I can't see straight....

Lots to update about, kinda, but not enough time to do so. Wen will be over soon (as I have just been informed by Alan), and then the Magic Draft tournament registration begins at 11:30, so I'll have to leave the house in about 40 minutes.

Poker tournament. It was a blast. Played a lot of poker (while in the tournament, and off to the side)... so
*spoiler*

I didn't win.

*end spoiler*

Well... no need to spoiler really, haha. Lots of stuff in this (or the next) journal entry are spoilers. So our ride from Unit 35, Melanie, she won the tournament. It was a grueling final battle, and it was pretty cool. She has awesome sportmanship, so she's refunding the PS2 and offering half the prize to Jason, the runner-up. Jason got the most knockouts (9), so he won the clay chips. Overall it was a great experience, lots of fun, Andy liked it, Alan liked it, I liked it too.

But I'm gonna have to kick myself right now, since I did the one thing I told myself that I would never do: I WENT ALL-IN. 7 people started at the table. Annie ate one, Vu ate one, Annie ate 2 more. 3 of us were left at the table, Hong with ~50 chips, myself with ~140 chips, and Annie with about 500 chips. I look on the table, 4 cards were flipped, a 6, an Ace, a nine, and a 7. Annie looked at me, and asked me how many chips I had left, and then she raised me that amount.

I look at my hand. A 6, and an Ace, so I have 2 pair. That's pretty good, eh? So... I did the one thing I told myself that I would never, ever do - I went all-in. Cuz if you went all-in and you lost, then you're out - totally out - no second chances, no way to win the PS2. But i did it anyway.

See title. "I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHTS". For some reason, when I look at cards on the table, I don't know why, but I can't see whether or not someone could possibly have a straight. Like, I used to be able to, I think, but now I can't (well, now I can, after I lost, but prior to that, no). So Annie shows her 5 and 8, which forms a straight, and I show my 6 and Ace, which forms 2 pairs.

So I start mentally kicking myself in the head now. So now I lost. But then Toan said, "wait wait", cuz I still had a chance, if the last card flipped would be a 6, or an ace. The last card is flipped, and it's like, a 3 or something.

So that ended me from the tournament. Now some other things that make me feel bad:

-- To get to 2nd round, 14 people have to be knocked out - and then everyone gathers at 2 tables, have their chips reduced by 50%, and continue playing. I was the 12th person to be knocked out, so if I waited just a little more, I would've made it into 2nd round.

-- Hong, who had 80 chips at the end of 1st round, then had 40 chips at the beginning of 2nd round. I looked around the tables of 2nd round, and one table was like, 200, 180, 100, 40, 40, 40, 40, and the other table was pretty similar. If I had stayed in, I would've had 70, which would've been above... median :P but that's pretty good. Of course, if I won the all-in, I would have 280/2 = 140, and annie would've had less. (So now I was rooting for Hong, the last survivor of table 1, and as well, Annie, my destroyer).

To make me feel better, I would think that I wouldn't've made it into the final ... 4. But I might've. So I will still kick myself.

Had a $5 poker game later on (4 people x $5 = $20), so $20 was at stake. Unfortunately, the tournament was coming to an end, so we had to stop our game. Out of the 400 chips, jeff had like 70, and Andy and I had a pretty even split of 160 each - but since it was the last game, we had to resort to playing regular poker, 1 round - I ended up with a pair of 2s. Andy had 2 pair. So he won the $20.

Lots of precious moments during the tournament, when people went all-in and were crushed or came back to life, caught on digital tape. Maybe I'll explain all about it later, although I pretty much described 60% of the tournament already.

Dreams! Laura (presentation, data) dream - and... the Alan driving dream. Nope, no caltrops, but Alan was in it, and he was driving, and he was a bad, scary driver. It was soo scary. And then I had another dream right afterwards, where I was wondering if that Alan dream was a dream or not, so I asked Alan (in the dream) whether or not he was driving me around, but he said no, so I figured out I was having a dream, and that I wouldn't have to tell on him..

ya know, cuz driving 160 km/h and sideswiping a metal docking bay in the middle of the road was pretty damn scary... so I screamed at Alan to get out of the car, and then I got in, and then a cop pulled us over and I think he may have seen us drive at 160 km/h, so I told him that it was Alan driving.

I don't remember much else.

I want poker chips.

10:57. Wen will be here soon, and soon we shall go register for the thingieing, and then have lunch.
