Mosquitoes, Kirikou, Spidey2, and plans
I'm back!! :D Well, I was back maybe 12 hours ago, so now I'm blogging about it. I'm a bit tired, haven't really had a nap since we got back, so I'm naturally tired, but I'll stay up for now... besides, I'm talking to people on msn, and... etc, etc... and I'm procrastinating... so this might take a while. Anyway, since I'm talking ALL about my weekend, plus some thoughts, Plus what happened today, it might be a long update, about stuff that happened.
(currently listening to Hoobastank, Eminem, Kenya song, and some other stuff)
--------------
Anyway, so plans changed, or they were different than what they told me, and instead of leaving at 9 or 10, we left after lunch. So, etc, we leave around 1:00, and eventually we get to the campsite, switch to a different site because our location sucked, and eventually at 3:30 we were at the campsite. Sibbald Point park, not Zibald campsite, or whatever I said earlier. Jia and I had a chance to walk around before we chose our campsite, so we checked out the beach, and on our way we saw 3 baby skunks. And Jia ate a strawberry. And we smelled some other flower. And I got bit by my first mosquito bite this summer. I think.
Mosquito bites... I have.. at least 6. No no, at least 12, since there are 6 on my left arm+hand alone. I'm not sure what the big deal with mosquito bites are. Everyone else puts on repellant like crazy, and they complain when they get bit and all that... I frankly don't really care. They're like battle scars... wait, no they're not. They're just bumps, that eventually disappear. It's like, part of the summer/camping experience.
Anyway, the first day... Saturday... set up tents, went to the beach... just walked around. People were having bbqs, so we were in the mood for bbqs. Just wandered around the shore. Small beach, not too many people, not too little. Water wasn't great, I didn't go swimming, it wasn't so clean either... only saw maybe 5 people in the water...
Anyway, eventually it was night time, or like, 7pm, and it was still bright out, but we made a fire, etc, etc. For some reason, I got really sick though. Well, sick as in, coughing, and a lot of stuffy nose and a lot, a lot of sneezing. And my sneezes are pretty violent, and loud, and scary, so that sucks.
Eventually we played a bit of Mao, that was fun. Then it got pretty dark - not black dark, just dark enough so that we can't really play mao. And I was a pretty sick, Duy was a bit sick, so we decided to start trying to get to sleep. We played some word games, and then we must've been pretty bored, cuz Jia started reciting the script to the Lion King and Aladdin. It was pretty amusing. He was incredibly accurate. I think. Then we started naming... oh yeah. Duy and Jia were bored, so they started naming all the ways to get stars in Mario 64. Eventually I dozed off, and then woke up again, to hear them talk about weapons... first I thought it was a d2x thing, but later they clarified it was about FF6 weapons or relics or espers or something. Anyway, eventually I fell asleep again. We also played other words games on the ride back, including one where we just named as many things that started with the letter z. That was interestingly... weird... anyway...
In the middle of the night, say, 4am, I woke up again, cuz I was really sick. And my sleeping bag was unwieldly, and I fell off my mattress thing. Duy was awake too, and I asked him for some kleenex's. Anyway, eventually I managed to fall asleep again, and woke up again at 8 am.
--------------
Sunday. Umm... let's pretend we go to the beach again. There are some... rock... peninsula... things... not peninsula... uhh... things that stick out from the mainland. Anyway, we ventured outwards to the point, it was fun. Got shoes wet, for sure, but it was fun. Later did that again and got more stuff wet, as waves were higher in the afternoon... twas a fun adventure.
Anyway, let's say it's closer to lunch now. So we drive out of the campsite, back to civilization, to pick stuff up. Got drinks, got allergy medicine for Duy (which I can't swallow, gag reflex, I'll tell ya all about it if you really love hearing about it), got marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, etc, etc. Went to swiss chalet for lunch, and my mom ninjaed me by putting a tablet of the medicine into a french fry. Anyway, Jia had the large cut ribs, which we shared, and I had the chicken breast, and etc, etc.. Unfortunately, the allergy medicine worked for me for about 20 minutes, then I got sick again. Swiss Chalet's new Crepe dessert is pretty tasty.
I also saw a sign for mini golf and go karts. I really love go karts! I haven't been for a while. Anyway, when we got there, apparently it wasn't open on a sunday. So that sucked poo. So, etc, etc, we got back to the campsite around 2:40pm, and I just went to bed straight cuz I was sick. Duy and Jia also slept for a bit, the others went to the beach. Eventually around 3:50, Duy and Jia went to the beach, and I was still in the tent, thriving and basking in the heat. Eventually around 4:20, I get up, and head to the beach. Couldn't do much harm there, maybe I'll see some chicks, and besides, they're probably eating the chips we bought. And they were. So I came.
Sunday night. Oh yeah, I didn't talk about food. Saturday night, had some sticky rice stuff with sausages, other people had... sandwiches and stuff. Sunday morning, some people had more sticky rice stuff, I had some other sticky rice stuff with meat and bean stuff, I think. I also had a nutrigrain bar. Blueberry.
Anyway, Sunday night, some people had noodles... we also had some beef, etc... we had a fire going, so we had some sticks, sharpened them, cleaned them a bit, placed hotdogs on them, etc... so we had hotdogs and stuff. Then, of course, the camping experience can't be complete without smores, or if you're less adventerous, roasted marshmallows. For me, it's crispy marshmallows... haha. It was interesting. I tend to burn things more, but it still tastes good. I like it.
Anyway, that night, I slept much better. Monday, woke up, it rained before, cleaned up the campsite, etc, and we were out of there. McDonald's for breakfast, haven't had a mcgriddle for a while so I had that, etc, etc, slept a bit, got home around 10:00am, or a bit later, or something like that. Or we ate breakfast at 10:00 am, and we got home around 11:00. As soon as I step into the house, I feel a bit better... well, right now I'm not as sick - not the best, but not as sick for sure.
--------------
Lately, well, with Jia, we've been playing a lot of SSBM, slow-mo mode. I really like it! It's pretty funny too. That's all I wanted to say, but slow-mo isn't as bad as it sounds. Anyway, when we got back, one of the first things we did was play SSBM, probably slow-mo mode.
Anyway, let's fast forward to 6 pm. Jia calls home, and gets his bro, and tells him to tell the parents when they get back to pick up Jia. Somehow, Jia got ninjaed and he didn't get picked up till much later. So after dinner, we went to vote. We all voted Liberals, etc, etc... Jia and I had a bet, for 50 cents, that if after we vote that Jia was still there, I would win, if not, he wins. Anyway, so voting took about 15 minutes, with the drive and all that... anyway, long story short, Jia wins this round...
Oh yeah, on the camping trip, I beat another milestone in Mario vs Donkey Kong. So... now... let's say I'm done... 48.2% of the game. Still got lots to go... well, there are 3 ways to finish each level; with all 3 presents, with all 3 presents and a good, efficient time, or the cowardly way. So I have to finish more levels with more presents and a better time, to unlock more expert levels... and those are hard...
--------------
Anyway, this afternoon, I initiated for everyone to watch a movie - everyone being myself, Duy, Jia, and Vinh. So I decided that we should watch Kirikou. Kirikou is a french animated film, which I saw in English, so I had them watch it in English. I'm sure it's great in French too, but it's cute enough in English. And Vinh was watching, so subtitles wouldn't've been a good idea.
So... Vinh watched it all, and he liked it. He didn't looove it, he didn't sound that enthusiastic, but he liked it enough. Jia watched it all, except for a few minutes here and there, and he said it was okay. He thought it was gonna be good, but it was just okay. Okay and weird. Duy, he watched the first 10 minutes, then stopped watching, and then he came back and watched the last 5 minutes. Needless to say, Duy didn't like it.
Anyways, I still love Kirikou. I dunno, I guess I'm more open to artsy stuff than they are... that being said, Wen would be able to appreciate this movie. It's not the most artsy, or the most unique, but it's certainly a fresh break from the Disney type movies. Can't say that everyone will like it. I guess if you prefer to stick to your happy happy Disney movies, produced for the masses, Hollywood-style movies, with no weirdness, with ever-clear storyline, then maybe Kirikou isn't for you.

So... in a previous blog post, I mentioned seeing Spiderman 2 on Thursday, Canada Day. Originally I was thinking Wednesday, but before I posted I talked to Wen and he said Thursday was good, because it's Canada day. Anyway, talking to people, they might be busy on THursday, or not busy, or something... so what's going on? Talk to me...
As far as I know, the d20 game is still on Saturday, this one, coming up, July 3rd. And then on a calendar a few posts ago, I mentioned an anime-a-thon on July 10th. How is that for everyone? Alan says he can't come, cuz he's going camping. He says I shouldn't move it just for him, and I might just follow that advice... seeing that he's seen Full Metal Alchemist already, he might not like comedy too much, and besides, we can watch stuff in waterloo in the fall anyway. So how is July 10th for an anime-a-thon?
OR, how is July 17th? Although, I much prefer July 10th, cuz I might have a real party on the 17th. Anyway, message me, talk to me, I need to know. I think I'll make the Anime-a-thon an optional 2-day event. Still gotta pick animes..
--------------
Ahh, 10 minutes till Conan. Anyway, CSI:Miami today was pretty... interesting. Kinda. I taped it if you want to see it. Hit and Run, with a Lamborghini Diablo. It was pretty. I said it before, CSI Miami has a lot more... non evidential factors, with politics and other cop stuff involved - this time it dealt with diplomatic immunity. It sure is interesting. And there was some good ninjaing at the end. Ninjaing at its best. Anyway, time to colour paragraphs... and then conan. Good night!
