Las Vegas meets Miami, Miami meets New York
First, the half-rant. G2. Driver's license. I don't have it. Do I want it? Well, there's the plus side. I can go out when I want to go out. Do I ever go out? There might be couple times I want to go to Square One, but I can't, because I don't drive. Then again, if I really really wanted to, I can just take a bus. Maybe I can go visit friends in Waterloo or Guelph or where-ever. I can go on a summer roadtrip to the states. In the future, I'll have a nice car of my own and it'll be fun and exciting to drive.
But for the time being... the cons are greater than the pros. I look at Duy, and all he does is chores. On average, maybe once a month or less, he'll use the car to drive to Ambrose's or to someplace fun. On most days, he's just doing chores - driving people around, going out (and thus interrupting his FFXIing) to pick someone up, drive to the bank, drive to go food shopping.. he doesn't have a passion of driving - no need for own car - doesn't go out socializing a lot, nor do I. Thus, I do not need the privelege and the curse of a G2 now. Sure, chores seem like a petty reason to not get the G2, but it does make a point. 10 advantages vs 90 disadvantages doesn't sound fun. In the future, I would need to drive, but for the time being, it's not a priority.
Anyway, sonchou's my hero! They're still fansubbing Full Metal Alchemist, which is great. Episode 32 had lots going on, and it's all building up to something big.
Went for a workout this morning, but due to scheduling problems (fault of my trainer, who didn't put it in his schedule), we got ninjaed out of a personal trainer session. He has a regular who really wants him (Phil) at 8:00 on MW, so after working it out with the registrar and all that, we know have 8:00 MWF with a girl, Cindy. I don't know her yet, but hopefully she'll be cool. And hot ;) And qualified and all that. Alex said it would be better if a guy trains guys and girls train girls, but I figured everyone knows best, so we'll just have to see about Cindy.
Ooh, the other day we asked our personal trainer about what he eats for breakfast. On that day, he ate an apple, banana, oatmeal, and _X_ egg whites. If you can guess how many, you win! *shifty eyes* - If you don't get it, then I'm 15% disappointed in you, and I didn't think you tried hard enough :P
I forgot to mention 1 thing about Troy - so I'll just mention that Alan would probably like this little tidbit - it's something we learned from the CSI game Demo. So when I saw it I thought of CSI for a bit, and Alan would say "wow, that's interesting."
Anyway, saw Jeopardy, nothing special. Then proceeded to watch American Idol for 40 minutes - saw interviews with Randy, Paula, and Simon - and then saw Jasmine's interview and her performance. I like Jasmine, but I'm not sure how well she'll do. She has a large fanbase though, so we'll see. Anyway, we would've watched the other 2 interviews, but we also tuned into Fear Factor - Family edition. 3 teams, each a team of 2, a parent and a child. Doing cool team stunts. Last stunt was cool.. child drops into water, swims to barge and sits down in a chair. Parent jumps off fast-moving boat, swims to barge, pulls lever, which "cannons" the chair and propels the child into the air, then into the water, when the child has to swim to the flag and take it off.
So that was cool. That kid's mom was pretty hot.
Lastly, CSI Miami tonight. Made a few comparisons here and there, will get to that in a minute. Anyway, in today's episode, CSI Miami (or just Horatio) went to New York and met CSI New York, starring Gary Sinese. The case was... pretty good. Well, I'm easily impressed, except I'm still kinda pissed at that CSI:LV episode last week with the stupid kids... long story short, in that episode, the kids liked what happened in the movie "Jackass" so they decided to make their own stunts, like "surfing" on top of a moving car. Anyway, to spoil the episode, they had a game where there were 6 kids in a room, and in the center they had a bamboo stick, and they had some kinda uzi-submachine gun. Anyway, they spun the gun down the bamboo stick, and it would keep shooting, and the kids had to avoid the gunfire. They did this several times, and then of course, it's all fun and games till somebody gets hurt. Well, some guy did get hurt, but then they did it one more time, and then some kid died.
Anyway, today's case was pretty interesting. Added to my list of "crime checklist", things you should remember when committing a crime. Anyway, comparing CSI Las Vegas, Miami, and New York.
Las Vegas: Bright lights, flashy, partying city
Miami: Sunny beaches, spas, parties, etc.
New York: Gloomy, gritty city, like Gotham City. Probably has a lot of crimes. However, their crime lab is very, very clean and very, very white.
Horatio (M) is much, more friendly than Gil Grissom (LV). Gil is pretty cold-hearted - well, he's a nice guy, but he's all evidence, evidence, evidence. Horatio talks to little kids, comforts them, like a parent-figure. Although David wouldn't care, Horatio is much nicer than Gil :P As for Gary Sinese, or Taylor (NY) - well, I thought he would be a dirty corrupt looking cop, but he's a bit like Horatio, just a bit gloomier, or darker.
So far, LV, being the first I think, is about evidence - blood, fingerprints, blood patterns (I really like it when they talk about blood patterns, and then they tell you which way the victim was facing/running, etc) - trajectories, etc. There's a few inside stories (like with Catherine Willows and her child), and sometimes their actions affect other people not associated with the crime... kinda (like in Chaos Theory, the parents didn't like the answer, or in that really good episode in season 1, when Catherine discloses info she shouldn't have...)... each character has their own quirks - like how Sara Sidle's pretty much not allowed to handle cases involving young girls and rape because it's so personal for her, or Catherine shouldn't get too personal with cases involving young children. This paragraph was too long.
Miami's also about evidence, of course, but they seem to talk about guns more. Also, police involvement's different, with witness protection programs and... stuff. I don't know too much about the characters yet. But they seem to have more -inside- stories... more dangerous stuff happens to Miami's team, being involved in gun-shootings themselves. LV did a few episodes like that (Grissom almost died once, Nick almost died twice).. etc, etc.
NY looks like it'll have more action sequences - in this episode, they chased a guy jumping from rooftop to rooftop. I guess each show caters to similar, yet different audiences.
Anyway, I'm working on the anime-a-thon page, it'll be up in a few days. D20 game this Saturday, gotta work on it now...
