Mega Man goes Camping

Okay, it's 11:32 pm on Friday night, so I'll just go over the weekend plans and some other stuff that's on my mind.

We're going camping tomorrow! That is, Vinks, Duy, Mai, myself, Dad, Mom, uncle, and Jia. Jia's here right now, he was here since 2:30 or so, and tomorrow around 9 or 10 we're leaving for... Zibald... south of Barrie... 1 hour drive... and then we're staying for 2 nights, so until Monday morning or so. So... that's what's happening this weekend. Next weekend should be another d20 game, which would be July 3rd or so.

Then come July 10th and July 17th, which I want to spend on my real party and my anime-a-thon. Well, the anime-a-thon is still tentative, but if I can have it on the 10th, that'd be good. 10th and 11th. 2-day event. Family Vacation will be last week in July, so can't hold many things around there. Still gotta fit the magic draft somewhere...

Anyway... Spiderman 2 comes out the coming Wednesday, June 30th. Who wants to go see it, and when? Well, Canada day is the next day, so seeing it on Thursday seems to be a good idea so far. Message me, comment me, tell me what you think.

----------

Saw the first half hour of Outback Jack, a new reality tv series. I already mentioned the premise a few blog entries before, so I'll just say it looks interesting. And similarly to the gigli argument, shows can be more interesting because of the sex appeal. Well, I think that was the point, but oh well.

Today, went to the gym, came home, etc, then went to EMTC to get new passport pics, and we ate at the food court (mom, vinh, duy, and myself), and then we went to EB. Browsed around, and bought the GCN Mega Man Anniversary collection for $39.99, and also bought the new beast memory card, the 1019, also for $39.99. And here is the review.

So far, we've played a bit of almost all of the megamans, except 4 and... 5.. I think... and we played 1 of the 2 non-US-released games, one of which is like a co-op street fighter against a badguy robot.. anyway, the games look good. They run at 60 fps now, some of the sounds sound... changed... but that's okay. Music is still true to the original games, etc..

The menu's are cleverly done, with megaman having to walk to different doors to access different games, etc., but other than that, it's pretty slow to walk around... well, takes a second to go from megaman to megaman, but it could've been faster. And it would be nice if on the menu screens, megaman can jump and slide and shoot and all that...

Then... the main problem of the game. First of all, the controls are nonconfigurable. Secondly... except for megaman 8, kinda... the controls aren't so great. Control pad works fine. Instead of down and jump, you can use X to slide now. That's okay. Added extra feature, Y is rapid-fire, for most games.

Heart of the problem... B is jump. A is shoot. Totally opposite than NES megaman games, and pretty much any other intuitive mario game, where B fires (or runs in Mario) and A is jump. So the controls are totally un-intuitive now, and it feels weird, pressing B to jump. And the controls are unconfigurable, which makes the matter worse. (This is kinda fixed in Megaman 8, where A is still shoot, but you can use X to jump, as well as B)..

Then there are 2 other things which aren't really "problems"... the multi-hit glitch in Megaman 1 isn't there anymore (hit select to pause, and then when you unpause and pause again, the enemy gets hit again. So as a projectile goes through an enemy, if you pause it 10 times, it'll hit the enemy 10 times).

And in Megaman 3, the player2 glitch-cheat has been disabled. In Megaman 2, you can still use the pause-trick to move a farther distance while in the air, so that's good.

Anyway, the game is still good, and well worth the price, but it has a few issues which suck. So we'll keep the game, and we'll recommend the game to others... maybe 'Brose should get the PS2 version...

Anyway, That's it for now. Going camping, so I won't post again till Monday. I'll tell ya all about it! Or half about it. Or something. Anyway, Christa and Ching are leaving on Monday, so I might not see them (online) between now and when they leave, so... bye Christa! Bye Ching! :D
