Beast Hearts, Beast Poker, and now... Beast Catan?

I think the reason why some of my posts don't get enough comments is... well, firstly, subject matter is scattered. Secondly, Alan has a larger audience which replies to posts, as does Christa. Ambrose has Chris and Paul but they don't post too often either. Thirdly, I update too often, so now the posts below this one have much less chance of being replied to. Fourthly... well, it goes back to the content, and what can be replied to. Other than "yeah, I agree, that's a cool movie" or "That was a weird dream", some of my paragraphs really can't be replied to. Anyway...

David called us today and asked us if he can come over, but unfortunately we turned down his request, since we had people over yesterday and having people over tomorrow. However, when Duy was talking to David he mentioned the "initialization" portion of my previous entry, so it did affect him - which makes me glad. If we can get past the initialization phase in everything we do, we can probably get a lot more accomplished.

Anyway, starting from the morning and working toward the evening...

I woke up to the sound of girls talking outside my room. No, not outside my door - outside my window. Yeah, it's the painter girls, who are either done or just about done now. My parents chose the colour of the garage and stuff, so don't blame us. It matches, I guess, but I describe it as "desaturated". The garage, instead of turquoise, is closer to a peach/white - thus, desaturated. Looks like all the other houses with white garages. Anyway, so I was eavesdropping on the girls... well, I can only hear one of them talk. First I thought she said she was going to detroit tonight, but she really said she was going to see Troy. Then they discussed the Thursday survivor special, and how Rupert won the other million and how Colby was soooo hot, comparable to Brad Pitt. ^_^

The other day I saw a man named Tim Russell, author, on the Daily Show, and today I saw him on Jeopardy. I sometimes also watch Beat the Geeks. Did you know in Perfect Murder with Douglas and Paltrow, the other guy was Viggo Mortinsen? I didn't know that!

Downloaded KiLL BiLL 2, so it's on my computer now. Quality is okay. I would say it's good, but not superb. Sound quality isn't the best either, but it's totally watchable. I think I'll put it on now... the part when The Bride sees Bill again...

Downloaded Duke 3d again, got it setup, and I talked with Duy and we'll be playing co-op again soon. Haven't played good co-op games lately... also, played more UT2K4 and took more videos... running out of space like crazy... but Duke 3d definately is fun. Co-op will be a fun experience. Of course, Duy started playing FFXI, so... co-op will have to wait.

During dinner, watched America's funniest videos, and then Simpsons, and then a little bit of the G.I.Joe movie on YTV. The blue bad guy, he IS starscream! Well, his voice is almost most definately starscream from Transformers. It would've been cool if we heard an Optimus Prime or Soundwave. But the funny thing that we saw was... well, we were joking before our d20 game, about a guy that would just carry a sidewinder rocket around... well, there's this guy who did that, and threw it at a tank. It was hilarious. There were also explosive caltrops in the movie, that was cool.

Saw an episode of CSI on Spike TV tonight. I could've recalled I've seen it before, but watching it made me realize... I haven't. One of the two cases was pretty good... the other case was just plain stupid. The case wasn't stupid, the kids involved were all sooo stupid.

Anyway, to the topic title. In the expansion of Settler's of Catan, there are 2 blank cards - 1 blank resource card and 1 blank development card - it says, for replacement, or just for fun. So blank development card... can you say, Beast Development Card? So Duy and I just started dreaming possibilities for what a Beast resource card or Beast Development Card can do, and how the Beast resource card is distributed.

Beast Resource Card: at the beginning of the game, 1 of each resource and the Beast Resource cards are shuffled and each player is dealt 1 card. The Beast Resource Card counts as ... 5 resource cards of your choice..

Beast Development Card

(played) by itself: Choose any regular development card, and play it as that.

(played at the same time) with soldier: 4 soldiers. 3 extra robbers created, placed where you want them to be placed. counts as 1 soldier toward army.
When someone uses soldier or rolls 7, they can move a single robber or choose to delete a single robber (if there are >1).
with monopoly: monopoly of EVERYTHING (resource cards).
with road building: build 5 roads.
with harvest plenty: gain 10 of any resource.
with victory points: gain 2 victory points.
with 3 bricks: you gain control of enchantment: "Robber thresh-hold does not apply to you, and people can't steal from you using robber."
with 4 bricks: you gain control of enchantment: "You still get resources even if a robber is on a number beside you."
with 5 wheat: you gain control of enchantment: "Pick up a resource card of your choice whenever a 7 is rolled."
with 3 lumber: swap two numbers on the board.
with 5 ore: bury target city or settlement.
with 5 ore and 2 sheep: gain control of target city or settlement.
with 1 of each resource except resource X: pick up 10 cards of resource X.
with 5 sheep: take control of target player's turn.
with 4 sheep and 2 bricks: take control of one of target player's victory point cards.
with 5 bricks: you gain control of enchantment: "you can build settlements/cities adjacent to your own settlements/cities."
with 2 of each resource: you gain control of imaginary 2:1 harbour.

Played as an instant vs Robber: Take all resource and development cards from the player that tried to rob you.

So these are just some ideas that Duy and I made up, although I made up more of them after Duy just went to play more FFXI. Anyway, we're having a get-together tomorrow, starts after 1:30 as usual, goes until whenever, as usual. Settlers of Catan (non-beast), other games, watch stuff, play stuff, etc. - lots of fun stuff. Troy, perhaps? Most likely not, but we'll see how it goes. We might just decide to go. Initialization, that's all it takes. That, and money.
