"All animals are equal. But some are more equal than others."
Alright, first of all, that title doesn't really make any sense. Secondly, here is post 2 of 2 of the evening of February 3rd, the first day of my journal. This entry is a real journal entry! The other was an introduction to the blog. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest you read it first.
So... last night I had a few dreams. First dream I remembered during lunch with Wen, Jason, Alan and Duy. Well, we were talking about our d20 modern game (long story short, Wen decided we should all start a d20 modern (dungeons and dragon, pen and paper) RPG, so yeah. Our first experience was last Saturday, and it went pretty well. Anyway, my dream was about the d20 modern game. My character, his name is Combo Bracher (he's German, and in English they pronounce his name "Combo Breaker") and he's the tough hero, like Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid. Anyway, we (myself, and Alan's character, the female doctor, whose name I maybe shouldn't say)... anyway, we were in this enemy compound base, similar to other Metal Gear Solid games. Well, I dunno how Alan's character looks like, but in my dream it was a guy. So I go through this door, and then something suddenly shoots me, and I'm reduced to -8 life. I'm not unconscious yet cuz I have this "remain conscious" feat, so I'm struggling around. Anyway, Alan runs up to me and tries to heal me and he fails, so I drop down to -9. So now Wen's there and everyone else was crowding around worrying, because my character was about to die and be dropped from the game forever. But then Alan manages to heal me, so I stabilize back to 0. And... that pretty much ends the dream.
The second dream, which I remember more but was longer (so I'm writing it 2nd), was the dream that involved David. So as a background story, We and David discussed some reading week plans, where he can come visit us during reading week cuz us math people at UW only get reading "days", so he can come visit us for the first few days. This dream kinda revolves around that.
So... I think we were in Mississauga, and David was there. Anyway, I needed to go back to Waterloo, and I asked David if he wanted to come so he says okay. So apparently my aunt was driving to Waterloo, so we take a ride with her. She had her van, so I sat in the middle row, middle seat, and David sat in the passenger seat. Anyway, we start driving.
Not sure what happens for a while, but then I remember at one point, we were driving near some wheat fields, and there was some dead grass on the road, but we just drove over it. Then my aunt asked me, "who was it that lived around here? Was it David?" and I said "no". Then she asked "Who was that guy who we have to walk really far to get to?"
And then I recognized the area, and I said "Jia." And then she nods in agreement, and we continue on our trip. Then we get to Waterloo, (oh yeah, all this was around in the summer time, and I think the time of day was a constant 5:00-7:00 pm, as the sun was setting but it wasn't dark yet). Of course, places in dreams aren't like they are in real life, so .. waterloo looked a bit different. Well, it wasn't really waterloo. Anyway, so I asked David if he wanted to go look around and see all the neat stuff there is to do in Waterloo.
David says no... because David has a job to do. He came to Waterloo to help some "mod 8" people. I don't remember if he said it exactly like that, but he did mention "grade" and "mod 8". I'm pretty sure he meant he had to be a teacher's assistant for some grade 8 students and... well, I remember (this is real life now) - back in grade 8, or maybe 4, or something, there was something called "mode" where they put enhanced kids, or smarter kids or something - I was in Mode along with a few other people. Anyway, back to the dream... so David was to help out some Grade 8 Mode kids, so that's why he didn't have time to look around.
Alright, here it gets interesting. Kinda. So David and I get into a lengthy (well... actually it was pretty short) discussion about University and Grade 8 Mode kids. I was arguing how it is better to be in University, than to try really hard to get into enhanced classes in junior high and highshool, in order to perhaps later join a better university. I had all this data to back me up, like I said, "I have studies that show, and I have asked a lot of people about this - that people prefer to just get into university and continue there, rather than try really hard in highschool to get into a better university." And I had figures about how graduates from the first universities (not the better ones) still had good jobs.
And so on. Anyway, after that David came over anyway, but of course in the dream I had a different house. I felt dirty, so I wanted to change underwear, but I couldn't find any so I had to take a shower. When I came out, I changed pants and all that and... I think that ends the dream.
So... there! that's the end of my dreams. Lucky bloggers you, getting to read my dreams. I haven't written out dreams for a while.
Anyway, continuing my journal entry... first dreamt about David, now Taunting David!
It's not really a taunt. it's more like, 'talk about today's animation-history-film-studies screenings and make David do that *sighing* thing he does because they don't offer those types of courses at UTM.' So last week we... well, the week before that, cuz WE HAD A SNOW DAY LAST WEEK :D (haha, now I'm taunting more people). Anyway, the week before that we saw some original episodes of Superman, and Felix the cat, and it was fun. And last week we saw some stuff on thursday cuz tuesday was a snowday, so I saw some parts of fantasia that I never really cared to see before. Today, we spent 80 minutes watching Animal Farm - it was interesting. I liked the first 20 seconds of the animation, looked 3d with the use of glass panes or individual plants and stuff... after that it seemed the animation was pretty regular, but the story was nicely done. "All animals are equal. But some are more equal than others." that's where the quote comes from. If you haven't seen it yet... well, I thought it was pretty good. I can describe the film for you if you'd like.
Saw "Owl and the pussy cat", made by the same guy. wasn't that special though. Saw a few puppet films, like "The hand", which was banned in the communist part of Czech at the time, but twas a good award winning film nonetheless. And... saw some other stuff. I'm liking this course, but I haven't done any work yet...
Last but not least, to end my february post, we went out for chicken wings today - Alan, Jason, Duy and I. Wen already ate at the time, so he didn't come along. Between the 4 of us, we bought a salad, a large basket of fries, 10 honey garlic wings, 10 barbecue wings, 10 cajun wings, 10 medium wings, and 10 teriyaki wings. That's the largest basket of fries I've seen for $3.29. The wings were pretty good... price went up from 25 cents to 35 cents a wing... grr.. they're not as big as Morty's (these were from Molly Bloom's), and Weavers has the same wings as Morty's. So that's the end of the story.
Oh, and since it's kinda news from a week ago, I might as well share it here. I'm not much of a drinker, but the other day I had a beer again. It still tastes the same as it did a long time ago, but this time it didn't taste bad :) So while I wouldn't go out of my way to get beer (It was a Kokane), I can drink beer every now and then. I had 2 glasses, and I didn't get inebriated. I just thought I'd share.
