party and !Vacation?
Hmm... ENTER is only a single break line now... that's good... so anyway, I guess I'll get used to this new blogger system... my entry turned out looking pretty good, so there's no need to complain.
Anyway, the update will cover what we did on Saturday, and then Sunday, so it's an update about things that happened. Dispersed throughout the update are a few thoughts, relating to things as they happened. Then, the update will end with a look into the future.
------------------ S A T U R D A Y -------------
On Saturday, I had my party. It was more of a... 'secret' party, or invite-only, so I didn't advertise it on my blog. Well, I did many weeks ago, where I stated I wanted a real party on the 17th. Definition of a real party means more of 'my' friends, that is, more people from my highschool, and perhaps internet people and stuff. More variety than just mainly Duy's group.
So, all the people that came were Wen, Jia, David, and Navin, Lachlan, Jody, Jordan, Dan, Rhys, and Eric. Andrew Paton was supposed to come, but he thought it was next weekend, so he already had plans he couldn't break for this weekend. The internet-board people couldn't make it, but that's okay. It's nice having the focused group of friends again. And boy, it was a fun party.
Anyways, it's not too interesting to cover everything we did, so I'll just give a brief overview of it. First, Wen and Jia and Duy and I played Tales of Symphonia for about 90 minutes maybe, since nobody else showed up. Navin eventually came, played some megaman and stuff, etc... Lachlan and Jody then came. Lachlan brought a bunch of his games, including Prince of Persia sands of Time and his newest game, Wario Ware for GC. David came around this time too.
Played more games, etc... pool table was being built in the basement... etc... played more games... played card games... played poker after dinner... played "ping pong"... talked... ate pizza...
Yeah, I ordered 3-4-1 pizza again. Third time I bought from them this month, compared to the average of 0 times per year for the past 15 years. Pretty much the same order, but this time we had more people, so I didn't order enough pizzas, so I modified my order and added 20 chicken wings.
Party had drinks this time. Before, parties weren't allowed to have alcohol, but now that we're all grown up (and have been for the past 2-3 years), my parents are more okay with alcohol. And it wasn't big amounts or anything... like a beer each, to everyone that wanted one. So absolutely nothing bad happened... well... there was that ping pong incident, but not related to alcohol, and it's resolved so everything's okay now.
I guess I've been hinting at the pingpong incident too much already, so for those that weren't there, Rhys, Jordan, Dan, and Navin invented a new type of ping pong; Take the ball, and smash it into the other team as hard as possible. Like Paintball, but not really. Well, at one point, the racket fell out of Rhys's sweaty hands, and broke. So that was the incident - made a little lie, told my dad about it, but all good now.
Etc, etc, eventually people left, and Jia and David were left. It was too late for Jia to leechy a ride, so we allowed him to stay over. David approached me and commented about the party, and told me how he has *never*, or rarely seen these people, these highschool people of mine, and he commented on how fun they were, and how I should have them come over more often. Thanks. Yes, they're fun people, they're a variety compared to our usual get-togethers, and that's why I invite them to parties.
However, by themselves, it's a bit awkward. For example, it's okay if I invite Lachlan, Eric, or Jody by themselves - they like videogames, anime, etc. so they'll fit right in with us. Dan's probably good with anime as well.
Navin by himself is pretty boring. He doesn't really play videogames, and I'm not sure what else... he's good for talking to, but I don't know... he's pretty boring by himself. He's not gonna get into our group easily.
Then there's Rhys, Jordan, and Dan (and technically Rob and Ryan, when they're present). I guess Rhys and Dan like video games... but that's beside the point. Rhys, Jordan, and Dan are like a social group of their own - they always hang out with each other, whereever they are. When they are in a party setting with friends like Lachlan and Jody around, they talk more and stuff... otherwise, as we saw in the pingpong game, they were playing by themselves, and we as casual spectators.
What I mean is, they're very social, and having them at a regular gathering would be somewhat out of place. But anyway, I'll invite Lachlan over a few more times over the summer, and try to see if the others want to come casually one day anyway. And now we have a pool table, which is a nice social fun game.
Anyway, eventually David leaves, and then the Pool table is done! So, Jia, Duy, and I start playing a casual game, and Dad joins us a little later. We had our ups and downs, we all sucked at some point, but we're getting better... I think... it's fun! I'll definately practice and get better...
Throughout Saturday, Jia had been 'playing' Mugen on my computer. For those that don't know, Mugen is a Step-mania equivalent to Street Fighter. Ehh... not really. Anyway, you can download or make your own characters, program your own moves, add backgrounds, background music, edit sounds, edit AI for your characters, etc, and of course, play the game. It's a very customizable game, and it's fun. Well, if you like streetfighter type games, at least.
I remember Mugen from a few years ago, but it is only yesterday when I started playing it again. I think I should start playing it again, make a new character or something, etc... it's funnnn...
Then, around 2:15, we started watching a Megaman X time-attack, just for fun, but half-way through I was tired and Duy was tired so we went to bed. Jia didn't sleep yet though, so not sure what he did. but I digress.
----------------------- S U N D A Y -----------------
Okay, then it was Sunday, today. Umm... woke up, played some more pool. Etc, BBQ for lunch, we helped make it. Anyway, Duy's internetfriend from the US was coming to visit Canada, with a stop in Hamilton by Mike Jones's place, so Duy went to Hamilton this afternoon. Speaking of which, Duy should update his blog again... Ken Jennings has almost won another million ontop of what Duy stated on his blog... anyway, Jia and I were left behind here...
Anyway, Ricky wanted to come over today, so we called him, but unfortunately he was busy helping his dad in the basement the whole day, so he couldn't come. We called Isaque, but yesterday he exploded his bathroom, so today and yesterday he was trying to implode it back to normal. We also called David, to see if he wants to watch some more FMA, but he had plans. Jody had to go to downtown, so etc, nobody else came over.
Umm... so eventually, Jia and I played some 4 Swords. Played level 1, so he can practice it, then went to play the L6 dungeon, beat it after a while. Then played L7 first stage, played for about an hour, got stuck, still played on. Then, Jia accidentally yanked the cable out of the controller port. We told Vinks to plug it back in, so he grabbed it, and just held it for a few seconds. On the screen, it says "controller has been removed, game will now go back to title screen." So we told Vinks to hurry up and put it in, but he didn't do anything. So we lost an hour of game data, so now I was pissed at Vinks. So I'm pissed at him. GRRR!!
Anyway, around 6:30, Jia went home. And the rest isn't too exciting. We got a video that would teach us how to play pool, but it was pretty boring, and the techniques were pretty advanced, so I fell asleep through half of it. That was a pretty good nap.
--------------------- W R A P U P ----------------------
So, that ends up the summary of Saturday and Sunday. Next weekend? Well, I've been telling everyone that I'm going on vacation, to California, but it turns out I'm NOT. Well, at least not yet, perhaps around August 11th, they say. I really want to go, so I really hope I go then.
In other words, I'm not busy, not out of town, next week. I think the d20 game should still be August 7th-8th. August 1st I might be busy with some camping trip or something... Anyway.. any ideas for next weekend?
One idea involves Andrew Paton, who's free next weekend, unless he made plans since I told him I'm going on vacation. A semi-party, or something. Another idea, is, the magic draft. That will have to happen eventually, and it's been a while already, so why not next week? Is there a problem?
Third idea would be a d20 game or something similar. Anyway, throw out ideas if you have any.
Ahh... I'm glad... a few hours ago I started downloading FMA 39, and it said it's ETA is 10:45, but apparently it finished at 10:00, so I can watch it now.
Time to colour the update... ahh... during this update, I listened to only 3 tracks in total, all from OCRemix. Wen has all those songs now, so he knows what I'm talking about. I was listening to Zelda_64_Gerudo_Peeples_OC_ReMix, Final_Fantasy_6_DevilsLab_Acid_OC_ReMix, and Mega_Man_2_BubblemanSoapAndWater_OC_ReMix. And now while I'm colouring I'm listening to Super_Mario_RPG_BukkisTango_OC_ReMix.
Anyway, that's it. 10:12. Throw ideas at me, and maybe other stuff, like DVD requests, and smash questions...
:: edit :: - Just watched FMA 39. It was kinda bland, until the end, which sets up for a really good episode 40, and a start into the 4th quarter of the series. I guess 38-39 were kinda meh, since there wasn't enough focus on the Ho_______ and Scar, but the end of episode 39... well, I already said it, sets up for a nice 40. Looking forward to it. :: end edit ::
