. However, around when she turned 17, she had to move away for some reason.

Now you are 21 and so is she, and you finally get reunited. When you see her, she’s totally changed; she’s a smoker, a drinker, she fails classes, she does drugs, she’s a bit more gothic (in a bad way), and she’s a slut. All in all, she’s a totally despicable person. You talk to her, and she’s still friendly with you, but she’s a totally different person. However, you know that deep inside her, she’s still that cheerful nice person, and you wish you can bring her back like that, but as it is now, she’s a totally different person.

So that’s Elfen Lied. I’m not talking about the girl being a completely different person, I mean Elfen Lied is like a totally different anime. Okay, so that’s not entirely true, read the paragraphs below.

Anyway, so I previewed some episodes for you. Of the entire series, one of the most objectionable parts for David would be the first 8 minutes of episode 1. So that’s the first danger zone. The rest of the episode is pretty okay, except for a little part somewhere. And then there’s some badness in episode 2 also (from 11:00-16:00). Not that you can skip it :P Just warning so. Then 95% of episodes 3 and 5 are fine. I guess episode 4 is important, but it’s NOT FINE. Just watching the previews at the end of episode 3 make me a bit squeamish (the finger thing). So there ya go, a short warning about the first 5 episodes. If you can survive the first 4, well, then ep 5 is survivable, you know what happens for most of 8 and 9, and if the story sucked you in (the past from ep 8 and 9, the relationships between Kouta and Yuka and etc), then… you might as well watch the rest. Finish the story, etc, etc, etc…

Remember! Episode 1 is EVIL! Wait, no, the first 8 minutes (including the intro, or 6.5 minutes after the intro) are EVIL! If you get past that, you’ll be much safer.

Actually, back to episode 4, just checked it out again, it’s a good episode, except for some small parts which can be REALLY bad. So those parts bring the average of the episode down, but the rest of the episode is pretty good in quality.

So... that's it! Enjoy the clip. Have tissues handy if you need them. Or barf bags.
