Futureshop sucks! BestBuy rocks!

Alright, it's 9:44 AM now, and I'm awake for no particular reason. Anyway, Duy's not awake yet, so I have a chance to blog now. And Dad's still home - so I'll wait till he goes to work. I should probably do some exercise today, seeing how we didn't have a trainer session yesterday... it's been a long time since we did anything physical, not including a bit of ping pong on tuesday ;)

So let's go through yesterday's events.I blogged Tuesday night, so I just have to cover Wednesday.

---

Set my alarm to 8:40, so I woke up shortly afterwards - went downstairs, started working more on the d20 campaign, because I told Alan he can come over today, by 10:30 AM if he wanted to. Anyway, so I check my e-mail, and I received an e-mail from Futureshop.ca. I've pre-ordered Zelda 4 Swords from them, and the e-mail said that they were out of stock. Great, eh? Reserve a table at a restaurant, and when you get there, it's gone! Wonderful, eh?

So that pretty much pissed me off. What's the point of a pre-order anyway? So I check (via futureshop.ca) whether or not the 2 mississauga Futureshops (heartland, dixie&dundas) had it - and it said, both of them had it, (and in fine print, "last checked 9AM").

Anyway, Alan didn't wake up, so naturally, he didn't come at 10:30. I think it was about 11:45, and he didn't have a ride, so he could take the bus, or we could go pick him up. So we decided that we would eat lunch, and then go pick up Alan, and then head over to Futureshop.

So we did just that... except the futureshop part. They didn't have it at Futureshop! It wasn't even sold out - it was just, not in stock - they didn't even receive it yet. So the website lied to me, and thus, Futureshop sucks. Usually I'm okay with Futureshop, it's not like I will stop going there... but sometimes they just piss me off!

Afterwards, we went to BestBuy - thanks goes to mom for telling us where that is. Went in, saw the sign, "Zelda 4 Swords - coming out June 9th" - but alas, it wasn't on the shelves. So I wait in front of the sign, and a BestBuy employee walks by and I ask him, "do you have this game?" whilst pointing to the sign. He then went to the back inventory room to check it out.

He came back around 4 minutes later, empty handed, and then told me, "Just a sec, I'll go get it for you." ... Hurray?

And... Hurray indeed! He got it to me, in this huge ugly plastic thing, huger than other games. Apparently, it comes with a GBA link cable! I kinda knew that... well, Nintendo keeps sending me newsletters and they say it comes with a GBA link cable, but I wasn't sure if Futureshop or other stores would have it. So it came in a bigger box, which holds the game and the link cable.

Nice, eh? Link Cable is worth about $18-20, and the game was $50, so technically, it was a really, really good deal! I'm glad.

-------

On the way back home, there was a train. The train by the Streetsville Go Station had stopped moving, and it looked like it was leaning... derailed? Not sure. Damn CP Rail trains. Anyway, so it caused a big traffic jam, and everyone heading south away from Streetsville turned around and looked for an alternate path. So we were lost for a while, so then we went back to Brittania and got home from there.

When we got back, it was about 2:40. It was so hot, so we grabbed ourselves a pop, Duy had an icecream, etc, and we were just about to start working on D20 when it was 2:56, and David just arrived. Anyway, we decided to work on d20 anyway - just make a few characters, update a few, etc. Alan doesn't have to help me too much with story, so it's mostly just DC checks and characters. I have to ask Jason, David, and Duy something, so I'll do that over msn or in an e-mail...

Shortly afterwards, we played a game of Settlers of Catan - Duy, myself, Vinh, and David+Alan on a team. We played with a weird variation, where each hex would have 2 numbers. Anyway, I won that one, with massive cityage and dev cards (I bought maybe 8 dev cards that game). For my strategy, I had great resources of Ore, Wheat, and Sheep; dev cards and cities aren't a problem, and I've only built 1 road and 1 settlement, so I only needed help with 2 lumber and 2 brick.

After that, we played Mao. We integrated some FFXI special 2-hour attacks, and it worked pretty well. And most of the rules were triggered abilities and Duy and everyone else would tell us the trigger, so it wasn't confusing at all. Well, my rule was a regular rule, so there was a tiny bit of deduction required.

Eventually, Alan had to leave, and David and us went back to the other house to have dinner.

-----

I'm hungry now. BRB.

Okay, I'm back. No more milk, no can't have cereal. I'm not doing a streneous work-out today, so I don't need massive protein or anything special. The wonderful pillsbury croissants we made a few days ago are stale and crappy now. So, I'm having a piece of bread with breakfast meat and butter and that salmon creamcheese thing.

So where was I... right, dinner at the old house. Watched Jeopardy. Then watched Boy Meets World on Family Channel. Remember that show? :) Anyway, it was on Family Channel, and it's old, so it had no commercials.

Then I found a poker tournament on TV, so we started watching that, and my dad seems to like poker too. We then decided to go back to the new house and have a game of poker. It was fun. Duy did great, even though he wanted to leave the game. Nobody likes Suicidal people in games... unless you're kirby, since that's your best option in SSBM... but that's a different story.

After Poker, Mai started making butter chicken, using the Butter chicken sauce advertised in the PC Insider's Summer Report. The sauce tasted like Taj Palace Butter Chicken, just not as concentrated, and with our regular cooking technique, the sauce stayed outside the chicken, so inside the chicken pieces, it was just regular chicken.

We also started doing magic tricks. And David played Pump it Up. My dad did a few tricks, some which I know, some which I didn't but tried to deduct. One of the ones which he used to do a lot before, we thought we figured out, but now I notice I don't know how to do them... unless I figure out how he shuffles... but from where I was standing, I did see the sleight of hand...

Later he did more magic tricks - 3 more. The first one he did it to Mai's friend Trevor, and I totally saw how he did it. Almost. So almost no mystery there. The 2nd he did to Mai's friend Kay.. Kaye... whatever... I understood some of it, but he used a different shuffling technique and different sleight of hands, so I'm not totally sure.. It's quite freaky though. Good use of physics :P

Then he did one last trick, which involved him being in another room the whole time and him contacting us via cellphone. Unfortunately, the trick... well... sucked... and I got it right away. So... yeah. Anyway, then everyone left, I msned with Alan and Brose a bit, watched Some Leno and Conan and Blind Date, and then went to bed.

-----------

So that brings us to the end of the 'update' portion. Ya know what I haven't made for a while? A "Music" trivia... using anime and/or videogames and/or real songs. I'm not sure what real songs you guys listen to, so that'll be hard to make. I'll probably do a videogame one, not directed to any one person (like the david one)... hm... I'll do that now.

I post very often. I don't accumulate comments because of that. Oh well! Hope you enjoyed reading! Post comments so I know people read these. Anyway, Kae... I think that's it. Kae and Mai are back, and when Duy wakes up we're playing Zelda 4 swords, 2 player. Should be exciting.
