Zelda: Mystic 3d20 Calendar Experiment
Alright, it's 11:34 now, so I have 1 hour to blog before Conan. I originally planned this to be a short 'update', but unfortunately... it won't be too short. This will mostly be a wen-like post, that is, a review of stuff. Well... 20% update, 15% random, 10% rant, and 55% reviews. I'll start with the non-review stuff, and then the reviews will come after.
----------
First of all, here's a projected calendar of the following 3 months. I thought of this a few days ago, and since then changed it around to cater to different plans and different people. So this is just projected, so it's still tentative.
Saturday June 19th - Mike Jones's's birthday party
Sunday June 20th - Christa's farewell party? Maybe... cancelled?
Friday June 25th - camping trip for weekend
Saturday July 3rd - D20 game
Saturday July 10th,11th - ANIME-A-THON
Saturday July 17th - real Bao party
Saturday July 24th - Sunday August 1st - family vacation time
Monday August 2nd - holiday? - MAGIC TOURNAMENT?
Saturday August 7th - D20 game
Friday August 13th - camping trip for the weekend (most likely)
Saturday August 21st - D20 game
//End summer
Anyone want to throw in more stuff? Anyone holding a party? Well, it's all tentative now. Originally, the family vacation was early, etc... dunno about the magic tournament, or if that's the final date for the anime-a-thon. The bao party (party with more friends) was on the 10th, but moved to the 17th because I just talked to a friend.
Anyway, as you noticed, there's only room for another 3d20 games. Apparently, we're not gonna get into act 3, and i'll incorporate part of act 2 into act 1. Act 1 will finish in 3d20 games, so that's okay. Too bad we won't get to the really weird twist in act 3, with the new prestige class and some really weird... story... twist... thing...
And yeah... Christa's party has been cancelled. I'll miss her... well, maybe it's okay. I've seen her once in real life, really long time ago, and then after that our relationship has been strictly online, so it's kinda weird. And when she's in Australia, we'll still be online, so teechnically, she's not leaving at all - things will stay the same between us. Just gotta be awake at different hours :P
-------------------------------
Anyways, on to an update. I updated after the d20 game. On Sunday, we had an impulse shopping trip.. well, my mom wanted to go shopping, and she dragged us along. Bought CSI:LV season 3, rented first 7 episodes of the Jamie Kennedy Experiment season 1, and rented Mystic River. Played more Zelda 4 Swords. Had more of Kae's birthday cake.
Chose some courses. I looked at my unofficial transcript, and for me to graduate with a general math degree, I need 6 more courses, so I'll spread that over 2 terms - take 4 courses this term, then maybe 4 courses next term. I had 4 courses picked, but Alan informed me that he decided to take Stat333 in the winter instead of the fall, so now I need another course to choose.
After watching Mystic River, I had a dream about it. Saw CSI Miami today. Yesterday, saw WB SuperStar USA. Final episode is on Thursday, I'm watching it for sure. Yesterday it showed all the episodes up to the 2nd last one, so I watched the 2 eps I didn't see. Man, it was funny. My favourite part was when the 4 left-over victims went to get dance moves from the Choreographer. Mario (the skinny dude) came in and the Choreographer said "And then Mario came... and ... what was I supposed to do with him? He looks like he doesn't even listen to music."
And I thought that was hilarious. Anyway, Duy posted something about WB SuperStar USA too. Tonight was "Next Action Star", but CSI:M was on at the same time so I didn't catch NAS at all. Tomorrow is Joe Schmoe 2 on Spike, so I'll watch that. Not sure about Simple Life 2... I'll probably watch an episode of that one day.
Well... that kinda ends the update portion. Now onto random stuff.
----------------------
While walking around on Sunday, all of us were sick. Sneezing, sniffling, coughing, etc. So randomly, I just thought... does anybody like being sick? No, I'm not asking any of you, just asking about the general population. I'm not talking about, being sick to stay home from school, but being sick - just being sick. Kinda like how some people cut themselves for an adrenaline rush, or do some other harm to their body and it feels good. Are there people that enjoy being sick? Feels good to sneeze? It's like an experiment to see how different foods make you cough?
Enough random. Now time for the reviews.
----------------
So I saw the Jaime/Jamie Kennedy Experiment, again, and... well, yeah, it's still JKX. If you don't know JKX, long story short, it's like Candid Camera. Jamie Kennedy, actor, disguises himself, and fools people, candid-camera style. Puts them in weird situation, then reveals it at the end and everyone has a great laugh.
I like the JKX. Anyway, we rented it from Blockbuster, it's a full-week rental, so if you want to watch a few episodes, come over sometime before Monday. From the calendar... well, we might be busy on Saturday, if I choose to go to Mike Shinobi's party. As for my parents, they will probably go to Montreal this weekend, so... HOUSE PARTY! Bwahahaha....
---------------
Now... Mystic River.
First, a random comment. Mystic River would be like, David's favourite episode of CSI. Well, not really. Whether or not you like CSI, doesn't mean anything with Mystic River. So ignore that comment.
What I meant was, well.. mystic river is a movie, about people, emotions, etc. A crime has been committed, but the story focuses on the characters affected by the crime. CSI focuses on who did it, by analyzing the evidence. Mystic does some of that, but not in the same way CSI does. CSI is evidence, science, forensics.
Why is it called Mystic River, anyway? Where's the river? :P Anyway, I think it's a pretty good movie. Now to sound like a dvd box review - "keeps you guessing until the end." The movie's a bit more than 2 hours long, I think, and there's a lot of new information near the end, so you never know who really did it. I guess the story makes sense.
I'm a little bit confused about the ending... I think they should've stopped about 6 minutes before the end of the movie... but oh well. Anyway, I'll give the movie a 7.8/10. I see why Sean Penn won.. best actor? Yeah...
----------
Last but not least, I'll re-review Zelda: 4 Swords. Duy and I played more yesterday and today, and it has gotten more fun. The puzzles involve more co-operation, and they give you a lot of opportunity to switch to your GBA and play by yourself, checking out different parts of the dungeon by yourself, instead of always being on the same screen.
We also played the battle mode - shadow battle. Simply, Duy and I fight each other. Different levels, different items, different 'surprises'. Also a lot of funny stuff in the game. It's great. There are also other minigames, such as chasing chickens, racing, hammertag, etc. - there's a lot to do, and it's fun.
As it says on Duy's blog, there's a certain.. Linearity to the game. So I say, you have to look at the game differently. If you're expecting an epic, long, adventure, then you might be disappointed. The game's formula is different. I wouldn't say it's a party game, but it certainly has changed toward one.
The levels are separate, so after you've beaten them all, you can select any of them and play them. Since you start each level with the same things, then everything's even. So if I've played a really cool level and I want you to play it too, I can simply just choose it again.
Also, each level is relatively quick. Not quick like 5 minutes, but you won't spend hours and hours on it - so you don't have to commit a lot of time to play it. You can start it and end quickly, like a party game.
So in those respects, it makes a pretty good party game, whilst keeping the zelda touch. So I give it at least 8.5/10. It's fun. It's funny. But it's expensive to play :P
