Azumanga Daioh, all over again
(warning - long entry follows)
Okay, so this morning I wake up to the sound of the front door opening, and I faintly hear Wen's and Alan's voices. Alan sounded quite comfortable, so I thought... "What? Is it already noon? I slept for like 10 hours?" Man... I must've been really tired or something. Slept for 10 hours, until noon... wow. My muscles were tired, couldn't move... anyway, they must've been done their exams. So I check the clock...
8:14 AM. Hmm... damn. So I'm awake, really early, which explains my sleepiness. So... I ponder... should I wake up, and write about this in my blog? Well... hell no. I'm not getting up to write in my blog. So I go back to bed, wake up at 10:33 AM, still tired, but can't spend the entire day asleep, so I got up.
I downloaded that Bakuretsu Tenshu episode 2 and Ragnarok ep 2, and Madlax ep 2, but I haven't seen them yet. Also downloaded some other episode 1's, Dan Doh, Sensei No Ojikan, Melody of Oblivion, and currently downloading La Petite Cosette. Of these, so far I've only seen Sensei No Ojikan, and here's my mini review:
Azumanga Daioh, with Chiyo Chan as the main character, as the teacher. Add more guys to the show, and there. Ya got a modified Azumanga Daioh. Highschool setting, a mix of varied characters, and comedy. It's not as wacky as Azumanga, but it's still good. One problem I had was that it didn't feel like 30 frames per second, so it was hard to get adjusted to at first. Another one comes with some of the subtitles, which go by too fast.
Characters are varied, like Azumanga Daioh. There's the Tomo-chan equivalent, and then there's a Tomo/Sakaki male - that is, he's good at sports but not at school. There's an arrogant male (he think's he's sexy), there's a half-arrogant version of Duy ^_^ - class representative like Chihiro, and a few other characters. Oh yeah, there's the male version of Kaori. Yeah. He's gay. And like how Kaori is to Sakaki, this guy likes this Tomo/Sakaki dude.
Downloaded Battlefield 1942 demo - wondered what all the hype was about. I haven't played it yet. So I'll blog about it when I try it.
Did some internet trial and error. Tank.com is a defense-news site, ninja.com is an e-mail service, beast.com is some photography site. pirateninja.com is a forum/community type thing - doesn't have anything in it, except a nea video I saw of monkey vs tiger. It looks somewhat scripted, but amusing nonetheless. ninjapirate.com is a dude's site, who writes funny articles. I read some of them.
Went to Jason's place, and we saw Kill Bill 1 again, since we're seeing it tomorrow. And Alan hasn't seen it yet, so he had to watch it then. It was a different experience this time... it was a bit better than the first time I saw it. It's like I didn't care that it was somewhat stupid - so it was more enjoyable. Chiaki (gogo) is still totally awesome.
Chikuwa is made of fish.
Went to KFC for dinner, and then to J&J's collectibles store to check out dice and clay poker chips .THEY HAVE CLAY POKER CHIPS! YAY! I love this store. Almost. hehe. They're expecting a big shipment of 5 million chips at the end of April, so if I can somehow get to Waterloo early May, then that'd be great. Hopefully they'll have the ones I want.
Anyway, KFC was pretty good. I spent about twice as much on my meal than Duy did... bought my usual, Spicy Beast sandwich, but they had a new club special, where you pay $1 to add cheese (two types!), bacon and tomato to your sandwich. So I clubbed my Spicy Beast sandwich (Spicy Big Crunch), and had the combo.
So then we went to J&J's and got a few more dice. And I also made a fork structure at KFC. Pictures will follow soon.
Oh yeah, the other day they finally subbed Bobobo episode 3, and then the other day I watched it. Since most of you wouldn't care to watch it, I'll summarize it. I chuckled at the part when the skull boy saw Bobobo doing something, and he said "That's weird!" - it's like he's thinking what the audience is thinking.
So here's the summary:
Bobobo is pretending to be a hamburger, and beauty is dragging him around. bobobo and beauty arrive at party town. bobobo goes crazy and starts attacking random people. Of course, the town gets pissed off. after some running away and getting caught, Bobobo challenges the town to a party.
The dynamite brothers accept the challenge. The rules are simple - no theme, just party. Whoever parties hardest will win.
Bobobo parties first.
This is the best part of the episode, so I'll say... skip it for now ^_^
After both people party, Bobobo has a concert inside his head. Everyone cheers for the band, who are breaking up. Bobobo is sad that they are breaking up. The Manager of the group goes to a convenience store to get food, and Beauty is hungry too. Then the convenience store blows up.
Beauty gets unconscious, and stuff happens.
I don't really feel like explaining the rest. But there was a heartwarming (not really) story about a duck and his love.
So the best 2 parts of the episode are:
PARTY!
And of course, Monkeys playing Mahjong. The worst part was that Don pachi didn't play a big role. Although that was intentional.next episode of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is Bababa-ba Ba-baba.
So I made everyone watch the first minute or two of the episode, which was a recap of the last episode, just told in a different way, which made it somewhat amusing.
And then just now I got Alan to waste >88 seconds of his life watching Bobobo's party. Wasn't it amazing, Alan? Maybe he'll comment about it. Anyway, I guess he was hooked to what he saw, cuz I only wanted him to watch Bobobo's party - but then he also saw the opponent's party, and then the concert, and he watched until the convenience store blew up.
Anyway, next update should be somewhat fun. By the next update, I would've seen Kill Bill 2, and probably played more poker. If everything goes right, Alan will join me. He and I will take everyone's money and we'll both be 60 bucks richer. Well, that is, if everything goes right. And then Alan will come to more poker games, until he's banned for being too good. If everything goes righter, Jason will be there too. So we'll see. And if everything goes super right, I'll have pocket aces each turn, and 2 aces will be on the flop. But one can only dream...
Jason's done watching Full Metal Alchemist 25 now. 0-25 in 2 days. That's pretty fast. Wen will probably join the FMA group, and then we can have discussions about who the other sins are and who the father and scar's bro and the homunculii makers are.
Anyway, Alan and I are supposed to be playing some Smash 1 on 1 now, to practice... 1 on 1... but I don't think it's going to happen. He's editing an essay, and it's getting kinda late now. But maybe. Maybe I'll bug him and we'll play till 2. Anyway, this journal entry has gotten long enough now.
Bababa-ba Ba-baba!
