today's get-together
(listening to various anime intros/outtros while writing this entry)
Well, today was a fun day. But, as I should do with a lot of my entries, I'll start the entry with something totally unrelated, like a rant or an idea of mine. Well, this time it's a partial rant: 2 taps. That is, sinks/showers that have separate handles for hot and cold, compared to single handle. I sooo much prefer single handle - it's so much easier to gauge the temperature you want. The other way is the old fashioned way, and has the elegant Victorian look, but otherwise, is so not practical.
So today was fun. Alan arrived first as usual, followed by Wen a bit after. Wen proceeded to start Super Metroid (his first time playing), and then Andy came and eventually David came and Ray came. When Alan came, we started playing Duke3D co-op, Duy and I, episode 2, went through 4 or 5 levels before we decided to join Wen. Later, just as David came, Wen, Alan, and Duy went to pick up Raymond, who then made other arrangements to get here, so Wen accidentally locked himself out of his car. Meanwhile, David watched the entire episode 2 of Bobobo, and he seems pretty pleased by it. He should then watch episode 1, and then he'll be *tied* with everyone else. If he then decides to continue, he can join the elite ranks and watch the other episodes, which only I and Isaque have seen.
Eventually, everyone came back and we started a 6-player game of Settler's of Catan. There were 7 of us there, so Ray watched Kill Bill 2 on my computer. The Catan game was fun. A little bit of different gameplay mechanic - we're not as scared of the Robber taking away half of our resources, since we're able to build more often. Board is bigger, so fighting for resources is... different. Andy won the game, but overall everyone did... okay. I was tied with Duy for last, at 6 points. The #1 number rolled was "10", and "8" was rolled maybe 3 or 4 times at most. I'll post pictures and analysis later.
We had KFC for dinner - 15 pc mega meal + 10 pc bucket. Came up to around $50, so it wasn't too bad. It's much easier than ordering pizza, unless you have the coupons/specials out in front of you. For KFC, you just ask for the mega meal and a bucket.
Initialization works! All we have to do is initialize something, and people will follow. So, we initialized 'watching CSI.' So it was just Alan, Wen, David, and myself - with Wen and David's first time. I chose a non-typical episode, but it turns out it wasn't liked as much as a typical episode would've been liked. Anyway, it seems David will not be watching CSI ever again. I however, will continually always watch it. I love the science, deduction, mystery... and it's always cool learning about stuff. Who knows, maybe I'll commit a crime in the future, and by watching CSI I'll learn what not to do. I'll write more about that later ;) I've learned a few things from watching CSI... *shifty eyes* Afterwards, we talked about movies and things we like about some movies and... things like that.
Of course, when David said he didn't like CSI, Alan and I will always ask, "why not?" See, Alan and I (moreso I) have this tendency to defend things we love. I guess it's a character trait, not really a character flaw. So CSI, Full Metal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl, we'll all defend it really well. I've given up on trying to defend Bobobo :P It's just not worth it. But I did get Alan and Duy to watch Bobobo's party in episode 3 ^_^
Anyway, Wen eventually left, and then Alan's dad came by to discuss the waterloo house and the lease and rent and all that. Duy played Silpheed for a bit... played a bit of no-limit no-money poker, and when Alan became free, we played a few games of hearts. Then it was 11:30, and then they all left, so I go and turn off my computer - what, it's probably like 1:00... but it wasn't, and since I wasn't tired yet, I turned it back on.
Anyway, I really like this initialization thing... I dunno why, but it seems like a new idea... all we have to do is get past the initialization phase, or to actually do it, and then something will get done.
So, I want to initialize something. I would say... an anime-a-thon. I'd have to check if my computer properly hooks up to the TV (S-Video), and if it does, that's great. And from the looks of it, Full Metal Alchemist is among the top contenders for an anime marathon. Wen, Duy have seen 2 eps of it, David none, Ricky probably none, etc... Alan, Andy, Jason and I've seen a lot, but I don't think we mind watching it again. So I want a full-fledged anime-marathon. I'm talking like 15+ episodes in one day (that's like 5:30h +breaks). It's fully doable, with breaks in between. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'll take some ideas... otherwise, I think we should do this. Sometime within the next 6 weeks...
(alright... so I said I wasn listening to various anime songs... but I've only listened to 2... FMA Outtro1, and Jubei Chan 2 opening theme)
